  • Doing backups. Server down.

So when is the new map going to go up?
  • edited December 2010
Yeah, I'm starting to draw about Minecraft without the server.

    Edit: Proof I drew Minecraft.

I apologize that it ruined something you made. I didn't intend for that to happen.
That is no problem. I know very well that the game is full of wonkiness. Shit happens. :) By the way, I'm liking the terrain now that we reset. I just feel sorry for Kiey, ahah!

@Mr. Roboto: that Japanese temple is just awesome. Also, where'd you get the minimap?

  • @Roboto: Also, which skin pack are you using? It's awesome.

Look for MrMMods on the minecraft forums, it has some goodies including ambient occlusion.

This is the current version needed to make the most recent MC build work. Ambient occlusion adds more depth and realism to shadows, and makes the game look richer.
  • UPDATE: I've added a plugin that should make leaves automatically disappear (like they used to) when a tree is chopped down.
  • For those on the fence on picking up the game, make sure you get it before December 20th. It will hit beta then, the price will go up and the free updates will not be available to you.
  • For those hopping into the new server world, there is now a large mine not far from the main spawn area. I did some mining and came across a massive natural shaft that has all kinds of goodies in it, including obsidian at the bottom.
I haven't found the best way to harvest it, since it's literally right on top of a pool of lava.
  • I haven't found the best way to harvest it, since it's literally right on top of a pool of lava.
When I harvested obsidian, I hit it with a diamond pick. I counted the number of hits, so I knew when it was going to break. Then I grabbed the block before it fell in the lava by standing right on top of it. Then I filled in the lava gap with a regular stone block.
  • When I hit lava (or obsidian) I set up a small infinite water pool and start excavating the entire lava "bubble" by digging a trench one block away around the lava, filling it with water, and then taking the rock between the lava and water away. Then I repeat this one level lower until I have a huge blob of obsidian encased lava at the center of an even larger cave. Then I build up a gantry on one side that holds water and start harvesting the entire blob.

South of the spawn point I've begun a port town. Feel free to build there if y'all want.

  • Finally DONE!

  • Busy building a zen garden and tea house in the middle of the forest.

This map is getting some serious Japanese flavor.

  • I can now create custom zones on the server with various build permissions and griefing protection.

For instance, only KIey (and admins) can build or destroy blocks within the zone I've designated as the city of Sirako. No mobs will spawn in his zone.
  • Looks good. How often are you going to refresh the repositories? Or are we going to make it a community task to fill them?
  • If you can set build rights, can we get a community TNT repository, now? I'd like to do some tunneling and caverning with it, and with anti-griefing in place we shouldn't have an issue.
  • I've not played Minecraft yet, but I'm really enjoying the photos in this thread. How much work does it take to build a structure like the ones above? I mean, in hours spent since the new server went up?
  • The protected zones plugin has encountered numerous problems. It is off for the time being.
  • I keep getting end of stream errors.

    Fuck.

An arena for PVP. That is, if I can figure out localized application of PVP within a zone.

It just says something like "Connection Terminated: End of Stream," and that's it.

PVP zone needs more traps. Let me build some!

What's the game you play where both players are above a pit of creepers on a platform made of glass and both have to try and mine the ground out from under their opponenet?

Also, ringouts need to be more deadly, maybe edge the arena with fire.

Backup and saves you have. Delete the .minecraft folder (Start>Run>%Appdata%). Run Minecraft.exe. It should work. If not, then when I get back from work I can delete your user file and that will likely solve the connection error, but you'll lose your inventory.
  • Pro-tip: Don't be a dick on the server. I'll IP-Ban someone in a second for doing stupid shit. Jason is much more lenient than I.
