So, any good thing worth watching on Crunchyroll for this season? I just watched Heroman, it had more ups than downs and it was made by studio Bones so I was pretty pleased at the end. Too much of what many would consider Deux Ex Machina though. Also, I am glad Space Brothers is not over yet.
Any of the good shit that happens to get streamed on Crunchyroll you should check out, whatever that is currently. Then go watch the good shit that's not on Crunchyroll.
Those animes are just coming out this month. I think that qualifies them as upcoming. And the blog posts are more a quick summary with a little bit of first impression thrown in. Can't really do a review if most of the shows haven't come out yet or the series just barely released an episode.
Caught the first episode of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. It's a show. I'm not sure what to make of it. It's like a throwback to some cheesy 80's Saturday morning cartoon. I hope the next one goes straight to the superpower fights. The origin relationship between JoJo and Dio is hilariously terrible.
Watched 9 out of 11 episodes of Eden of the East for some reason with a friend today. What even is that show. It's like a roller coaster of boring -> getting interesting -> WHAT THE FUCK -> getting interesting again -> WHAT THE FUCK!??!
I'm familiar with the video game. I've never watched the old OVA. I was expecting something a lot different on the origins of Jojo and Dio rivalry that's all.
Episode 2 of Jojo's was much better. I feel like the series could have just began at episode 2 with a few flashbacks to the first episode. It's still very cheesy but I'm looking forward to the fights now.
In an attempt to see if I could do a Yoji Enokido panel next con season, I tried to begin the epic trek that would be Sailor Moon only to find that the torrent I'd downloaded was %100 unwatchable files that skipped randomly through episodes, out right excluding some completely. Oh well, back to Harlock.
So I watched the first episode of Btooom. People kidnapped and forced on a tropical island that have to survive by lobbing bombs at each other. It's alright the main dude is a NEET who is has a dick to his mom and his online friends. Does not make care if he survives the island or not. Next episode seems like the series is going to introduce the obligatory high school jailbait girlfriend.
Also I've avoided spoilers for this, but it seems blatantly obvious the new girl is a time traveler. I hope that's not the twist because it is super telegraphed 15 minutes into the episode.
Finally got around to Madoka Magica. WTF is up with the glass classroom cubicles?
"Look at us, we're futuristic!"
I don't think the point of Madoka is to look for a twist. Since you've avoided spoilers thusfar, I wont tell you whether your suspicions are right or not.
I still do not know how anyone in any fiction with wishing in it does not immediately wish for omnipotence though. Seriously, all the problems these characters have could be solved if any of them bothered to wish for UNLIMITED POWER and then restructured the universe to prevent all the bad things that come with that power.
I forgive Madoka for that flaw, because its consistent with the characters. Madoka herself is intimidated at the prospect of having anything she wants, which is why she waits as long as she does. Kyubey made Mamis wish for her, due to the circumstances of when he found her, and I don't think Sayaka or Kyouko are supposed to be sane or rational. As for Homura, well, you'll see.
Just started episode 7. I'm really digging the idea of the little cat-thing as an inhuman intelligence who really doesn't understand humans and whose morality is so far removed from the people it deals with. Really reminds me of the whole Friendly AI dilemma, and it's a very different kind of deconstruction from Sailor Nothing's abusive boyfriend take on it.
If it sounds like I'm bitching, I'm really not. I super love this series for serious, it's awesome. I just overthink everything all the time.
I kind of want to write a fanfic where a girl with a more transhumanist viewpoint gets offered this. Somebody who wouldn't be thrown by the soul separation thing and who would try to game the system.

This blog has a pretty good write up of the anime coming out this fall.

So many memories

I guess that's what you expect from a show that has suffered from so many explosion-induced concussions.
