So several months ago I started Eternal Darkness for the Gamecube and got about 1/3 of the way through. This weekend I finally pulled it back out and finished it. I kind of wish this game had been made a decade later than it was because the only bad parts of the game are mostly tied to old-fashioned game design choices. There are namely two major problems: 1) the save system, and 2) the combat system. The save system is flawed because it is one of those systems that allows you to save anytime (in theory), which works just fine for PC games because that's what they're used to, but on a console it is hard to remember to save very often. But then there is also the issue where the game will suddenly not let you save for long periods of time, which is just frustrating. And then with the combat system, I think it's largely just the fact that it is such an old game, and they were trying to be a little ambitious with it by having specific part targeting. Again, cool idea, much like the limb-targeting of Dead Space, but this isn't Dead Space. It's an old-school Resident Evil clone, except with weaker weapons and it's much, much harder to heal. I would think that with the way games are designed today, this could be done really well.
Otherwise, the game is pretty intriguing. I don't really care for the lore of it all, but the chronology of the story and the way characters interact, along with the methods the game uses to creep you out, are novel and I want to see more games run with those ideas.
So Jeremy and I bought Picross 3D when it came out. Jeremy is on level 5, and I am on level 3. This game is alright. We are starting to call this game the Puzzle Quest Galactrix of Picross. We hope that if another Picross comes out, it will be more like the original.
So far the puzzles are ok. I find the animated block avatar that watches you do the puzzle absolutely annoying. The animation after you complete the puzzle is too long. When the puzzle is completed, I'm really not that impressed with what it turned out to be. The only thing I do seem to enjoy is just figuring out the puzzle.
I'm hoping the puzzles will get better with the higher levels, but I won't hold my breath.
Don't spoil the surprise, at least it isn't as bad as when I play armored core. I love playing with my joke mech, the 'queen' piloted by 'Freddy' which only uses lazer/explosive weaponry. It's guaranteed to blow your mind. Any time.
Otherwise the Diaemus 8 will cut you up with some wicked lazer swords. The only thing better than one lazer sword is 2 really. Sometimes I use missiles to flush the opponent out too.
Still Mass Effect 2 - The latest patch modified the scanning for minerals, making the scanning icon/targeter thing much bigger, and also move much faster - a planet doing a full rotation in about 3 or 4 seconds at top speed, rather than a minute and a half. I'm am pleased by this development, because it no longer takes 10-20 minutes per planet to scan for minerals, which are required for many upgrades to your squad.
Must have. I've never touched a sonic game in my life except for some Sonic Pinball game when I was about 14. Someone posted a link to the Sonic CD song and I was hooked.
So... I downloaded the Steam client for Mac. And Portal. Now we'll see if my computer is capable of running it. I won't feel bad if it doesn't since I've beaten the game already. If it doesn't, then I'll just have to wait until I can get a new computer.
Of note, I haven't used one of my own computers for PC gaming since 2002.
EDIT: On the side, since I just finished Eternal Darkness, going through the rest of the games I haven't beaten on Gamecube. Which just happen to be: Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil Remake, and Resident Evil 4. Yeah, I don't know why I let that happen either.

The RE remake and RE4 were great, but I personally found RE 0 to be a disappointment. I actually purchased my GameCube for the RE remake on the day the game came out
Really enjoying the new Red Dead. I've played a few hours now and I've only bothered with a couple missions, as I've spent the majority of my time just riding around and checking out the views and shooting/skinning animals.
I just bought the Total War Mega Pack for $20.40 on Steam. I must say, Empire: Total War is ridiculously large. 16.5GB!?
True, true. I hate it when games theese days are large as hell. I have 5Gb a day limit on my internet, so game that big I would have to divide to four days.
Right now I'm going back and forth between Grand Theft Auto 4, Monkey Island on XBLA, and Pokemon Soul Silver.
I'm trying to concentrate on my older games before I get anything new, I've got fare too many unbeaten games to justify buying anything, though Super Street Fighter 4 and Tekken 6 are seriously tempting me.

I'm looking forward to the MP aspects of the game.

Sonic 1, 2, 3 & Knuckles. I am play dis.
Now, all we need is a Sonic CD port to DS.
Made all the worse by the fact that Jenesis, a generic DS Megadrive emulator, runs Sonic 2 flawlessly.
Sega just broke my inner child's knees.

Still, it did have some huge stutter issues, so I'm going to hold off getting anything else until I get a more powerful computer.
I just downloaded Megaman 10 from the PSN. It's so awesome, not anything like Megaman X. Just plain old Megaman fun, totally classic gaming style.
