Polis is seriously the best. He just won his re-election to the House. I first heard about him during the whole SOPA thing, but I've been supporting him ever since.
I don't want to argue with you about politics generally just means "I'm uncomfortable having to justify my stances and fear being wrong about them."
Oh I know this. It went to personal chat after that. She really couldn't qualify a valid argument other than some anecdotal stuff about how she had to pay $7k in medical bills. I then replied that under AHA, that wouldn't happen.
She's a religious type, so I'm not going to go full FRC forum debate with her. She's an old friend that I grew up with. We don't really see each other anymore, just chat every now and then.
I will slowly but surely conversate with her and have discussions, ScoJo style.
Since this whole thing over now, let's laugh at these clowns. It also includes Dean Chambers from UnskewedPolls.com, the conservative answer to Nate Silver's fivethirtyeight.com. And by answer I mean "political ideologue who has no clue about statistics and makes up his own facts to fit his preferred narrative."
It's so close now, essentially 50/50, and it started with Bachman with a lead. Fingers crossed the tie breaks against her.
Seems she won by a ~1% margin.
Overall, it seems like the Democrats have made some decent gains in the Senate and House, though Boehner has already come out and said that the continuing GOP House majority means that there is "no mandate for raising tax rates".
God damn that was a long night. I went to bed at around 2AM. Glad for the outcome, glad to be able to take a break from arguing politics.
Of course, the first thing on my news feed was rehashed arguments about how people won't have to work anymore now that we elected a socialist president who will give you money for free.
I really wanted to tell those people to just quit their jobs, so they can see how great life is on food stamps... but I didn't. Because I'm tired of arguing.
Seriously? You'd be fucking insufferable if Romney had won. As it is, the response on my Facebook wall (and elsewhere, aside from some other forums I'm on) has been incredibly restrained. There was some celebration last night, but I'm not really rubbing it in anyone's faces.
No point, really.
I can't speak for many other people here. There's a lot of immature people around, considering a lot are in college or otherwise super young. Personally, I feel your pain. It's what I felt in 2004 when Bush won again. It really sucks to feel like you've struggled so hard and gained nothing.
I would hope you'd all be a little more gracious winners, but then again you were probably half thinking about rioting if Romney won.
Bullshit. You saw what the political climate was like both around here and in the world at large for the last few weeks and months. If you didn't see this coming, I'd be stunned.
Then again, it's a fucking election. Name me a single US election since the invention of the internet that didn't pass without a lot of gloating from the people supporting the winners, and bitterness from those who supported the losers.
Yeah, rioting, that's what we're all about around here; the FRC forums have a known track record for rioting.
As for being "gracious winners" - 1) This is basically normal behaviour for this forum. If you find it grating, I'm surprised you only decided to bring it up now. 2) If you don't make the most of winning, you're an idiot.

Also this. My god, though, the whining is unbearable. I'm assuming it's because I'm a lot closer to this election than previous ones though. I have friends who are actually talking to realtors about selling their property and moving because Obama won.
I can understand feeling ostracized and like the country is going in the shitter, but jesus. Republicans still control the House. Honestly, I think this is a good win for Republicans. It's going to cause a lot of internal soul-searching and I think the party will come out of it much stronger and focused in 2014/2016. Also, the fact that so many Tea Party candidates lost handily will hopefully marginalize that movement, so real substantive compromise can happen again.
No I would not have been ROE. I'd be happy yes, but I wouldn't have been posting pics telling Obama to fuck off.
No, you just would have been immeasurably smug and pretty much a dick to everyone who'd tried to engage you in any substantive way in the past 6 months. The fact you're being so butthurt now really shows a good amount about how you handle emotional issues.
Do you know what I've been doing this morning? I've been doubling down on my job, working hard to get some stuff ironed out for a release. Because that matters.
I've also been reading about some upcoming Planetside 2 changes, that have to do with my outfit, and peering back through some Kickstarter stuff I've been following. I also have been trying to figure out what I'm gonna be doing this weekend, since we're getting close to the weekend and I'd like to do something interesting.
I'm living my life exactly the same as I did before the primaries. Obama won last night, and I'm happy about that, but I'm not about to shove anyone's face in it. There is really no value in that, because I have zero desire to make what you're going through worse than it already is, and now is NOT the time to try to have any sort of productive discussion about anything.

EDIT: California was pretty bad, too. And I thought Minnesota was relatively progressive? Jeez.

The panda one made me laugh pretty hard.
