They're actually a relatively old band. They've been on my radar for a while, but I've just recently actually sat down to listen to them.
This is a radio edit of this song. The actual song is twice as long and builds quite a bit more. Some of their stuff is impossibly brutal, moreso than Nile at times.
EDIT: So last night, I was hanging out with my friend Mike, who plays guitar in a local metal band called A Skin for Dancing In. They used to be Son of Mourning, but they changed their sound and came up with a new name. The drummer, also named Mike, came over later with the master for their forthcoming EP.
That was a pretty fucking metal moment for me: sitting in a friend's house, listening to the master of their EP for the very first time.
EDIT THE SECOND: Mike the drummer also possesses an encyclopedic knowledge of metal that surpasses that of any otherwise sane or rational person. So, I came away with a bunch of awesome band suggestions. I'm currently in the process of checking them out.
He was tweeting about how he couldn't decide if he should go with a new cover design, or use a girl's face yet again. I guess we know the answer now. I've marked my calendar.
The mighty GeekNights Forum army is gaining fame!(?)
No. I'm just saying that the people in the Machinae Supremacy are extremely culturally similar to the people here and to the attendees of PAX. Those are our people.

Ahhh, I see. And I really like them now after looking them up on youtube.... Good to know that our people are achieving great things.
So I've been listening to After the Burial and I'm really digging it, along with All Shall Perish.
My friend tried to get me into Horse the Band, after he admitted that he wasn't into metal (which came after I mentioned I really like Bathory). Not sure if want.

PA should try to get them to play at PAX one year.

I do not like them very much.
Also, I thought Overworld was a lot better than their second album. But I think we can at least all agree that their first one owns all.

I need something with the absurd technicality and melodic prowess of Nile, but with more hatred. I need excellent metal that is nigh-unlistenably evil. I need something heart-blackening.

Maybe it's just me but isn't Nile already pretty fucking angry? Granted it's a little more tung in cheek due to the subject material that they work with, but they are pretty much the most brutal band I listen to.
Since this seems like the place to ask, I'm looking for some more prog metal, in the same vein as Dream Theater. Any suggestions would be helpful as I'm somewhat new to this genera

Voivod or Strapping Young Lad are as good a place as any to start.

You should check out A Skin for Dancing In. Very technical and aggressive blackened death metal.

If you're interested in something to bring you up, it's damn near impossible to be sad when listening to Korpiklaani.

I like this.
Where has this band been all my life?
I found it mildly amusing, but it wasn't my thing. Despite the fact that it's really really stupid. :P It reminded me vaguely of Green Jelly, actually, in terms of stage antics.
