Martin has done such a good job in changing opinions of characters for the better (Jaime, the spider, Cersei)
Psh, fuck Cercei. I hated reading from her point of view because I felt like I was supposed to feel sorry for her, and I still hate her. But at least we get to feel her shame when she (almost) gets what she deserves (I felt that she deserved much worse, maybe that'll happen later if Martin doesn't die on us.)
Srsly though, I think Tyrion will be a big hero in the end, and maybe everyone will stop hating him.
I didn't feel sorry for her either. I reveled in her misfortunes.
I also am hoping that Tyrion will be a big hero in the end, but knowing Martin, and how nothing is every simple or black/while with him, I highly doubt that Tyrion will get the acclaim he deserves. He certainly didn't before... (avoiding spoilers)

Oh I agree completely. I don't like Cercei but I didn't hate her as much after her comeuppence. Possibly seeing each of your children die in horrible ways (something I'm sure she lives in constant fear of) is torment enough to make me consider the character's motivations in terms of shades of grey instead of the black/white she received from me before. I'm reminded of how how Rarity warmed on people after a few episodes. She was still nowhere near the best pony but she wasn't teh worst pony either.
It was a nice introduction to the new players on the scene. I was screaming at the end because I wanted to see more.
I did like:
Joffrey getting slapped by Cersei. It made me happy. It also put a big smile on my face when Tyrion told Cersei that she's the disappointment in the family.
Theon Greyjoy & Yara on horseback: EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
Tyrion still has the best lines. I get happier witch each episode.
I see nothing but bad things for Daenerys.
Also, NOOO Jon Snow!
Overall, I don't mind the renaming of Asha to Yara Greyjoy. Jeremy is annoyed by it because he finds Asha/Yara to be a better and stronger character than Osha. I like that she's named Yara because remembering the names of new characters takes a while for me because they don't really say their names a lot in the series and I normally go by faces.
I also loved the encounter between Tyrion and the Spider. The subtle threats in the dialogue are just so good.
i am kind of disappoint so far.. where is all the subtlety?
first & second ep:
Littlefinger and Spider are too obvious for their characters. i do not care about the brothel scene. completely pointless, a lame excuse for soft-core porn. there's an important difference between nudity in a good show and soft-core porn. also: why kill dany's dude? why she flirt with every boy?
third ep:
better -- i appreciate the pacing. don't care for "yara" always making the same face *glower* or the HEY DO YOU KNOW RENLY IS GAY? HE'S GAY! NO, LIKE, REALLY! HATES BOOBIES! SEE?? BOOBIES!!

Ew.
Did I mention he's working on his doctorate for medeivalism? He translates old English texts and artifacts for the University of Connecticut.
Once again, Jason is living other people's first impressions witch each episode of GoT. What's his Twitter handle, so I can follow?
I want to see his reactions to Baelor. I'm still angry about that.
Methinks there are some things from the 3rd book in there... however I'm not sure as it was all a blur.
Can't wait! :D:D
Errbody getting Julius Caesar'd in here.
