Halo 4 isn't a Bungie game, though. I won't be buying it. ODST was a letdown and Reach didn't make up for it.

[Acknowledging that VentureJ had me ninja'd on the developer info.]
Were Fallout 3 and New Vegas not as good as Fallout 2 because they changed developers?
No. I'd say that Fallout 3 was just a worse game because it didn't have the same tone and VATS was OP, but that NV was as good. However, Bethesda is a proven developer and has a history of making excellent open world RPGs, and they didn't disappoint. We know nothing of 343 Studios, and Microsoft didn't bring anything new to the table. Hell, even one of the Halo announcements is about a remake.

I'm not saying that it will definitely be bad, but continuing the Halo series without Bungie is as-of-yet unproven, and the existence of FPSs like Duke Nukem Forever, Portal 2, and Battlefield 3 means that such an announcement and such games are far overshadowed by their competition.

E3 is about bringing new material to the table, and Microsoft failed. Whether or not the new Halo games will be worth anything remains to be seen, but I don't have a lot of disposable income to spread around, and there are many other games that look more interesting presently.

  • Release dates don't matter. Halo 4 is just more Halo. It's an underwhelming announcement, and I wouldnt be surprised if Halo will get the Call of Duty Cash-Cow Milking annual release treatment.

    It already has. Halo Wars, Q1 2009. ODST, Q3 2009. Halo Reach, Q3 2010. Halo 4, projected Q3/Q4 2011.

Umm Duh. I am a cybernetic organism sent back from the future to protect the Halo franchise. In the future COD fans become sentient and take over. I am here to stop that future. Come with me if you want to live.

Again. Halo 4 is 2012... 4th quater at that.

    Oh yeah. My bad.

It's actually the Halo 1 remake that comes this November. That pretty much solidifies the annual release schedule.

    Halo 2001

    Halo 2 2004

    Halo 3 2007

    Halo 4 2012

The other games are parts of the story already known told from a difrent point of view. The timeline I listed is the only one that matters because they are the only ones that introduce new information to the story.

  • So let me get this straight: If I didn't read the Halo books and comics, I haven't really experienced Halo, a video game franchise? Also, you can dictate what games bearing a franchises name matter? Yeah, fucking right. By those grounds, I hereby claim that CoD is not a huge annual cash-cow franchise because there hasn't been a true WWII game since 2008 and before that there was no annual pattern. EVERY MW GAME DOESN'T COUNT.

If a game bears the franchise title, it is a part of that franchise. If those games come out annually, it's an annual release franchise. The Halo franchise is, by definition, an annual release franchise now, and it's because Microsoft knows people will pay for it and they want your money. And if the game is good, fine! Great! I'll get a copy. But never think for a second that there won't be another in a year or that MS doesn't want your money, because there will be and they do, until people hate the games and they find some other character and game world to run into the ground Simpsons-style.

I'm done with this stupid fucking argument, here's a picture of a cat dressed like a banana split eating a fucking banana.

Y'know, I'm not so down on the game as everyone else seems to be. Simply because I thought halo 1 was great, and I still play it to this day, so I'm going to wait and see what the deal is with it before I start shitting on it. They might actually do a good job of re-making one of the - if not THE - best game in the franchise.

    Also, More Battlefield 3

  • Aaaaaaaah good GOD those Battlefield 3 trailers are sexy.
  • Yeah, there isn't much that has been announced at E3 that I am excited for that I haven't already heard about. I'm just looking forward to the Nintendo press conference for some new stuff.
  • Sneak peek at Nintedo press conference today:

  • Four Swords. DSi. Free.

    Awesome.
  • Four Swords. DSi. Free.
.... Will that work on the 3DS? because I only have a DS phat... and was thinking of upgrading.
  • I didn't see any Advance Wars. Fail.
  • I don't get it.
  • Prediction: Nintendo will continue down its path of failing to fulfill potential of its hardware with sub-par software.
  • Nintendo is certainly pushing far more third party content this time around.
