  • There is no food or drink allowed in the Main Theater. There is no security check of whats in your bags though. Please don't rub it in my face if you have food or drink because I will be the Enforcer throwing you out if you do.

There are no plans to have official DVD's anymore. I guess the profit margin wasn't worth the work for the Penny Arcade Staff. There is the unofficial community DVD, that's still going on.

Speaking of which, is recording permitted in all theaters, including the main theater? Are there any events for which audio/video recording is not permitted? Other than, of course, something an exhibitor might show you in a secret place with an NDA.

  • At the moment you can film in any theater. I'm not aware of any restrictions from exhibitors, but those have happened at the last minute in the past. I know that the Benaroya will ask you to fill out a form saying you won't make any money off of anything you film, thats not a PAX requirement.

    That's actually pretty chill.
  • Badge holder, name tag, service pins GET!

Now, all I need is the PAX Prime Enforcer badge.

BTW Blue is the new Black.
    East vs. West
    Red vs. Blue

    There's a reason this one's called PRIME.

Because it's Second best? Two is the first Prime Number, after all.

Okay, I'm packing. We're leaving at the crack of dawn. If anyone thinks they might need me to DJ or something, speak now. This will decide whether or not I bring my 2.1 speakers.

EDIT: Murphy is conspiring against me. I can't find the antenna for my RC car. *Deep breath* it's okay. If I can't find it, I cant find it. PAX is the fun. No need to bring the fun to PAX. And besides, one less thing that might break. One less thing to carry. One less thing to worry about. *Deep breath*

  • I'll be heading up to Seattle around 8AM. If you want to hang out send me a message on Twitter: RosakaM or send me a text message: islandergirlro@vtext.com.

The weather is going to be nice the next two days, so it's all about shorts and flippy floppies. ^___^
  • I feel like I already shared this, but couldn't find the post if I did. But if anyone has spare time Thursday, some buds and I put this together:

We'll be going to Shorty's around 7:30 (earlier, in all likelihood). I don't really know how we'll identify as the group of folks there, but I'll be the underage-lookin' redheaded dude in a collared shirt. That much is certain.
  • Gotta go to bed. Gotta wake up early. 20 hour drive up ahead.
  • Awesome pics from the exhibition hall
Yeah, I took a peak during set up. The Epic Mickey booth looks cool as well as the Tron Cycle. The Fallout: New Vegas with the large dinosaur test-your-strength is pretty awesome. I'm sure you have to hit the device really hard to get a cool prize like the new "Fallout boy" puppet.

It's great that PAX got the Annex again this year for Tabletop and vendors, however the street entrance is closed off because of construction. Because of this people can only enter in through the Exhibition hall and go down escalators to get there. It's a tiny bit of a logistical nightmare for those working TT, but all you need is a few Enforcers to fix the problem.

Another thing is that Gabe did artwork for this Marvel MMO card they were supposed to give out exclusively to promote the MMO. PAX was going to give it out for people who came to a booth, but apparently word on the street is it's not going to happen because Marvel didn't like Gabe's artwork for his version of Thor. Lame.

But already having a blast at PAX. I didn't know Emi was coming to PAX, so it was a huge surprise. (Thank you Gomi for the markers/pens!) Haven't met anyone yet from the forums, but that'll soon be remedied.

Played games with Gomi, Rym, & Scott. Scott sucks at Dixit, fyi. =P
  • You guys are apparently part of a conspiracy - Part of the reason rumors are going mental about DNF being possibly demoed at PAX, and part of the fuel for the fire? John St John is showing up at PAX. I've had it related to me over IM that this is absolute proof, because OBVIOUSLY a games developer brought him out there...

Yeah. He's already in Seattle. He's the guest of Scrym's Late Night panel tonight at 10. I'm pretty sure he was brought to PAX for just this panel, iirc. As for DNF, can't help you there. :P

I know. What I'm saying is that people think a Developer brought him out, because he's the voice of duke, and there were some rumblings about gearbox finishing DNF a few weeks ago, and PAX is a big event where things are announced.

Seriously, I know it's bollocks. It's the games blogs, and other people that are freaking out about it - ie, my mate who is sad he can't go, and is telling me about how the voice of Duke Nukem was bought there by a developer, because OBVIOUSLY it's about DNF.

I know he's wrong. But I'm just passing on that they're adding fuel to the DNF fire by accident. Or on Purpose, which would be a pretty epic troll.

Ah, I thought that you probably knew, but wasn't sure.

Regardless, it's a clever way to keep perpetuating the those who still have hope for the game. Silly people and their hopes. XD
  • Having a great time at PAX so far. Eating at Top Pot Doughnuts now after a long night of tabletop at Sheraton. Got in games of Citadels and Red November
  • Showering and such. Going to get in keynote line at 9/9:30.

Same here. Maybe a little earlier if we can manage it.
  • Has anyone bet on Duke yet?

    Always.
  • Man, they seem to be doing a lot for a game that's never going to come out.

It seems that Gearbox (Borderlands) took over and is going to finish the projects.

Keynote was good, Q&A was awesome. Met greay people waiting in that long keynote line as usual.

Got in a game of the new Castle Ravenloft boardgame from D&D and I have to say I was kinda impressed after having sour experiences on dungeon crawling games.

Expo hall is ridiculously huge. Lines are crazy for things like Dead Space 2, Duke Nukem, etc., but media pass got me into Dragon Age 2 and Portal 2. The "can you succeed in making a website" gave me a lot of tips and motivation for doing a better job w/ my site as well.

Eating now then freeplay, and Late Night show!

  • Molly23 is probably the best thing to come to PAX. Her version of System of the Down & the Wikipedia song was amazing.
  • Molly was bitchin' at the Late Show, no doubt about it. Rym & Scott, nice work up there! It was a good time, especially for a first instance of a new event.

I was going to come hang afterwards and play some games, but I am afraid I got sidetracked. Sorry I didn't get to say hello to everybody! I wish I'd've been there for more than just Friday this year but it wasn't meant to be.
  • Best. PAX. Ever.

I'm going to finally get some sleep. I'll post more later.
  • I'm still on the road back to SoCal, but let me say this:

Even though so much went wrong on this trip, for the brief time I spent actually in the convention, I was having the time of my life. This can be attributed, to no small degree, to the quality of the company I kept during trip. As with when I first met Sail in real life, the case is simply as such: The time we have spent together on this forum, this medium which allows only one of the most basic forms of communication used in modern society, simply cannot compare to actually getting to spend time with you all in person. Time well spent, in my opinion.

May this be the worst PAX I ever experience. See you later.
  • Headed back to airport now. Didn't actually wind up meeting anyone from here but hope you all had a great time! I know I did. My group took the suggestion of checking out some tabletop games and watching the sat concerts from the queue room. Awesome idea.

Didn't think I would be playing in any tourneys but decided at the last minute to enter Small World and got second place. The medals are awesome! I'll post a pic later.

Omegathon ending was fantastic: the omegaclaw! I have nightmares about those things eating my money as a child growing up on the boardwalk.
