Super Hexagon is no good in the iPhone 5 without the update, so I installed the wonky update. After a few rounds I beat my previous record by a second. Then I saw the new update. Bah. Oh well. Game Center still saves my record, so I'm not too upset.
Badly Draw Faces is a silly fun game that is cool because it has a narwhal on it. It's something that will last a few days, but it's fun while it lasts.
Fuck yes! Beat Hexagoner finally! The iPhone 5 does help a lot. No lag. Wider screen means my fingers don't cover what I need to see. When you screw up, it feels like you screwed up, and not like you got screwed by the game.
There is nothing worse than having a great run ruined by a finger tap in the non-touch part of the iPhone's face. Much fist-shaking ensues.
I haven't been playing much since I beat the game but I think I will always come back to this one. I went back after another week away and tried to re-beat Hyper Hexagonest and improved my score since I'm not on the Top 25 leaderboard anymore. I broke 55 seconds four times, two of them over 58 seconds and back to back. Gotta be some sort of mental block! I was able to just laugh it off, but if I hadn't already beaten that difficulty, I probably would have burst a blood vessel.

I really really suck at Hexagonest. The triangle moves faster, so the controls seem slippery compared to the other modes. I keep dying because I moved too far.
The lag does seem more noticeable after last update now. I wish I could turn off the music in game which might let the game run smoother. Or maybe I just need get myself the new iPod touch.
That music makes even the most mundane daily activities gripping with excitement.
I read an interview with the creator of Super Hexagon and he brought up a great bit of a design work. They intentionally start the music in a random point every time you die. Otherwise, you'd learn to resent the music, and eventually, the repetitiveness of the game.
I gave that a lot of thought as well. At first I thought the restarts should have come instantaneously, with no break in the music, but I've found that I play Super Meat Boy and Super Hexagon quite differently. Super Hexagon turned out to be way more nerve-wracking, and I'm afraid of what it'd be like with instant respawn. At least now, my mind has to consciously say "you know you should be taking a break, but you're going to tap that thumb and restart again, aren't you?"
Aha, I see that now. Small difference of opinion I suppose then. I thought it was a nice tough, but can understand that it'd just as easily aggravate others.
Something I realized yesterday: you can't gift an app using your iTunes credits. They charge the credit card they have on file, which doesn't make any sense.
Oh well, I will just continue to have this fairly large balance on my iTunes account for a long long time.
Any other recommendations for games? I really want the people who made Kingdom Rush to make something else. I really liked that game. Or the new Plants Vs. Zombies needs to come out sooner.
I will look into that. I tried this sandbox game, Topia. It's pretty interesting. Basic, but I like the graphics. I need to mess around with it more to get a better opinion.
Crazy Taxi for iOS is apparently a thing now. If it's a good port control-wise, which is hard to tell either way from reviews right now since it apparently pretty crashy, then I'll be playing that shit constantly.
$5. Not insane, but I would have priced it a dollar or so cheaper. The way Crazy Taxi plays though just lends itself so well to a mobile platform when you just have five minutes to kill.

I've been wanting to but I have not seriously set aside the time for the boardgame meetups.
It's free, if you don't mind ads.

Nope, still ahead of Scott.
