GeekChat

edited April 2007 in GeekNights
I was playing with Skype, and a voice chat has been mentioned several times but never performed. Come on in, the water's fine. Starting at 8:15 p.m. and going for maybe an hour or so. Perhaps we'll even get a multiplayer game of some sort going.

Would that be 8:15pm EST or PST?

[Edit] Ah, it says "started 29 minutes ago". That answers my question.

    Yeah it up right now.
  • It would be easy to turn such a thing into a podcast.

XD Maybe we should make a rival podcast >=)
  • No particular topic for the chat?
  • Or just a "fancast" of sorts.

    Just awesomeness
  • Skypecast links don't work in Linux. Fuckit.

    I figured it out.
  • I'd join you guys, but I'm doing preproduction for the show.

Someday, we'll do a live show with Skype, and you've given me a crazy idea to have a Skype livecast every night for those of you who just can't wait. ^_~
  • We just talked about doing it on a regular basis. It's not a bad idea.
  • A very successful Geek Cast indeed.
  • Maybe had I advertised it early in the day we would have gotten some more people. There were a total of five there anyway. And we pretty much kept the conversation rolling, even when Scott became combative ^_~
  • We could do something on fridays. Talk about forum goings on or the shows, or we could post a topic that morning and talk about it that night.

I would never be able to be on Fridays, between work and fun weekend stuff. Friday nights are sacred. Wednesday works best, for me at least.

  • Yeah, Wednesday is a good day for me too. It was fun, we totally need to do it again.

Scott, this came up in conversation, how do you pronounce "Apreche"?

    Ahh-pree-sh. Or Ahh-preh-sh. Or even Ahh-preh-shee.

    Goddamn you, Scott.

  • Thursday would be the only day I can do.

    Damned nonstandard work hours.
  • I have heard Scott pronounce it as "Apresh." Which is "Ahh-preh-sh" as you put it, so you win, Sail.

In my head it has always sounded like "A-pre-shay".
  • Whatever happened to this skypechat thing? This predates my listening to Geeknights, let alone joining the forums but it's something I would do. It's something I used to do with a bunch of friends in a Ventrilo server we had running. We would talk randomly about random things and then challenge each other to no-scope bouts with the scout in CS 1.6. God, I miss those days . . .
  • I wouldn't mind getting into this action as well. Sounds fun.

    Ditto!!
  • Structured? Or would it just turn into an extra-long session of "How you doin?"

  • I'd be in for chatting sometime.
  • Maybe this could be timed when we organize the continuation of our Civ IV game.

That would definitely be a good way to start it.
  • Can somebody set this up?
