Has anyone actually said what her second job was? I don't care what it is, but I'm just saying someone had figured it out and "informed" Nintendo. I would be surprised if they kept it a secret and didn't make it as public as possible since that is like their M.O. But it seems weird that some GG article would be like HEY WE CONNECTED THE DOTS TO TRY AND JUSTIFY OUR SHITTY ACTIONS.
No, she has not talked about it, and the only people making claims about what it is have dug into her past and doxxed her and her family.
Basically, even though it is apparently acceptable within Nintendo corporate policy for her to moonlight, and she did so under a pseudoynm, because GGers were able to figure out what it was and tell Nintendo, they decided she was a liability since she could be connected to this "2nd job."
Personally I don't care what it is, whether or not it's legal, or how well she did keeping it unknown. It wasn't a problem until people looking for it specifically to ruin her life figured it out. Basically, whatever it was, it was not inherently the problem, GG was.
I guess the point I was trying to figure out was did GG people know why she was being fired, or did they just go along with it and then tried to figure it out/justify going along with it after she was fired. Because it sounds like the second one, which is telling.
She was fired after they dug up her info and told Nintendo about stuff.
Yeah, GG just used a college paper she wrote defending Japanese sexuality in their pop culture to basically destroy her. Keep in mind, this is a group that demands for free market without anything being censored...including the depiction of young girls in video games (See DoaX3 or the "Boob Slider" of Xenoblade Chronicles) So they used their own morals and stances to essentially paint one of their employees as filthy and celebrate their victory. High class hypocrisy.
It's worse that Nintendo knows the harassment and didn't do anything to stop it. There's no defending that form of corporate culture. It's the reason why judges will throw out evidence if the source or the person who found said evidence isn't the identified.
GG just isn't trying anymore trying to defend their alt-right or libertarian bent of freedom is the only thing that matters and keep companies safe from complainers. You see it in the way Milo and Cernovich directly support and credit Donald Trump's brilliance as a candidate and his alpha-male, anti-PC attitude. It's a gross, swirling cesspool that isn't worth identifying with or defending when you can't defend any of your leaders. They just want another Rush Limbaugh to feed them shit for the internet age instead of the radio.
She was fired after they dug up her info and told Nintendo about stuff.
I know, but it seems like only a small minority of them knew what that info was. That's why I was trying to see if it was mentioned anywhere. Admittedly I have done zero research because I just don't want to, but I feel like that shit makes the rounds on Twitter and the like immediately. All I remember was hearing that she was fired and then later Nintendo said she had a second job. And that "article" is just now saying WELL SHE MIGHT HAVE BEEN A PROSTITUTE. I'm just surprised I didn't hear that part first since there seemed to be no telling of any of this information. It just went from zero to "shes fired" (I also actually hadn't heard anything of her being harassed until she got fired as well).
I am hesitant to say that Nintendo is at fault. We do not know what her contract looked like, for all we know there may be a clause in there that explicitly states that moonlighting is fine as long as it is known to the company (Amazon has this exact policy). So the fact that she did it anonymously could be the reason. Or, as the official statement suggests, what she was doing is in direct conflict with their business. Since she hasn't said anything about what she was doing, how do we know? For all we know, it could have been legally suspect. Sure we don't care, but Nintendo sure as fuck does.
Yes, very likely that some GG assholes found out and brought it up to Nintendo, which caused things to spiral, but she may not be telling the whole story either. A little more transparency on either side would help resolve this, but I guarantee nothing more will come from the Nintendo side, so unfortunately the burden is on her to reveal more about what she was actually doing. And since she hasn't yet, it seems unlikely that she will.
It's actually been a long time coming. They've been harassing her about stuff she wrote since months before she was fired. Just no one talked about it because it was just GG being the usual shitheads, until she was fired.
None of those details matter. The doxxing hatemob is the actual problem, regardless of the other circumstances. They're actively doxxing and harassing.
Didn't anyone ever learn that two wrongs don't make a right? Even if she was a serial killer, it makes no difference. Harassing anyone is wrong. There's no reason you can give that makes it not wrong.
http://www.thejimquisition.com/nintendos-corporate-culture/ There's no reason to defend a company that decides to sack an employee in the midst of harassment for something they did years ago. It makes Nintendo look more faceless and cold and pathetic as they bowed to the wills of Internet shit-heels.
This is the sadness of video game culture when people are trouncing upon a PR Manager for her secondary career and opinions but praising a community manager who knowing scapegoated "feminist boogeyman" as the reason a bad softcore porn game to come to the United States. In what would be a disasterous PR move for any other company with values, these people are likely just raking in money to empower consumers that they are buying a video game as a "political statement." Fuck that noise.

Yes, you are right. But I'm just curious if Hitler had a reason to kill the Jews before doing so or if he just started doing it and figured out a reason afterwards.
It doesn't change that there was a terrible outcome.
Even if she moonlighted, even if the ludicrous claim that she was a prostitute was true, even if she was some bonkers anti-men lunatic, NONE of what shitlordgate has done or is patting itself on the back for is justified, moral, or legal.
Doxxing, harassing, and threatening her and her family anonymously because she has the audacity to have a vagina and work in the games industry is despicable and cowardly.
Went on the hunt and did some investigation - There's literally no source for the allegations of prostitution that isn't from a GG source, and no solid evidence, at least that couldn't be easily faked. Lots of red arrows and boxes, though.
Normally, I wouldn't care - but now, something magical is happening.
The Sad and/or Rabid puppies are once again trolling the Hugos. This time, they got a guy named Chuck Tingle nominated for his timeless classic Space Raptor Butt Invasion.
See, Chuck writes terrible/hilarious erotic sci-fi, generally involving gay butt stuff. The Puppies sought to make a mockery of the Hugos by nominating someone who writes schlock.
But, you see, Chuck is a troll of epic proportions. I mean, you can't write a book like Slammed in the Butt by My Hugo Award Nomination without knowing a thing or two about lulz.
And so he has responded to the Puppies essentially deriding his literary masterworks in the only way a god-like troll could:

Stalemate.

Just to continue the saga.
"Yes, but it's EXIF data!" some assholes might say, so in response, here's a picture of my dog sleeping in my lap, taken with Alison Rapp's camera, 40,000 meters deep in the Mariana trench on April 26, 2017. Incontrovertible evidence, it's the same lens serial. Which took me about five minutes, using the first free website I found. (Or you could just, y'know, do the old inspect element trick on Jeffery's Exif viewer, that works too.)
Linking positively to gomergate sources defaming someone is something I will ban for if I see it again.

Delicious.
