All of our artists are excited to join you onboard all four days of the event! There may be some cases where an artist must join us during the trip or depart early due to schedule or family commitments.
What sort of activities will be planned on the ship besides live shows?
We are working with the artists to have them each be a part of something special on board. Since this is one of the most intimate Heavy Metal festival to ever take place, we feel it's important for those taking part to experience things they wouldn't otherwise be a part of. Music workshops, autograph signing sessions, fan friendly events and other forms of non-music entertainment are being planned as we type this.
EDIT: The absolute cheapest cabins left are $866 per person, plus another $249 in miscellaneous fees. They also open a drink card, as booze and the like are not included in the price.
It seems expensive, but it also seems totally fucking awesome.
My coworker showed me this. I have yet to listen to it, but I think I found a metal band targeted directly at me. Fall of Efrafa - Watership Down Metal! Unfortunately, their site is down for some reason. I link to a blog.
So Dark Fortress released a new album earlier in the year. It's called Ylem, and this song is pretty fucking awesome. The entire album is stellar.
I've also been listening to Lightning Swords of Death's latest album The Extradimensional Wound, thanks to Cielmort. You should listen to this song; it's pretty awesome.
I've caught up with this thread after a while again and watched the two evolution videos that were here, e.g. Metal 1970-2010 and 10 genres of metal in 3 minutes. I kinda got the general vibe of it, but I still have absolutely no clue how to make the finer distinctions between these subgenres. I usually kept metal apart by lyrical themes rather than guitar sound. This is actually in contrast to my favorite genre of rock music, punk, where I can and do make distinction based on instrument-usage, e.g. mandolin and bagpipes: celtic punk, horns and/or a two-tone beat on the guitar: ska punk, hard guitar riffs and oi calls: oi or hardcore, "surf guitar" = surf punk, etc.
So there's this band called Triptykon. Some of you might like them. They're a new project from Tom Gabriel Fischer - the guy who founded Celtic Frost, Apollyon Sun, and Hellhammer.
Fuck tungsten. Iridium is a metal that likely came to earth in meteor impacts that caused mass extinctions(early, pre-extinction crust has low percentages of them) and is thus INFINITELY more brutal.

EDIT: And the cruise does sound pretty awesome. Little pricey for now though.
Also, Swashbuckle is highly appropriate for this event, glad to see them there.

The new Blind Guardian is of course amazing.
I was thinking, some genres of music are named after a physical material, like rock and metal. Other genres are not, like punk and jazz.
What would musical genres named after other physical materials sound like?
wood music
paper music
heavy plastic!
death cloth
symphonic inert gas
EDIT: Actually, these guys are probably closer to being symphonic. I think Sunn O))) has this covered.
Hmm, I don't know what to think about it, I really like the chorus though.
