  • So I'm playing Fez and trying not to look up the answers but then it hit me that it took large groups of people to work stuff out, so I don't know at what point I will have solved all the puzzles I can solve.
what ever you do, don't look up the languages. those are totally possible for a single person of strong will and fine character to figure out.
  • I hope Bain-sempai notices me.

Just beat Saints Row IV. So much lost potential, with that whole President thing that they threw out the window at the beginning of the game.
I think you expect way too much out of that game.

    LOL WTF
  • Also, not photoshopped. That's an actual mask.
  • Naked Condor prototype made it to 75km! Didn't have enough fuel to circularize. Going to rearange fuel and add stuff like solar panels before I get the first payload up.
Flew it up myself as mechjeb can't do plane takeoff.

  • Started playing Final Fantasy XII International Zodiac Job System. Seems fun for now. The story seems to be about all kinds of fun fantasy politics stuff, little heavy on proper nouns, but otherwise fine, at least until the eventual "Ho ho hoo, I'm big evil dude and I destroy the world" -part.

The battle system is quite fine, random encounters are dealt pretty much automatically, while harder fights and bossfights can still have a quite a bit of fun in them when you juggle with positioning, spellcasting, healing and other stuff.

Overall it's an jrpg and seems to be one of the enjoyable ones.

I thought the political stuff was the worst, but then again large scale war/politically heavy stuff bores me. I usually don't mind if its going on in the background but that game kept it pretty central.

  • Got the Condor 0.6 up to 1500mps, then one of my groupings was bugged and it turned off all the engines on only one side, sending it into a mad spin.
  • Keep the KSP coming, Omnutia. It's great stuff.
  • Does anyone want me to Stream it?
  • GTA V has been eating my time like a fat kid in a bakery.
  • GTA V is so good. It is SO good.

Yet... it's not blowing my mind. Maybe because almost every element of the game is a refined version of something used in a previous Rockstar game...

But at the same time it is SO GOOD.

The heists are awesome. Michael definitely borders on misogyny sometimes in an uncomfortable way, at least with his wife.

  • I'm not playing, but I'm doing a lot of research into Hearthstone: Lord of the Arena. Man, do I want to play that game. It's actually a pretty solid CCG with good mechanics. It has more of a back-and-forth feel than the momentum generating nature of MTG.

I played it. It's pay to win. There is an arena in there that is pay to play instead of pay to win. Even that is crap. The decisions you make on your turn are obvious and mindless. Winning between two non-stupid players comes down to luck.

Entering Arena is literally free unless you are so shit at the game that you can't beat the AI initially to gain enough gold to get into arena after which, once you get into arena you will get your gold back plus more based on how many wins you can get (maximum of 9 or maximum of 3 losses).

It is as pay to win as any CCG in that you can get better cards by buying card packs but you also get card packs for playing in Arena.

The powerful cards are really quite rare unless you are crafting them from the dust that you gather for playing arena.

I think the addition of divine shield silences and then knowing what each class character's cards make for an interesting game. I'm not sure what Scott's knee jerk reaction was. It is quite easy initially but then if you play someone who knows what they are doing you get destroyed, similar to MTG without the mana draw cock block.

Maybe if Scott were to describe the game he had a bit more I could understand the validity of his argument or lack there of.
  • There are a lot of games out there that would be good games were they not pay to win. People are so quick to excuse games for being pay to win to justify their enjoyment of them. Yes, you are correct. It is just like M:TG. It's PAY TO WIN. Richest person wins. I beat every opponent handily and mindlessly except for people who had better cards than I did who had spent money and/or time to get them.

Yeah I guess that makes sense.
Time should be spend enjoying rather than grinding.

Almost all of Card Kingdoms profit comes from reselling Magic cards. I forget what it is but they handle several purchases of individual cards a day.

  • Windwaker HD. It's so purty....
  • I would totally have picked that up, but after 5 solid months of my Wii U collecting dust in my living room, I sold it to finance part of our Connecticon Budget last summer. I go back and forth over whether I regret that or not. The original one is still sitting there, dusty as fuck, with a hard drive mod that makes it crazy convenient to use... yet it's still not used. Ever.
  • You know, I only found out the other day that "Characteristics of games" Richard Garfield is also "Creator of Magic: The Gathering and still Semi-regular contributor" Richard Garfield. This is probably mentioned IN characteristics of games, but it's currently residing in my pile of shame right now, I haven't gotten around to reading it yet, even though I bought it a little while ago.
  • A friend currently has my copy of that text, because I finished reading it. It's definitely worthwhile.

Also creator of Netrunner, RoboRally, The Great Dalmuti, King of Tokyo, and others. Also, that book has two other authors, George Skaff Elias, and K. Robert Gutschera. George was one of the first playtesters of M:TG and created the M:TG Pro tournament system. Gutschera I think is still director of development at WotC.
  • I knew the other dudes were also in on the book, but I didn't know that about them. I also knew that RG had Netrunner and Roborally under his belt from the same person I learned about him being one and the Same Richard Garfield, but didn't know about the others. I haven't looked up much about him.

I didn't realize he made roborally. I hate that game. Well I guess I don't hate it but I think it's kinda dumb after the first two games I'd played.

  • You leave RoboRally alone.

It's OK RoboRally. You're still a great game and we love you.

It's also another game that people do not read the rules on and treat it like Monopoly.
