Sounds like some people are a bit down on season 3 based on the podcast. It's interesting, I qualitatively felt it was a little weak until I actually ranked out all of the episodes so far using the tool someone made over on roundstable (an edited version of the character ranker), at which point I realized it was pretty much indistinguishable from the first two seasons episode by episode, with some modest upsides and downsides. I would say that some narrative elements felt rushed, presumably because they didn't know if the season was going to be the end of the series and they only had 13 episodes to work with. However, it's far from, say, what happened to Simpsons around seasons 9-10 or so where the tenor of the show changed completely.

  • More finalized designs for Equestria Girls. It seems they have ponytails that look like pony tails.

Well, I cant say I'm fond of the lack of diversity in the character designs (Knee high boots, okay. But knee high sneakers?), but it might be a decent show.

Nope. Don't care for the designs at all.

  • Wings stay, but horns don't?

You killed it man, you killed it.

I have lowest expectations for this thing.

  • There are a myriad of fan artists who did more interesting designs than the ones presented in that image. I'm not excited.

  • Oddly, I had a draft comment which I mustn't have hit the post button on that simply said "Well, it wouldn't be so bad without the pony-coloured skins and the cheek tattoos."

On reflection, maybe a bit too much lantern jaw on one of them. The idea of having accessories like that belt-buckle, the hair clip and so on, that's a better idea than the stupid cheek tattoos.
  • I'm guessing one reason all the girls follow the exact same model is purely animation savings of some sort.

They have a Quagmire look to them.

I just see this as a spin off and nothing more. It's worth giving it a chance, it might be amazing.

However I am not getting my hopes up.

I wouldn't say all of them, but the twilight sparkle one has a head like a fuckin' watermelon.

  • Yeah, those designs are ugly, and the clothing styles aren't nearly differentiated enough. If you're going to go with humanized MLP characters, you should go all the way.
  • Hnnnngh...

  • That was beautiful.
  • Welp. Time to go buy an indie game. I know it's not ponies, but this ponificated trailer convinced me.
  • I know it's highly irrelevant but I must say this;
"Hang on The Cheat, we're taking this baby TO THE MOOOOOON!"
