  • I saw Sheik about a month ago at an independent wrestling show. He's not moving too well and requires a cane. It's sad to see.
YOU ARGH FAGGOT!! I FUCK YOUR ASS, MAKE YOU HUMBLE!
  • Everyone except Jack, anyway ^_~
    Too late! :D

Yeah, wrestling is insanely hard on the body, sadly... I hope the rest of him is in decent health, even if his joints and arguably mind are a bit off...

He's definitely an example of, as Zangief said in Wreck-It Ralph, "Just because you're a bad guy it doesn't mean you're a bad guy." He plays the part of the villain excellently and may be mentally off his rocker somewhat, but he's supposedly a really nice guy in person.
  • FYI, electronic voting machines do leave a paper trail. There is a paper ballot receipt printed after each vote and trivially made available for inspection for interested voters.

Depends on the machine. Not all of them do. The Diebold voting machines in particular were notorious for having no paper trail.

Most of them are. You have a few ego maniacs but by and large most wrestlers are guys who love wrestling and couldn't be happier that even a few people are happy to see them at a show.
  • Don't forget that different states have different laws.

Apparently in NY you can't even wear a button or shirt supporting a candidate because that is passive electioneering. If you go to a polling site they will ask you to remove it.
I'm wearing an "I BELIEVE IN MILES EDGEWORTH" shirt today. Is that electioneering?
  • Nader was on with the local NPR host last night and for the first ten minutes he sounded real good. Going on and on about the value of voting third party and picking the candidate that best matches your views. Then the host mentioned a state rep running for national office that Nader has previously had a very high opinion of. When asked about voting for him Nader became a true Democrat and said he would not vote for him because even though he was a moderate Republican he fealt that sending him to DC would instantly turn the guy into an extremist Republican .

At that point I lost all respect for Nader.
  • I have the option to go out to a bar and watch election results with some co workers or sip hot tea and not give a fuck at home...
  • Go to the bar. Elections are a spectator sport, you know.

Exactly, if your guy wins, celebrate with a drink; if not, drink more.
  • I went to a bar for a night of comedy and results watching... but it was packed! Totally rammed full. Nobody expected it to be sooooo busy. Juliane and I stayed for one drink, and to eat some pancakes, and then came back home again.
  • Hands wringing...too worried we may not have an Obama win...

Chill, only three states have been counted for sure.
  • When do we actually figure out who's the president?
  • Well, if Obama wins Florida it's basically over.
  • When do we actually figure out who's the president?
Probably around midnight, after all the polls are closed nationwide.

And it could take until Friday or Saturday if New Jersey ends up making the difference.

    Obama won New Jersey.

What do you guys think of Rocky Anderson? I'm watching the 3rd party debates right now, and he seems really good. Progressive, but smart. Unlike a lot of "far-left" candidates, he's not anti-science and he doesn't have the naive "let's protest everything" mentality that seems prevalent.

In other news, I wrote in my name for NY Assemblyman, since Vito Lopez (the Dem. incumbent) is a mysoginistic crook and the challenger is a nobody.

EDIT: Also, this is the first time I've actually seen Gary Johnson speak. While I think he would be really fun to hang out with, he doesn't seem presidential at all.

  • Yeah, I watched the four-way debate and Rocky Anderson seemed quite solid indeed.
  • Richard Mourdock and Todd Akin have both been defeated in their respective races.

    DEUS VULT!

EDIT: Since it was a legitimate election, the body politic shut them down.

  • Louise Slaughter has won NY 25!
Well, everything I care about is over.
  • It's done, he won Ohio.
