Holy shit. My brother just got a job offer from Microsoft with $100,000/year, average bonus of 10%, stock options, and $5,000 to help him move. Straight out of college. Well done, Colin.
Whelp, Looks like I'm going to Anime Los Angeles after all. All four of the panels I submitted have been accepted.
Initial Fact vs Fiction: Staff Description: As a car and racing enthusiast, I have a love/hate relationship with Initial D. It is so much fun to watch, but as someone who actually used to race on the street, some of the stuff in there just doesn't hold up to reality. Drawing from multiple racing disciplines (drift, rallycross, rally, touge), the panel will compare the racing in Initial D to real world racing. Programming Guide Description: Fasten your seatbelts and fill your NOS tanks; Let's delve into the world of Initial D and see how much of the show passes muster when compared to the real thing!
Monster Girl Quest: The Lecture (18+) Programming Guide Description: Monster Girls: we love em', we hate em', but where did they come from? This lecture delves into the history of the anthropomorphisation and sexualization of some of mankind's most ancient mythical creatures. What I'm ACTUALLY going to do: Play the game for the first 10 minutes and stop riiiiiiight before anything racy happens (can you say "bait and switch"?), then explain to the audience about the mythological origins of the creatures in the game , explain some of the undertones of the game, and some theories as to WHY we anthropomorphize everything (including Jeph Jacques's theory of Quantum Fetishes). I also may equip the door staff with mini UV lamps and steal Alex Leavitt's hand check test.
How to be an Effective Hater: Staff Description: This panel aims to teach the audience how to be an ethical hater (not a troll), i.e. experiencing the topic before hating, using reason and logic to explain your feelings on the subject, how to avoid using logical fallacies and rebut the common ones used by those offended by your hating. Programming Guide Description: Want to be a hater but always end up a troll? This panel will teach you how to be the best hater you can be!
And, for the third time, I'll be doing my "My Little Pony: Sound is Magic Panel", where I give the audience a lesson on sound history in cinema and animation and point out the various sound elements in the series excluding voice acting.
I'm feeling pretty fucking professional right now. ^_^
The characters are really cute. But then there's porn. Lots of porn...
I want a Tokimeki Memorial style version of a game like that. (Tokimeki was basically the only dating sim we ever knew about at RIT that wasn't at all pornographic).
I also feel like that mere existence of that game is almost TOTD quality material.

I'll say this for it: The story of the game is, in my opinion, actually good. The hero protagonist has to deal with crises of faith, conflicts between his own moral code and that of societies, and major challenges to his overall world view.
My biggest gripe with this game, though, is this: He is wearing pants and has a sword, so how is it that any monster's first attack (which is usually some manner of junk fondling) can even HAPPEN? Does fighting protocol involve the ceremonial dropping of the drawers?
What I expected: a bog standard NAS, you know, mostly-dumb-HDD-and-network-card-in-a-box.
What I got : A surprisingly full-featured media server right out of the box, ready for independent torrenting and downloads right out of the box, plus a ton of other stuff, in a box the size of a thick novel.
I finally completed the final song in my Groundhog Day concept album/musical/live show project. That's fifteen songs based on the movie, all written since the beginning of the year.
Now I plan to get demo recordings done of all the songs and write some narrations for the gap between each. Then, if all goes to plan, I'll do the first full performance next year in January, and the big premier on the second of February... on Groundhog Day.
