So to protect black people from racism we should re-institute segregation so they don't ever have to interact with us racist white people?
You kid, but one of their demands is
We DEMAND that Jazz Curriculum in the Conservatory be reflective of the students musical focus. Students SHOULD NOT be forced to take heavily based classical courses that have minimal relevance to their Jazz interests. Classical students are not forced to take Jazz courses, and seeing as how most Jazz students are of the Africana community, they should not be forced to take courses rooted in whiteness
EDIT: and of course not even the radical left is willing to talk about the Injun problem.
We DEMAND the creation of a department that focuses on languages of the Africana peoples to include a minimum of one language each from the African continent, Caribbean, and the Americas: ● The Americas: Black English, Creole, Gullah Dialect etc
In the past few days - Motherboard died, CPU ate shit. Both now replaced.
Also turns out that Queensland Transport have changed the way car registration works, so that where it used to work from date of payment(So, six months, paid three months after previous expiry, would be six months), now it works from date of previous payment expiry, thus meaning I have to pay for three months of time that I legally couldn't drive my car. As if rego wasn't expensive enough already, since it's about 400 bucks every six months. Fucking bastards.
Further whinging - Windows 10 refuses to be activated, despite having a valid key, and despite being a situation explicitly allowed by Microsoft(replacing faulty hardware). I spent SIX HOURS with a (very patient) Microsoft tech yesterday trying to fix it, after the previous day's talking to a Microsoft tech about it when I thought they'd fixed it. Phone support keeps promising to help, and then just dumps me back to the start of the phone tree. What the fuck, Microsoft.
Maybe being at this time of the year or I got an exceptional case when I made complaint / recommendation at the release of Windows 7, once they elevated the case to me needing an engineer to my specific case I would get daily or every 2nd day phone calls and emails till they fixed the speaker setup for surround.
The other time I changed my motherboard and nothing else, called, was given a code worked.
I had a pretty good experience w/ Microsoft tech support about a year ago too. Initial tech support couldn't figure out my problem and scheduled me with a higher-level engineer the next day.
Unlike Microsoft, Linux isn't a corporation. They're a non-profit foundation, so getting support wouldn't be as easy.
Quite a few distros sell enterprise support services to help support development. Most common normal-user problems can be solved with a bit of googling though.
I'm sure this lodge in northern Arizona that doesn't believe in actual insulation is great in the summer, but in the middle of winter? Holy fuck it's cold.
That kid will probably make more money than i ever will, on a film deal.
Honestly he's probably way too toxic for any such business venture, and since apparently another (or the same) hotel worker claims he and mommy had a firearm in their room, he very well could be looking at 30 years in a Mexican prison. Daddy's money isn't gonna save him there.
On New Years Eve, Berlin becomes a fireworks free-for-all zone. It's crazy but fun. Fun until I was hit in the thigh by a rocket. Fucking OUCH! I was then disappointed by the size of the bruise/burn when I took off my trousers. For such a sharp then lingering pain, I want better evidence.
Then yesterday we went out to a hipster cafe for brunch. Long story short: worst ever service, even for a hipster cafe! After many capers, we asked about our food order, as we'd been waiting almost an hour, and people who had arrived 20 minutes after us had already been served. Of course the food order had been lost. So we decided to leave. The only good service? We didn't have to pay for our drinks... but they even managed to fuck that up.
Thankfully we just laughed at the whole situation, and went to a local non-hipster cafe we knew could serve us correctly.
In the evening I watched this video about Harmy's Despecialized Star Wars Edit:
I was dumbfounded! Not by the work that has gone into restoring the original movie, but be the changes Lucas made to A New Hope. I know it's been covered many, many, many times, but I have NEVER SEEN the special edition of A New Hope. I only know some of the changes from videos and articles complaining about it. I've never seen Greedo shoot first, nor the added scene with Jabba the Hutt. This video showed loads more stuff I'd not seen.
I know, I know... welcome to 1997 and all that. But holy shit.
I don't know if I would want to drive a car that would be that easy to push down the stairs.
No, you don't. European minicars are more often than not tiny little recycled tin-cans that are about as safe as shoving your dick in a deli slicer, and pretty much exist through/for regulation loopholes, tax loopholes, or both.

Yeah it reminds me of those tiny cars on Top Gear that were so small and shitty they had to be classified as "Quadracycles"

Yeah, those are much of what I'm talking about.
Basically, if you're buying a european microcar, just buy a smartcar. They're not the greatest car in the world, but they get you where you need to go, they're tiny, okay to drive, and safe.
My fail of the day goes to my girlfriend for failing to see the immediate utility for an HTPC, not listening to my points about why an HTPC is superior to an XBOne, and finally not allowing me to run an hdmi cable to the tv from my PC because "it might mess up the Xbox".

Is anything this kid does a surprise anymore?
