Would anybody be interested in a PAX East after-party/dinner party Sunday evening after the convention? I am considering one for Anime Boston, but I can always throw two! My apartment's in Harvard Square, about a 15-minute bus/train ride from the Hynes, down Mass. Ave.
I knew I wouldn't regret staying 26th-29th. (Well, okay, that's a lie; it's mostly that I didn't really have a choice)
drinking
Totally up for that!
The United States is retarded. Legal drinking age 21, what the fuck? It's 18 everywhere reasonable. I'm 20
Haven't you taken at least two vacations in the last six months? :P
One of those involved 17 hours of driving, part of which was through DC. That's hardly a vacation. :P
I TOLD you to go around. I told you! But no, you decided the GPS lady was smarter than me. You just HAD to find out if her directions would be better than mine. See what happens when you don't listen to Nuri!
I was thinking about applying to be an enforcer, but then I read the application and went, "Huh. Nothing, nothing, nothing..." Filling out the application would have made me feel like an outsider who doesn't belong at the con, so I decided not to do it. Denial is the best way! I am a geek! Really, I am!
Ro, you and me, knitting appointment. Do you have needles? I have extra "teaching needles" for when I teach someone, so you can have those if you want. We should set up some time at some point after you figure out your schedule.
Anyone else who wants to join in is welcome to...if they let me know ahead of time, I can even bring stuff for them.

I'm kinda half this. I game some, but probably not as much as the average attendee. I'm going more because a lot of people I know are going and I told it will be a fun time.

You realize by volunteering you will not be a outsider because you have a job to do and in doing so you'll meet people so when your not working you won't be an outsider at that point.
You realize that I don't feel like an outsider right now, so there is no point in doing something that will make me feel that way just so I can not feel that way.

I still need to read those links you provided in the knitting/needlework forum. I will more than likely be purchasing my own needles and other supplies. I look forward to my lessons, Sensei. _(._.)_

Yeah...
Thought I must say, the enforcer irc channel had a SOTUS drinking game tonight, and I am a lightweight. Or rather, it doesn't take much to get me buzzed, but then I never over-drink. Yay self control!
Note the lack of slurred speech or spelling errors in my previous paragraph.

I believe the classic line is, "I'm old enough to die for my country, but not old enough to decide to drink alcohol responsibly?"
The legal age of majority for pretty much everything, including military service, is 18. But not drinking alcohol or being exposed to sexually "deviant" material (in many states). It's pretty stupid.

I find most people under 25 aren't responsible period.
Yeah, but if they aren't mature enough to drink, then they aren't mature enough to have other responsibilities as well (like deciding who to vote for, being able to go serve in the military, or signing contracts without parental consent). The only somewhat legitimate reason I have seen for the high drinking age was a study that showed that people that start drinking at a younger age in the U.S. are more likely to be alcoholics and/or have other health issues. This begs the question of how effective the illegality of youthful drinking actually is at preventing younger people from drinking.

Yes, your point? :P
My point is that it should be made even/consistent. Either raise the age or majority or lower the drinking age. Also, the fact that financial aid won't consider a person to be financially independent from their parents until they are 24 unless they are married, serve in the military, or have a horrible family life just needs to end. If parents are no longer claiming their children as dependents, then the child should be considered financially independent.
Haha geez, I'm almost 19, I'm not even close to the youngest on this forum anymore. Get Loganator or Axel in here.
I'm pretty sure Loganator is younger than me, and I thought that Apsup was too. There's someone here who's like, 16 or something. Made me feel old, and lame because their voice was several pitches lower than mine.

God, I feel so young, now. SAIL?! Where ARE you?!
