  • I'd honestly just buy an old 3S-GT engine with everything already bolted in and the harness.
  • A 3S-GTE won't necessarily just bolt right in the place of a 1ZZ-FE.

**Yes, I know too much about Toyota performance engines.
  • I'm pretty sure you can get the brackets for cheap, you'd just probably have to scrap the clutch and fuel pump.

    I don't understand that sentence.
  • Argh, I want a toy car! :(
  • If there was somewhere you could go do this for real, rather than it just being an audi promo stunt, that would pretty much be the tits.

  • Yeah, black stopped even having a chance after that grenade blast.

The rocker panel (?) Right behind my drivers side door has rotted out. The hole is about three inches high and seven wide. Any suggestions for repair? 98 Neon.

Need one more year out of this car.

Yep, MrRoboto isn't leading you astray. Just sort it out with some body bog. If you know how to patch walls(as every good homeowner does), then you should be able to manage this job - the fanciest you'd need to go would be to pop rivet some thin sheet-metal as a backing.

  • FuckInearlyforgot - Check what's behind the panel, or ideally, take it off before you go chopping holes in anything. You don't want to cut into anything a)live or b)important.
  • Considering the Geneva Auto Show has been happening and has brought to light lots of new automotive tech, the next Friday Night Party Line is going to be about cars. Churba and I will obviously be in, but who else would be interested in joining the party?
  • I would love to, but I'll be driving to Pennsylvania. :(
  • While Victor is absolutely accurate regarding my agreeing to this, I would like it noted that at no point before right now was I actually made aware of this fact.

The hole is so large I can put arm in.

Basic bondo kit? Does those still have the wire mesh and putty?

Bondo is used to smooth out, not to fill in, you are repairing a car, not making a death trap.

Yeah, they do, but you're going to want to back it with a bit of sheetmetal rather than just mesh. It's pretty easy, you just need to form the sheet to the rough contour of the panel, and either tack it or pop-rivet it in place. As Omar said, Body bog isn't for rebuilding, it's for smoothing over the top of a rebuild.

I didn't mean we'd be doing it today. That would be a bit short notice.

I think we've only ever twice recorded on a Friday. We do often release on a Friday, though, even if it's not always. Gahn george. Gahn Omar. Join us.

Just tell me when. Preferably not tonight.

It won't be tonight. As for the rest, Sonic's the boss, he'll contact you about it.

New Yorkers learn a little about hooning:

And Kimi Raikkonen is the worst driving instructor ever.

  • Wow, he looks like an utter pillock.

Kimi? Nah, Kimi's a legend, and SUPER nice. He's just not the most verbose of chaps, notoriously hard to interview, too. There's a feature from Top Gear where he teaches James May to drive on snow for a Finnish casual rally, he's not that much different in that segment. They've probably cut that for the best clips that don't give too much away, too.

  • That's a shame, then, because it makes him look pretty bad.
  • His interviews are legendary, they never get more than a yes, no, I don't know from him.
  • edited March 2013
Of the few interviews I've seen, that seems to be common of many Finn rally drivers.
