  • Yeah. We watched the first episode of the new season, and haven't had any strong desire to continue straight away as we did with season one.
  • I am still enjoying the show:

I honestly don't care nor do I mind the nudity/sex, but I can see your point.

As for episode 3, Tyrion messing with the small council was awesome. I thought it was curious on how they really focused on him putting the gold coins on the arm of the chair twice and how his hands were kind of shaking. I don't know if it really means anything, but something I noticed.

When I saw Brienne, I thought of Deuce Bigalow Male Gigalo and said out loud, "That's a big bitch!". I do like a good woman warrior. I did like how Lady Stark answered the Knight of Flowers mockingly to his questions.

Sansa's performance is much better. I still don't like her, but I also pity her.

The same can be said for Theon. I really loved the torn expressions he gave when in the chamber looking at the letter to Robb or during the rebirth ceremony.

I didn't mind the man love. It's refreshing than seeing hookers all the time.

As for Arya, always ending on such a cliffhanger. I really look forward to seeing how she progresses.

I'm not saying I dislike nudity, sex, or man love (not at all!). It just seems gratuitous to a point of obvious and intentional "eye candy". Same reason I got tired of many Showtime shows.

Upon watching the SNL skit.. yeah.

I completely agree with you on the Sansa & Theon bit. The show has made me more sympathetic to them than I felt from reading the books. Maybe because I'm no longer in their heads with their stupid thoughts..

  • That SNL skit is bullshit. Guess what? You don't have to be 13 to like boobs. Boobs are good. Sex is good. The SNL skit is just an elitist take on prudishness.

So you'd be happy if the show were entirely boobs and sex without really following or supporting plot?
  • That's a pretty dumb straw man.

Yes. Have you seen those boobs? I'm surprised they haven't made a Game of Thrones porn. Wait a minute...*Google searchers* Hey!!! One of the actresses is already a German porn stars. Check out Sibel Kekilli #Sploosh!!!

  • It's also a joke I think you are taking too seriously.

I'm (Clearly) not Jason, but let me take a crack at this one - No. Because that's not Game of Thrones, that's Softcore porn in a Medieval fantasy setting. The point is that the boobs and sex are just easy targets if you want to appeal to prudishness with your comedy/humor, especially if every joke in the sketch is is "There is quite a bit of nakedness in this, and so it was written by a horny 13 year old. Look how stupid and horny this kid is!"

Edit - I should add, not my personal opinion, Just trying to expand upon what I suspect Jason is getting at. Though I'll be honest, it's not exactly a quality sketch, it isn't even just low-hanging fruit, it's fruit that's fallen off the tree and rotted.

I was hoping/assuming you wouldn't be happy, which would open the dialogue of where to draw the line in terms of balancing nudity/sex and plot.

I agree. It's using an overplayed trope to hyperbolically convey the gratuitous level of sex&nudity. But that's the nature of satirical comedy, and doesn't invalidate the central point.

I realize I am equating Jason's dislike of the skit for his opinion on the show. If he's merely objecting to an overused trope, well.. that's SNL, right?

lol, not surprised. hopefully, it was their intention to make an "edgy" show based on GoT, as opposed to a GoT-themed soft-core.

I do not think the skit is saying you have to be 13 to like boobs. I think the skit is taking a jab at whoever made the changes to the plot of adding scenes of sex for no good reason (Other than for media attention and possibly for viewers to get their rocks off) by calling them a 13 year old boy.

In my opinion, I think that the changes that have been made in season two have been going a bit far. I can understand changes for timeliness.

Such as where they cut out a few chapters of Arya, Gendry, Hotpie etc wandering the land after Yoren is killed by having them captured as soon as Yoren is killed. Thats a big timesaver and you dont miss that much story.

However when they add scenes, such as Littlefinger watching a dude having oral sex who is watching people have sex and then threaten a prostitue with being a bad investment. What is the point of that scene? (other then to show sex and make Littlefinger look more like an antagonist) It wasn't even a mentioned in the book, and they do little but make Littlefinger look more like a bad guy, when for the vast majority of the series you have no clue what the dude is up to or his motivations or allegiance.

So cutting scenes to save time, only to add scenes for little apparent reason other than to show sex can be disappointing. And I support making jabs at whoever suggested and approved those changes.

  • I am finding season two to be lame. As has been pointed out already all of the subtlety is gone.

I wasn't sure right away why I didn't like the second season but after seeing three episodes I have found the story changes annoying and the lack of subtlety to be a major turn off.

I was able to deal with the changes to Ned's injured leg in season one well enough because that scene helped portray Jamie's desire to be honorable but so far the changes in season two feel like someone told a writer, "speed it up!"

    Amen

Speed it up, But add sex
  • I'm enjoying the season so far, but I completely agree with the stuff said about Littlefinger's scenes. I'm getting really tired of seeing that same whorehouse (and made-up whore character) over and over. Yes there's a lot of good old fashioned whoring in the books, but its centered around Tyrion. I'd rather see more funny Tyrion antics.

I'm also hoping they add a bit more to the Daenerys side of things. I wanna see dragons and conquering already! >O
  • I don't have time to intelligently express my reasons, but I'll just say that I haven't felt disappointment in Season 2 yet. Perhaps my mind was already braced for a short lul? The second half of A Clash of Kings through the first half of A Storm of Swords is my favorite stretch of the novels, so I remain confident that Game of Thrones will hold on as the best show on television for a while once it picks back up.
  • yea, they are probably holding their budget for the second half and reusing old whores ....
  • The scene with double peepers. Still amuses me. Its almost a yo dawg meme.

Awww yeahhhh. If they had just... dropped a reference somewhere, I would have been happy.
  • I didn't expect everyone to read into that sketch so much.

  • Lesson learned.
  • Apreche, try again. You can do much better than that abomination.

    Episode 4: Garden of Bones

THAT ENDING! OMG. I really shouldn't have started eating before the scene.

Man, they are making Joffrey even more sinister and vile.

It's really good to see something good happen for Dany for once.

I really enjoyed that episode. It showed a bit of all the major players (excluding the Greyjoys) and I thought they were all done well.

Actually there's nothing wrong with the meme, Apreche just fails at it. He can do a much better, though I suspect he was just being a lazy cunt.

Awww, Rochelle, no love for shadow babbies?

  • Joffery why are you such a sadistic cunt.
  • Because we are supposed to hate him. He does it well.
  • I dig the extra Littlefinger - he's a fine actor (Carcetti for Mayor!) and clearly they wanted to give him more stuff to do as he disappears for very long stretches in the book. His scene in the whorehouse and going to see Cat colours in things nicely.

Yeah it does seem they go a lot faster, especially if you've read the books, but that's usually the way it seems if you've read a book. The Bran chapters are mercifully almost gone entirely! They also make some amusing budgetary decisions - much like the battle where Tyrion is knocked out, most battles are sidestepped (the taking of Arie and Gendry) or you have first strike cut to bodies on the ground. I guess they are saving their budget for ... a big future battle. :D

  • I expect that in episode 9 or 10, you'll have 60 minutes of a producer just pissing a firehose full of cash at the screen.
  • Joffery why are you such a sadistic cunt.
I question wether he is "sadistic" as such, I don't think he would ever decide to simply harm 2 girls because he enjoyed it. I think they barely register as human beings to him, but are merely objects that were given by Tyrion, and since he's pissed at Tyrion he'll piss all over the objects to show his disdain.
