I wonder if this is the first time I've seen a person die. It might well be. EDIT: Probably not, but it's pretty fucking visceral nonetheless.
Not the first for me. Seeing death in video gives a sense of disconnect for me. Seeing it in reality is just more horrible. At least you could help then, but there nothing I could do about shit like this. Makes me cry.
I'm in Saudi right now. Not a sign of anything unusual. well, other than the king comming home and promising 10 billion in aid to the average Saudi. That would be a repeat of Saudi style, when the last King died the new King gave out millions and millions to the Saudi's in a direct bribe.
I head back home on the 8th of March, I'll be watching to see if we head back, but frankly I don't see the Saudi's repeating the events of the other countries in the area.

Saudi Arabia is pretty rich, so I guess that helps keep people more complacent.
Epic is a horrifically inappropriate word to use for the slaughter of protesters by militiamen wielding rocket launchers and submachine guns.
That's weird. I looked at that article around lunch, and it said something about a Libyan major general defecting and training protesters to march on the capital.
Has the story changed?
Ah, here it is:
A senior Libyan army commander who defected to the side of anti-government protesters said Thursday that his soldiers were training volunteers to join the fight to topple Gadhafi.
Maj. Gen. Soliman Mahmoud Al-Obeidy, who commands army units based in the eastern city of Tobruk, allied with rebel forces Wednesday. He told NPR that fresh volunteers were coming in every day.
This has really become an all-out war.
And yes, "epic" is an apt descriptor. "Terrible" also applies.
Nope, story never changed, people just didn't read it. Yes it is terrible what the loyalists are doing, but it is amazing to see the Libyans pick up military defectors, have those defectors train civilians, form a provisional government, then organize to take the capitol. I think it goes with out saying that the regime was "terrible". After that's like what this whole thread is about.

Libya just sent fighter pilots to bomb the protesters in Tripoli.

Epic. This is history in the making.

Libyan airstrike on rebel forces.
What is everyone's opinion on a US intervention?
