  • Some do that for cloning purposes.

    Care to elaborate?
  • There is a certain method where you deposit a Pokemon into the GTS and make sure it can not be traded (ask for a level 9 or under Gengar). While the game is saving (circle thing spinning) you turn it off after a certain number of revolutions. When you turn the game back on it defaults to the previous save game.

When you then go to the GTS your Pokemon is also on the GTS server. Download the Pokemon and you just created a clone.

Beware, hackers can create a level 5 Gengar. when picking the Pokemon to trade for be selective.
  • Wait, so does it clone your deposited pokemon or the requested one?
  • Right now, I'm offering up a lvl 10 Magicarp for any other magicarp.  I'm hoping to get an international entry for it.
  • It clones the one you deposit.
  • Cloning like that can really mess up your game. I do not recommend doing it at all.
  • I agree. I already experienced the "we can't find your save game" error on my Leaf Green after doing a Pal Park migration. Luckily I was able to restore from the backup on the cartridge but that only worked because I still own a GBA.

Yeah, it sounds like the surfing glitch from Red/Blue.
  • There was a surfing glitch in the Japanese release of D/P where you could walk across the water and find the other legendary Pokemon islands.
  • My pogeyman team is ready to battle!
  • Perhaps tomorrow. I'm fixing to watch Idiocracy right now.
  • I'm still tampering with my wireless system... I'll figure it out eventually... T.T
  • I just beat it. Fucking finally, got-damn.

    Congrats! ^.^

Is it just me, or does it seem easier to level pokemon in this game?
  • It must be you!
  • It is definitely harder to level Pokemon in Diamond/Pearl. Once Pokemon get to level 40 it takes ludicrously long amounts of time to level them. I'm glad that levels don't matter and that all meaningful multiplayer just makes everyone have the same level. Now I just have to train Pokemon to the point where they learn the moves I want, and that's the end of it.
Is there maybe a place with higher level wild Pokemon than Victory Road?

Yes, Take the boat from the Snowy town.

I found that I can easily level my pokemon by beating just 3 of the same level. It could be because they're only level 22, but when you compare it to the original games, it takes a lot less time for me.

It gets a lot harder once you hit level 40 or so. Most of the wild Pokemon in Sinnoh are level 20-something. Victory road has level 40-something Pokemon.

I used the Secret Base system of R/S/E to great effect in leveling up Pokemon. You can try the Elite Four Repeat method but those guys are fairly tough and you can't just keep re-fighting them until you get your Pokemon to level 60+.

Another option is to keep using the VS. Seeker.

I spend more time farming berries than anything else right now. I'll be re-using some of my Emerald teams for now and then I'll build a new team for the wi-fi zone.

I did, but in the battle place you don't get XP! Are you saying I should just use the BP to buy Rare Candies?

Walk around the entire island Scott.

Also, keep a GBA game in your GBA slot on the DS while you are inside the Mountain. Leaf Green will get you a Magby and Fire Red will get you an Elekid. Each of them may be holding a special evolutionary item.

So the Battle Tower really has no point?
  • The point of the battle tower is to earn battle points, which you can then use to buy things that you can buy no where else. It is also a great testing ground for your battle team.

At what rate can you earn the battle points? Can I earn them quickly enough to get rare candies faster than I could level Pokemon?
  • Rare Candies cost 48BP to buy. You can earn 3-4BP per 7 battle series. Do the math!

Also, Rare Candies are bad for your Pokemon until they break the level 75 barrier. They are bad because when you battle you earn EV points. Earn enough EV points and your stats earn bonus points when you level up. Rare Candies ignore EV's when leveling up. Thus you do not get the full benefit of leveling up by using them.

Due to the way online battling works you can probably finish training most Pokemon by level 50. You need only go higher if they have a higher evolutionary form that comes later (Dragonite/Salamence) or a special move that comes later.

I'm pretty sure this is not in the instruction book. I also don't see any mention of EVs in the Pokemon summary. Arbitrary secret rules are bad!

Well, the whole EV system wasn't supposed to be taken advantage of so thoroughly.

Considering the mass appeal of online play I expect the EV/IV stuff to take center stage from here on out.

Only mad pokenerds like Railith and Steve know about EVs. I've been playing Pokemon for forever and I just ignore the whole EV system. You can do just fine without that level of micromanagement. Anyway, you shouldn't be able to get enough Rare Candies in the games to royally fuck up your pokemon. You'd pretty much have to be cheating, and then you deserve it. :|

I totally want Nintendo to come along and actually take up people on all those trades that are clearly cloners. The Pokemon they trade over could be nicknamed "PWND". It'd be glorious.

Does anyone understand the games in the Veilstone City Casino? Seriously, I just hit the buttons when it tells me to and win arseloads of money. Went from 70 coins to over 1800 coins in 21 minutes (according to one of those TV reports, haha) but I still have no idea what I was apparently doing.
