  • I think "emphat" is science fiction. From Dune? Something like that.
  • I think the sciency girl and I have some real chemistry. Had a great weekend even though we had to cancel our planned hike due to rain.

What does it mean? Is it synonymous with empath, or is there a subtke difference?

  • This is getting good. Crazy ex just sent me an invoice for "services rendered" and a bill of $5,000!!!! Wow, just wow...

Hahahaha. You should scan it and post it.

    What services did she provide?

  • Housework, driving, some home construction/remodel.

Hahaha. She must think you are really stupid.

This reminds me of the time my ex-bf called me at work saying that because I broke up with him, he told his friends and they are mad at me. They were so mad that they were going to come to my work to "take care of me".

For one second I was scared, but when you push someone into a corner they have nothing to do buy fight back. I replied, "So you're telling me that you and your friends are going to come onto DoD property and physically hurt me? Please by all means. I'll have the VA police here to take of you and you're telling me this while I'm on a government land line? Please."

    He hung up.

  • This is a hilarious reddit post in the making. Perhaps in /r/wtf or /r/justiceporn?

I was thinking of sending her a bill in return for accommodations to the tune of $50 a night.

I found this but it is for CA. Probably still relevant.

  • You should tell her you'll take it out of the back rent you're going to charge her.
  • I got asked to the prom. Not going, because it's the same weekend as Anime Boston, but still. Feels weird man.
  • If I remember I will bring the invoice to Anime Boston.

ASK OUT WHEN YOU GET BACK, FOOL!
  • For reals though... try not to poke the crazy too much. It seldom ends well.

Pfft, he lays down some emphatic phat beats, thus he is The Emphat. :P

Also, in a move surprising no one: girlfriend get! Sat down and talked about things, and decided to see where things go form there.

I know that I should do this, but not how. What is asked when one is "asked out." I understand how to for special occasions like dances and shit, but for everyday shit I'm just like "wut."

"Oh, I'll be out of town during prom, but let me take you out to dinner when I get back"

That or, you know, fuck animes and go on a date. I'd say your priorities are messed up if you go to AB.

  • Well, he's probably committed to giving panels/has already paid for badge.
  • People come to AB that I don't get to see very often -- like, two or three times a year. Missing them to go to some dance attended by something like two interesting people drowned in westie girls awkwardly smiling and southie kids getting wasted would be an awful mistake.
  • May obvious solutions include invite girl to convention, or take the four hours out of your convention to go.

Prom happens one time. Your monkey brain will be upset with you in the future if you don't attend. Sexy pillows, badly dyed hair, and people aged 12-16 are as obnoxious to me as the people you've described. Plus, conventions are longer than proms, yeah? Give me a breakdown, dude.

    Details.

    Nah.

Go to Anime Boston. Have fun. Ignore the haters. Go on a date with prom girl after.

I am no hater- and it is totally possible that you won't regret it at all. You know you, I guess. I know me. Do what's fun, but also understand this girl might be upset with you.

  • I'd rather spend money at an anime convention than a prom. Plus they have better costumes. Also, who I have more fond memories of my escapades at convention than a high school dance.

I'm with you theoretically, but I had an awesome experience at my first Anime Expo where I ended up kissing 11 girls. Then there was the time I was propositioned at PAX...
Still, Greg, Andrew's line over there is a pretty good thing to say.

Two times. This is junior prom. If it was senior prom, then I would have been thinking about this months ago. Besides, I'm not going for the punk kids 12-16 dyed hair hug pillow crowd, I'm going for the people who I already know, but don't get to see very often (ie forumites, friends from previous cons, Family that Geeks fans, etc).
  • It's no wonder that most of you are single and this thread exists.
  • Proms are universally dumb. I went to them, but would have skipped out in a second had there been something more interesting to do.

Just ditch prom (or make an appearance as they say) and have a night on the town. Or you can go to the ten most awesome Gundams ever panel.
