I think my mind is splitting in half as I'm juggling both Bioshock 1 and Fallout 3.
Bioshock is quite short and somewhat enjoyable. I'd start with that one. I don't know about you, but if I have long game and short game, I'll start with the short. But I also rarely play only one game at a time so...
Actually started playing Mega Man 9. In some ways, my skills are still high. In other ways, where did my skills go?
Also, apparently my neglected Wii has a problem with the disc drive, and it needs to be sent for repair. Guess I won't be playing any disc games until I get around to that. That's ok, because I don't feel like paying full price for Mario Galaxy 2 anyway.
The disk drive probably screwed up because of dust from unuse. It's very sensitive in that way. I remember when Brawl came out and a lot of smoker's Wii's had damaged disk drives.
In "what am I playing" news, I did wind up picking Dead Space for my next major game to start. I also grabed the Zombie Island DLC for Borderlands as I don't want to shelve that game quite yet, and will probably get the other DLC someday as well.
I also made an effort to clear off some titles at the bottom of my large pile of shame. SSX Blur for Wii has really sucked so far and I'll give it one more hour. Geometry Wars for DS has been kinda enjoyable so far and I think I will beat all the single player missions before I consider it done.
At some point in the week I wrote a Super Meat Boy preview for my website, and consequently lost a day of game playing to the original Meat Boy game on Newgrounds.

Never played Bioshock, so I have no real opinion on it.
If you like deep and intricate plotlines, very relevent and powerful morals, tight gameplay, and art deco ahoy: go nuts and love it... I mean, how could you not?
I never understand when people say this about this game. The moral system can basically be pared down to the choice between killing Little Sisters or not killing Little Sisters, which is nothing compared to virtually any Bioware game. I also don't find the plot to be very intricate or deep.

Agree, the thing with little sisters is basically, want to see good ending or bad ending? I could be said that the story has elements that could raise some interesting moral questions, but the game never does it. Also agree on Sail that the story was quite mediocre, it had good things in it but some fundamental things were missing. Bioshock 1 is good enough to play once, but for me it doesn't give anything more.
For Bioshock, there was an added level of moral questioning in that in order to power up, you basically had to also kill the Big Daddies who were otherwise completely passive to your presence unless you got closer to the Little Sisters. They're only doing what they were programmed to do and that was to protect. So it's not just kill or rescue demented little girls, but there was also the added level of killing what was basically a peaceful giant (until you pissed it off that is). Of course, we as gamers only really see the Big Daddies as nothing more than obstacles in our paths to power so either I'm reading too deeply into it or it was a fail on the part of Bioware.
I don't recall ever getting a choice of killing the Big Daddies.
You don't. Bioshock is a game of one-dimensional black and white morality. Really, they fact that they're little girls is just there to give the average gamer who discerns between adult "obstacle" foes and children (who you usually never kill in games) pause, as well as to add a few drops of nightmare fuel for the faint of heart. The rest of us view it as just "X for Bad Ending, B for Good Ending," which is really all it boils down to.
Been playing Red Dead Redemption, mostly single player but played some free roam multiplayer last night. Free roam is so much fun when you have a posse of friends to go around with. Also its fun to grief on the other players when they are trying to do gang hideouts, and just in general.
I finally got round to starting Portal. It's fun so far, but I hope it gets more difficult.
Heh.
Heh heh.
I'm not sure I played Portal correctly. I reached the end credits in under two hours, and didn't find any part of it difficult. Did I miss something? I was expecting a bit more.

That's it. If you want some hardness, try to get all the achievements. lol
Yeah, Portal isn't a difficult game. It can take a little more time if you're looking for the "secret" areas (those are pretty cool), but all in all it's roughly a 1-hour game.
Found Battlefield 1942 at a jumble sale (The guy selling them has one of the best kept collections I've seen, effectively new.). The single player suffers from making actual involvement in the battle difficult outside of shooting enemies, compounded by the cheap solutions always win out (Plane over to a far point at the beginning of the map and cap it before the enemy even gets there.).
Can't really speak for multilayer, getting errors from all sides: Custom maps, general no-connection errors. Kinda the eventual conclusion of server rot.

The community is essentially dead. Single player is just multiplayer except with bots. Honestly, it was probably a pretty poor decision to purchase it in the first place. You should have at least gotten Battlefield 2.

The challenges are hard, though.
