If I'm in the lab(or whatever ends up standing in for it, or for field tests like my upcoming trip to the range), I always start off with a giant pot of dark, sweet coffee, and this. And often just keep playing it.
I finished watching The Big O today. I enjoyed the show up until the end. I have no idea what the final episode was about and was really disappointed that they didn't seem to answer any of the questions that the show had been asking since pretty much the first episode.
Because the 3rd season they expected never happened.
THERE'S A THIRD SEASON?!
There was meant to be, to tie up all the dangly plot threads from the end of the second. Never came to fruition though.
If I recall correctly Rym, I could have sworn that you said something along the lines of "The Bio O season 2 is Evangelion done correctly" or something to that effect. Can you either confirm or deny that? If it is true, I am curious to see an elaboration along those lines.
I've decided to do another panel in addition to my Great Anime Directors panel; one that is much more specific and focused than the latter. It's called "The Sanrio You Never Knew".
Finally jumped on Mawaru Penguindrum, because I've been waiting to see a new directed series from Ikuhara for a while. Seen only 4 episodes. I have been a perplexed viewer since episode 1, but since I fully expected that I am not disappointed.
I do kind of hope that it picks up soon, though. The pacing has been bizarre and perhaps a bit too slow.
Also, while I've loved this director's work in the past (yes, even the projects he directed alone), this one just kind of reeks of something I can't really describe better than "new anime". I don't really know what it is. I am stuck in the 90's and my nostalgia goggles are hammered on hard, I'll admit, but I have far less tolerance for the character archetypes I'm seeing, the blatant, blatant innuendo/service, and close-ups like this:
. Much as I love the female body, these crotch-shots are just not hot like you think they're hot, guys.
I know older anime were not free from the things I'm complaining about, but something about the way they're presented in newer shows like this just... bothers me. It's like being a kid going to Chuck E Cheese's, havin' fun playing games, but knowing it's going to be an awkward time staring at that weird pizza and those disturbing singing robots. And their close-up crotch-shots.
Probably all old news I'm yammering on about, but yammer on I do.
I saw Jungle Emperor Leo when I was roughly six. Shortly after watching it, Fathom or someone took the movie on tour. That scarred me more than the Lion King scarred anyone.

Tezuka NEVER pulls any punches!
Also, Fist of The North Star vol.3 and Space Adventure Cobra Movie bought!
Just finished Natsuyuki Rendezvous and that was an interesting show. I'm going allowing my thoughts to settle before I write my review, but it certainly is an interesting exploration of grief and moving on after losing a loved one. How someone can still love a person and yet move on to a new lover. But it was padded, and at times was reveling in its own themes and ideas.
I'd recommend it to people looking for a more adult romance story in anime. But it could have been eight episodes instead of twelve.
Natsuyuki Rendezvous made my heart hurt in a good way. I do not think it was padded, each of its eleven episodes was necessary.
Really? Those dream sequences, while beautiful, did slow the show down a whole lot.
Are you talking about the ones when Hazuki is on inside the story book? I think they were of great importance in order to understand the feelings of Shimao, and the way he feels about Rokka. I think if they were taken away the audience would have forgoten about Hazuki, and then the climax would have not being as powerful as it is. But, that is just me.
I was about a decade late to Trigun. Most of my friends still haven't watched either. For some shows, it doesn't matter when you watch them as long as you watch them.
Finally saw Madoka Magica Soooo Good. But I'm a few years late to that show.
A few is more than two, so no, you weren't that late. Don't beat yourself up!
Humanity Has Declined ended, and I really enjoyed that ride. From what I hear, there's barely anything else to take from the source material, so it's one and done.
So actually what they showed us in the anime is all there is? Ahh... so sad. I was hoping they may do a second season or something. I am interested in getting to know more the mysteries of this world... and also, to see more fairies in action, heh.
Watched the first episode of Shin Sekai Yori. I don't think this will be spoiling anything because the scene happens in the very start of the episode. The series starts off showing various kids in a major city Tokyo I would presume. And they are going on some kind of murder spree using their psychic powers. After that the show jumps to the same kids in a psychic school. That town they live in has this religious cult feel about it. So far I'm interested in watching more.

There is source material that has not been animated. Just not enough to fill a cours.

Are you blind? "1000 years later" is kinda long for them to still be kids, don't ya think?
Anyone else see K? If you haven't, I think it's fair to say a) It's probably the prettiest anime this season and b) it's trying hard to be everything to everyone, harder than any anime this season.
I will have to re-watch again I could have sworn the kids are the same exact kids. I just took a leap in logic that time travel must be involved
They don't even look alike. For one, the first scene has 3 boys, and the group of kids you're talking about consists of 3 girls and 2 boys. Do you do multiple things when watching anime? If so that might be why you say what you way.
Yes I sometimes do other things while watching anime. I don't remember if I was doing something else at the time. So I will have to write this up as a total brain fart on this one.

I can't name too many shows that are "better" than Madoka.
