Gomergate supporter turns out to be what we all guess one of then would be:
Basement dwelling little sociopath who trolled so hard and used so many sock-puppets that Milo Y. and Breitbart thought he was legit and used him as a source. He's a terrorist of the first degree and 20 years in FPMITA prison is too good for him.

  • Actually it looks like he was playing all sides, trolling everyone, at least according to articles linked in the comments there.

His actions of "trolling gone too far" are far more prominent on the Pro-GG/Anti-SJW side, viewing free speech over all else. But Milo Y. using him as a source to write hit pieces? That is incredibly damning evidence.

I wouldn't go that far. If you look at the Tanya Cohen stuff, it's more like someone trying to act like they believe stereotypical SJW positions, as seen by Gamergate. A large amount of progressives knew that Tanya Cohen wasn't a real person, but didn't know who or what it was attached to.

This is old (2012 or so) but it popped up in my twitter feed and thought it was awesome.
Scott Lynch, author of among other books "The Lies of Locke Lamora", responds to a male reader's complaint about the character Zamira Drakasha, a middle-aged pirate mother of two.

Oh fuck that was tasty. So good. I read it three times just to savor it.

  • I'm still somewhat astonished that there are still people rallying behind this bullshit.

Anyway, more people being pieces of shit.
  • And just because your day didn't have enough hilarious stupidity in it - Gators keep saying dumb shit about Anita Sarkeesian and Zoe Quinn's UN appearance.
  • The 'I see full blown revolution down the road' content is hilarious, because it would involve roughly a hundred pasty white guys and would be crushed in a nanosecond.

The delusions of persecution are positively crazy.
  • This made me do double takes. I fear going to that site, but I also feel it will only make me laugh even more.

The website is barely functional on mobile, and is greatly lacking in any real content beyond articles on how to justify being a "real man" by 1950's misogynistic standards.

    Saved you some time.

The graphic design of the site is slick on the desktop, but the forums are filled with the same tin-foil-hat conspiracy screed you'd expect to find anywhere that is a similar echo chamber.

  • Yeah I've even heard some people who routinely shit on feminists make fun of mgtow's for being crazy sexists.
  • MGTOW: Because sitting in yoru basement masturbating to hentai and calling all women whores is a "Political Statement".
  • That's only going to fan the dying flames anew, I'm so tired of this shit.

Don't even try to insinuate that this is her fault at all. That's some straight up victim blaming.

I don't think he's saying that; GGers are just going to look at this like a victory and say: "Yeah! We took down that evil jezebel! Our movement is still relevant!"

Sad, but unsurprising, article in the Washington Post Today:

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-intersect/wp/2016/02/17/in-the-battle-of-internet-mobs-vs-the-law-the-internet-mobs-have-won/

“It’s very clearly not a priority,” said Congresswoman Clark, who has become something of a crusader for victims of online harassment since Gamergate visited chaos on her district. “Their [law enforcement's] feeling is that it doesn’t cause bodily harm, but that misses the point. What’s so corrosive is that it has the effect of silencing people, of disrupting their personal and professional lives. We see more of a reaction if someone’s purse is stolen.”

The lawmakers and law enforcement agencies are behind current technology and the various legal issues surrounding same? Quelle surprise?! We can thank an out-of-touch, aging powers-that-be, a technology boom that outpaced them, and youth who do not engage in politics in any meaningful way (partially by the design of the aging powers-that-be).

I've sent this article on to a couple activist petition aggregator sites. Maybe we can get gaming groups, cons, and so on invlovled in writing to their representatives?
  • The whole Overwatch Butt Pose disaster. Just what...

I think Rami Ismail of Vlambeer has the best summation of the whole thing:
  • *Overwatch is removing all sexuality! Damn you skeleton warriors!*

Also entertaining - that tweet got the attention(and whining) of Mark Kern, the guy who was famously so shithouse at his job, that he almost sank a studio singlehandedly.

Guys, I don't know how to tell you this, but...there's porn. On the internet. You can look at it. Nobody will be angry with you if that's how you use your private time. You can beat off, and you don't even have to buy an expensive video game to do it, it's a win win.

Yep, that's the funny part - the complaints weren't even about keeping sexuality out of games, but that the animation(which was copied from Widowmaker, an archetypal femme fatale type character, right down to the neckline that plunges below the navel) didn't fit the character(Tracer) who in every other part of the game is portrayed as the quick, fun, bouncy, happy type of character. People felt the "ass to camera, suggestive glance over the shoulder" thing was off character.

The exact same animation is still on the Widowmaker character(Pictured above.)

  • That's what I don't get about a lot of this kinda thing (this, and the prevelance of fanservice anime). I'm fine with it, but you see people on /r/anime freaking out at like, three seconds of panties.
  • Shitfuck gamergaters harassed a woman who works at Nintendo.

To avoid dealing with this, Nintendo fired her.
  • Gross.

Also, I have a person who follows my tumblr and has been a fan of me since my modding days, whose blog is nothing but Gator bullshit. The fact he stills reblogs my stuff and follows my projects (often chiming into to try and tell me about how the SJWs are ruining everything.) makes me feel like I've gone very wrong somewhere.

I wasn't, I apologize if it came off that way. I just really hate the Gatorechobox, the way the entire movement operates is just a concentration of what I dislike most about the internet.
  • Harassed a woman, inventing fantastic imagined details - first about her role in supporting censorship, followed by a half-heartedly disingenuous attempt to paint her as supporting the same content being "censored" - as a justification. Has anything even changed in the past year?

  • August never ends.

Gamergate will claim this as a victory, and that Rapp was somehow dangerous and immoral and worth firing.

And the rest of the thinking, breathing world will know they are a sustained harassment campaign against women et. al.

And apparently not give a shit about stopping them.
