Yeah, I've learned Tekkit and buried the reactor and stuff as a result. I have some items still, but the only stuff I'm spawning/keeping is for public infrastructure.

To that end: if you build power teleport pipes, tune in on frequency 33 to accept free Buildcraft Energy courtesy of WUB Industries' Tesla Distribution Network. Free wireless power for everyone. You'll need to build you own engine generators to convert it to EU, though.

Does someone want to scout a place for a town? I'm thinking roads should be five blocks wide (so you can drive a car down them), and plots should be 10x10.

So, I think what we've agreed on is that nothing will be left over from the spawned items, except for one thing for each admin. WUB wants a wireless power network with a medium power output available for everyone, and muppet wants a chicken shack.

Other than that, we will stay on the same server and play from scratch, starting behind everyone else. We will forge a city, built from scratch, to accommodate the community. We should start some community projects.

  • The spawned stuff is precursor technology. Ancient wonderful devices.
  • Aww...The only thing I had made was a treehouse. Can I keep it?
  • I left my quarry and smelting operation mostly intact, but smashed it up, added cobwebs, and disconnected all the power sources and turned off switches. I smashed all the crates with tech in them but left the crates full of the bounty from the hill.

Let people scavenge, it'll be cool. :)
  • I might get in on this business, but I'm waiting until I at least finish preparing for PAX Dev and PAX Prime, and get one more PAX east 2012 video out. ;^)
  • Trying to make a natural hot springs with natural lava. Took two lava swims so far.
  • It says I need tubestuff now and I'm confused

Did you update? You shouldn't have. If you did, manually select build 3.1.1

  • Oh my bad I was choosing 3.1.2
  • I downloaded the 3.1.2 package, will take a look at it tomorrow. There's some new stuff like ccSensors that might make Omnu happy.

The anchor for my city is just about finished in terms of workshop space. There's an induction furnace, a singularity compressor, a charging bench, and a transmutation tablet. I feel like those resources are a good enough foothold for a city.

Note: There's probably some valuables in my chests; please don't loot my stuff. There's also likely a few remnants of my old inventory, which are advanced but mostly unusable. I don't have the stuff to build a reactor containment vessel, let alone the refined uranium to fuel a nuclear reactor.

  • Replaced all my copper cable with HV cable, found out the problem was not having a batbox near the panels, also found out HV cable loses more power than copper :-(

    Picks! Armor!
  • What is the best thing to do with diamond?
Transmute it into other things with a condenser.

What is the best thing to do with diamond?
Hold a large stock of them in your vaults while slowly releasing small bits of your larger stock to keep prices artificially inflated, while convincing everyone that mod-spawned diamonds are worthless for anything but being broken down for industrial purposes.

You forgot to force children to dig them up in the first place, at slave wages.

You mean slave children at no wages.

Clearly, but you have to report the former so you can seem to be aboveboard and get away with the latter.

  • I got more diamonds mining manually into a meadow than I did tearing down an entire hill with 5 automated quarries and a sorting apparatus...

To get to the layers where diamonds occur commonly, you have to dig a whole lot of stone out.

Best way to get diamond is to transmute stuff into a Nova Cataclysm and detonate it in the Nether. Make sure your inventory is empty, though.

  • Have to build a nova first...

    I dug to bedrock.

Could be you got unlucky with where you placed it. If you find the corners of a chunk and dig the whole thing out, you should get 8 diamonds, as one diamond vein generates per chunk. Though if it spawns on the edge of a chunk, it won't cross so you can get as low as one.

Actually, my turtle should be able to dig diamonds more efficiently than a quarry as it works well digging a large lateral area.

Edit: Stats on the diamond page says the average diamond content of a chunk is 3.097.

  • I managed to find a vein of 7 diamonds last night mining by hand. It's more than I've ever found any other time. I fell through into a natural vertical shaft with lots of exposed veins of every type of thing (exept Lapis, none of that yet).

I'm living in a little wooden shack by a bay, far(ish) from the new town but within walking distance. Gonna build a farm and pipe food to the town's market. :)
