    I think I only got about three episodes into this season so I'm way behind, but wow. Will catching up make this feel any less wtf?

    Meh. The Sun-based Princess and the Moon-based Princess have an apprentice named Twilight, who they've (99% Celestia, but still) been grooming since the first episode for great things. Doesn't seem out of left field to me.

    Not commenting on whether I like it or not. Just saying it wasn't surprising to me at all.

    And, seriously, though: Has Celestia bothered to run a psyche profile on Twilight before deciding this? Girl is kinda unstable.

    When the show was renewed, it was renewed for seasons 3 AND 4.
    I'm trying to verify the origin of it, but this is apparently one of the writers:

    I'm of the mind that, if the show's writers make a decision about a plot event, then that's okay because we can trust that it's part of the greater story. I don't feel that story decisions should come down from on high like that.

    I don't understand why the whole Princess Twilight thing is a surprise to anyone. The idea that Twilight is being groomed as, like, an heir or whatever has been around since the first episodes.
