  • Youtube banned the James Randi educational foundation because they got complaints from Oprah, because the JREF complained that she was pushing the "Randi" healing.
  • April Fools Day. I hate it. Hate. Hate it.
  • It's just another day. I didn't even really look at the Internet, so there wasn't anything to disappoint me, really.
  • April Fools Day. I hate it. Hate. Hate it.
Agreed. Supposedly, Conficker hasn't been doing much.
  • Time Warner Cable is dumb
My Mom lives near Rochester and has Time Warner. She is a bit confused about what this new fee structure will mean for her. How can she calculate what she actully uses?
  • This isn't necessarily a Fail for myself, but I would say a Fail for my coworkers. We have a community breakroom with 3 microwaves. One of them most used microwaves has been quite dirty for a while. I took the initiative to clean it. It took me about 15 minutes to clean it out. There was burnt cheese on the glass tray that I had to microwave water on it for 2 minutes so I would be able to scrape it off with a butter knife.

It really amazes me on how slovenly some of my coworkers are. It really isn't that hard to cover up your food with a paper towel or wipe up the microwave after you use it if you make a mess.

There was a note before on the wall saying, "Please be courteous and clean up the microwave after you use it."

Apparently people didn't get that hint. Hopefully they will get this one:

I've already received anonymous complaints on my drawing and how some people find it offensive. If you find it offensive, then obviously don't have a sense of humor and are probably one of the violators of not cleaning up your fucking mess. I bet by the end of the week, the sign will somehow mysteriously disappear.

Offensive? A drawing of a microwave?! That is one big fail you found there, I salute you Ro.

Heh. If you met half the people I work with Nine, your head would explode from the shear stupidity.

Now, that would be a sight to see.

If it's done right, Time Warner ought to give users access to a page showing how much they've used.

Haven't you said you work a government job?
Yes, I do. Most of the people I work closely with are awesome and hilarious to work with. Our sister department, on the other hand, has a few choice people that make me want to stab them.

Isn't it obvious they're already doing it wrong. I got a WRT54G off ebay for £20 and, after putting the Tomato firmware on it, I can keep track of the house's bandwidth usage. In about two weeks I've used 40GB, mostly due to seeding a lot.

Also @Ro: You win; Also, I hope the stupidity eventually ends in you mightily owning them in great style.

Apart from the maximum cap being too low, I can't really say (the maximum needs to be ~300GB).

300GB (no, this is nor Sparta) seems a bit much for the moment, you'd be hard pressed to use half of that. The problem begins when more and more HD video and the such like begins to appear on the net.

Hehe. Actually, it was my supervisor who told me of the anonymous complaints. She said when the people told her it was offensive she replied, "Exactly how is a picture of a microwave asking you to keep it clean offensive? I'm not taking it down. Rochelle took out the time to clean up after all the messy people who are too lazy to clean up after themselves. If I let Rochelle really speak her mind and put up the sign she originally wanted to, then you would really be offended."

When she told me that, I lol'd. I <3 my supervisor.

    Ro FTW.
Is that one of those old, expensive at the time, super reliable microwaves?

A minor fail, I made a backup of TF2 for those times when I feel in the mood to play it and don't want to download the whole thing. When I made the DVD, I forgot to include the installation program, ended up burning it all over again.

Yes. It's very old. There are separate buttons for "Clear" and "Stop". You also have to press "Time" button before entering in the time you want to cook your food. Most microwaves now have instant cook whenever you press 1-6 and the "Clear" and "Stop" are pretty much the same button.

Not everyone needs 300GB, but the whole point of the tiered system is that you can offer it to those that want it. The largest plan my ISP here in Australia has is 200GB, but I figure some people in the States could use 300GB.

However, we also have a peak/off-peak split here, which changes things.

In any case, continue the discussion in the newly-resurrected TWC thread.

    Also, Ro FTW indeed.

  • I just finished a rather frustrating puzzle game on Kongregate (Exploit, if you're interested), and I just realized I need to attend a three-hour lecture on Hegel in twenty minutes. My brain is going to explode by the end of this.
  • I was just doing normal web browsing when I got a low disk space message. I hadn't been downloading anything at the time, so when I looked and saw that I had 76mb of free space left on my storage drive, I almost freaked out. I mean, I was already running low, but it was around 7gb last time I checked. Anyway, I deleted a few things that I didn't need to make room until I found it. I get the message again. I was starting to get worried and thought it might have been a virus or something, I really wasn't sure. Then I got a popup about my iTunes pausing the download of my podcast because of low space.

My iTunes had downloaded every episode of Geeknights on the feed when it reset for the website change. FML.

It is a First Impression by the anime blog Random Curiosity for the new fanserviceporno anime this Spring season, 2009. Normally I ignore most of the posts made on this blog, but it was truly random curiosity that took hold of me when I saw that this was the first impression for Queen's Blade. It can't be that bad, right? Rig-WRONG! WHAT THE FUCK, JAPAN?! I thought this show would be airing on television! Not this overdose of sexual fetishes. WHY JAPAN!? What the hell is wrong with you? Though the few ED images do look nice, and the image titles added are also hilarious, but seriously, why the hell is this airing on television?

  • This came through the letterbox a few days ago ahead of the regional elections (I voted lib-dem FYI). It appears fascism is alive and well.

Wow. If you have to print right on the flyer that you're not racist, you definitely are. That is crazy. How powerful is that party? Does anyone take them seriously? I mean, anyone who is to be taken seriously?

The BNP has risen from 0.1% to 8.0% of the vote. The fact that there is almost one in ten people who agree with them in the voting public gives me serious cause for concern.
