Why does Netflix have GitS under completely different names for each season/movie? Also their little blurbs for each movie/show suck, especially in the anime.
It's funny Dazzle because I would consider a 8/10 to be awesome, I think there might be one or two anime that actually hit a 9 or 10 in terms of quality. So I would consider an 8 to be pretty great. So that's probably why saying "not that great" 8/10 is strange.
Fair point. The way I scale ratings, is to include indifference. Which 'pushes' awesome to the much higher values.
The rating scale needs to include positive, negatives and neutral/ indifference in the middle.
To rate something as 5/10 can be far worst than getting a 2/10, as to be something really unnoteworthy.
Where as stating something 2/10 and 4/10, 7/10 and 9/10 you can make points to compare and contrast.
Better in what respects? IMO Attack on Titan delivers a more entertaining show.
Cowboy Bebop has more dialogue than I care for. The build up to the action scenes weren't satisfying.
The Mona Lisa isn't very exciting to look at. It's rather boring if you ask me. I haven't read a Spider-Man comic in years, but I'm willing to bet the newest issue has much more enjoyable art than DaVinci. Despite this, I would never dare say that Spider-Man is better than the Mona Lisa, which is a masterpiece of all time greatness.
If you don't understand why this is so, you have yet to learn even the most basic aspect of critiquing, understanding, or appreciating art. You do not even understand the most basic concepts of what the difference between taste and quality. Please do the world a favor by not talking about things you don't know about.
Attack on Titan is fun to watch, but it's not even worthy of being an ant crushed under the shoe of the revolutionary Cowboy Bebop.
You are spending so much time and effort in explaining your shitty numbering system when you could just not use it and express yourself in a clear manner from the get go.
I didn't think it needed explaining, till I was misunderstood. To the point of being clear, I thought I was clear. That I was bored watching Cowboy Bebop. To elaborate on that is to spend time talking about Cowboy Bebop. Which could be done in more detail it's own thread that could be linked to, as not to be lost in a sea of pages.
Likewise with rating systems, however since this is a thread on "what you're currently watching", seems relevant to mention it.

Someone could find Mona Lisa quite exciting to look at.
Frankly, I'm more amazed that you found Attack on Titan entertaining. I've found it to be incredibly slow, with an enormous amount of time wasted on useless dialogue and reaction shots, while the plot barely goes anywhere. On top of that, the plot's played-out and generic, and the characters aren't credible or engaging.
So I just finished "Welcome to the NHK" this week and I am considering what I am going for next, primarily stuff on Netflix so me and my friends in other states can watch it together. I am leaning toward Gurren Lagann, but I heard it get crazy. My friend wants to do "Deadman Wonderland" but I saw like 3 episodes of it on the Funimation network and had a hard time getting into it. Any advice?
If you want numbers, then there are maybe 5-6 anime ever that are a nine or ten.
I also do take issue with your "9" for Attack on Titan. The show has profoundly erratic pacing and a widely meandering plot that hitherto hasn't presented any real character development opportunities. The characters are relatively shallow, and much of their dialogue is interchangeable.
Good for you, you missed the production delays in an anime about production delays.
Double Meta, I am not even mad.
Also, super-quick review of "Your Lie in April" Unless you are one of the manliest beings on this planet you will not withstand the amount of feels that this anime will break. Really, if you don't like to cry and feel alive, stay away (I will be sorry for you, but stay away). The animation is superb. The pacing is great, there are no episodes that were filler for the sake of extending the plot ( A,K.A. "beach episode"). When it funny is it reaches "Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun" levels of deadpan humor. The music is amazing and listening to it makes you want to learn more about the history of all the pieces portrayed on the show. If you have 2 hours to spare every weekend for the next 3 weeks, this is the show to watch.
Also, I finally understand the title of the show at the very last episode.
Finished Jojo's Battle Tendency arc yesterday. Loved it. Joseph may be one of my favorite new anime characters. (And yes, I'm liking him in Stardust Crusaders too) I wished there was more Lisa Lisa and Zepelli as advertised, but there was still a lot to enjoy.
I like how each descendant from the Joestar is its own person and has its own characters: Jonathan Joestar strive to be gentelman not a hero. Joseph Joestar was a brass strategist kid, with balls of steel. Jotaro Kujo is basically the Japanese version Batman. Love the show, specially the ending songs. Thanks to this show I discovered the epic "Last Train Home"

0 or 1 and 10 being theoreticals.

I would seek the Mona Lisa out for it's historical and DaVinci's artistic merits, in which I would ponder, appreciate and scrutinise.
A highly polished turd is no greater than a diamond the rough. Unless you're comparing how polished something is.
You've understood my point. The Mona Lisa (Bebop) is not exciting, "Attack on Titan is fun to watch".

Attack on Titan is a thoroughly mediocre show.

There's a manga I can read that keeps going, right?
