I would have said it sooner if not for my job being a fuckfest, but I do like ROE's idea of a script to just hide threads we don't want to look at. Any time I see that yellow new post count by the side of a thread I want to click it, then I feel the need to respond in the Republican thread in particular, and you've seen the results...
The internet connection on my computer, and just my computer, not the other ones on my network, keeps cutting out, and I have to disable and enable the connection to get it back. It usually lasts about a minute or less. What do?
1. Update your network card drivers
2. In the device manager properties of your device go to power management and uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
3. Change the network channel in your router settings.
Oh. That makes a lot more sense than any of I explanations I thought of.
I actually went to a Cider Tasting last week, and they said "You can support us by not drinking brands like Woodchuck." It was ironic, because I tasted 8 ciders and only two of them were good.
-One tasted like apple pie and the other tasted like genuinely tasty cider. -4 tasted like bad white wine -1 tasted like a fermented Sprite -1 tasted like a community pool.
I would, but access to that article is through Thieme; I don't have access to their archives. Also, the abstract is in English, but the full text is German.
Yeah. Hit me up if you ever need anything else, though! I have journal access to the vast majority of English language archives and I'm always glad to help.
If you have a high deductible health plan they're a god send if you will likely use at least enough health care to satisfy your deductible. Even if you won't, an FSA for what you will use is great to have. It's all pre-tax and you have access to the funds right on Jan 1 before you've even deposited them (through payroll deduction per pay period.)
What the fuck is a Medical FSA and I do I want to opt for one?
It is a flex spending account. I will now describe how it usually works, but details may vary with your specific plan.
You take money out of your paycheck, pre-tax, and put it into the account. Sometimes your employer just puts money in there for you. Then you can spend this money, usually with a special credit card, to buy things. You can only buy medical things. So you can pay the doctor with it. You can buy glasses with it. You can even by over the counter drugs with it. Rym bought prescription ski goggles.
However, if there is money left in the flex spending account that you did not use, it goes away! Be careful!
There are also HSA. An HSA is somewhat similar to an FSA, however it is a savings account. The money doesn't disappear. The funds stay there, and even collect interest. An HSA is good for someone like me without many medical expenses. You can even just use it for the interest, and forget the medical part. The problem is the money is still non-taxed, so if you try to take it out for a non-medical reason, the IRS will call.
I have a low deductible plan. Can I use this for my copays for doctor and/or dentist visits? Pharmacy drugs?
Yes. You can use it for all copays. If you're able to well predict your out of pocket expenditures for medications, you should definitely avail yourself, as there is a significant tax break once you reach a certain threshhold.
You have to be careful because whatever you don't use in a year is lost at the end of the year (usually with a grace period to get receipts in for reimbursement, though often you'll have an FSA debit card as well).
Many over the counter drugs are no longer available to FSA account reimbursement or debit card use, so watch out for that. Bandages and other durable medical supplies are, though.
FSA's are good if you definitely know you're going to have a major procedure done the following year and there is going to be a large out of pocket on your end or if you have a plan with a deductible.
Edit Edit: My birth control will be free so no need for a FSA. Just a few copays here and there where I can easily pay. Just hopefully no dental issues.
For those who get FSAs with electronic reimbursement:
If you get some sort of procedure done to where for some reason your insurance first denies it, but should have covered it sometimes your FSA automatically reimburses you for the costs of that procedure. It's good to make note that you don't spend all that money if you need it for other procedures down the road. This happened to me to where I had to contact my provider and insurance and had to have the provider resubmit the claims to get paid.
After all was said and done my FSA account was wiped out and I had extra money. I put it in savings for the rest of the year.
Edit: Also most FSA accounts give a grace period to use it all up until March of the next year.
It should be noted that the grace period is for submitting expenses that were incurred during the plan year, and that you can't apply expenses incurred in Q1 2013 to your 2012 account balance.
