  • Yes. Was anything else released for PC? Speaking of, I was actually pretty decent at the MSX one. Of course enemies couldn't shoot in non cardinal directions there...

Press the strangle button a bunch of times, not just once.
    Edit: 1 isn't for PC. 2 is.

  • The first MGS is on PC. I own it.

I was not aware. I now want to play it. Is it pirateable? Do you know if there are any differences with the PS1 version, or if the graphics are better? Does it run under Wine? I can't find it in PlayOnLinux.

  • Wikipedia says that 1 was ported on Windows, I believe it. But yes, it was extremely easy to kill everybody in the first Metal Gear Solid, just take the assault rifle and shoot everyone. On the other hand that rarely does any good, when in that game there was unlimited amount of enemies, but I honestly don't remember having any trouble fighting against the normal troops. Not that I often had to because avoiding them was pretty trivially easy with the godly radar.
  • It's probably pirate-able as are all things. I don't think there's a significant difference between the two versions. Though the control scheme change makes things like the torture scene harder. I don't know about the Linux stuff, but it's a win98 or similar game so I wouldn't be surprised. Also you only get the assault rifle on easy mode I think, or maybe they just take it away on hard.

I figured out how to strangle people to death by mid-game. That's an endless source of pistol ammo, and saves me a lot of alarms. Also, I can't imagine what sort of hippy Psycho Mantis thought I was ( kill total was literally 2 guys in a tank, and maybe (and in fact not) a Cyber-Ninja). Assault rifle however I don't get- how do I aim at things?

I don't know the PC wersion, personally played in on PS1,long time ago, but if I remember right, you just hold down the shooting button and Snake aims with a little nice laser pointing at your target.
  • Bioshock 2, should I buy it? Or more accuratly, is it worth buying and playing for only five dollars?

BioShock 2 has better gameplay than BioShock, but it has a worse story. I'm not saying it's bad, I'm just saying it's not as good as the pre-Super Nintendo boss fight story in the first game.

Also, the bee plasmid is not only useful, but is completely broken and awesome.

  • Okay, I just finished playing a little bit of BioShock 1 for the first time ever. That game has to be the creepiest game I have played since the SNES game Clocktower on an emulator. The only problem I have right now is that my computer is a piece of shit, and when I turn my camera at times, the game stutters. Therefore, I'm probably not going to touch this game again until I can make myself a better computer, which sucks. I wonder if Amnesia: The Dark Descent is going to be scarier?

    Yes.
  • Currently playing Sequence via Xbox Live. At $3 dollars, it's a damn steal, because the gameplay is so damn cool. It's very much like Frequency/Amplitude, but it's a pretty nifty multitasking game where you'll think and react completely differently at times. From all the button placements and things you need to do just for one battle, it makes every fight difference. And the soundtrack is really slick and works with the style.

If I had any issue...the dialogue is pretty laughable at times. It feels obnoxiously Diablo Cody inspired. And the 2nd Guardian...who boy, I'm amazed they thought that was worth putting through. It gets a tad bit grindy at times, but because of how the item craft/synthing system works, it makes the process much more worth it.

Check out System Shock 2 if you haven't already. It was the predecessor to Bioshock and in my opinion does the creepy/tense thing so much better.

Currently playing a lot of Battlefield 3. It's my first Battlefield game. Loving it. I am shit at jets and helicopters but pretty good with jeeps and ground combat. DC Universe Online went free to play the other day so I will probably play that for an afternoon or two before getting bored.

I have wanted to try System Shock 2 for quite a while, but I haven't been able to find a working version of it.

Yeah for some stupid reason the game has gone out of print. You can't even find it on Good Old Games. The only option is to pirate it really. There's a few patches out there to help it run on modern OSes.

I have been trying the pirating route too, but at best I've got the game running without sounds.

I played through the entirety of Bioshock and got scared maybe five times by enemies jumping out of the dark. To contrast, I have played Amnesia for 1.1 hours in ten minute segments, quitting out of raw animal fear every single time.

  • Starting an LP for Deus Ex: Human Revolution because I enjoyed it that much.
A who what? I might be replaying Deus Ex again.
A Let's Play, where I make a video of myself playing the game and then record funny audio over it.
  • Pokemon Rumble Blast on the 3DS has been a lot of fun. Co-op works very well as long as both players have Pokemon of similar power levels. Otherwise one player kills everything and the other just watches.

    Do you fight Nic Cage?

  • The Headhunter tonic is also hella broken. I wander into a room and half the people have rivets in their craniums [crania?] before anyone can even shout half a threat my way.
  • Radiant Historia is a pretty good jRPG with an awesome Yoko Shimomura soundtrack. I like what it's doing with the story that lets you jump around to different points in time. It feels like a western RG in the vein of Mass Effect or Fallout 3 where you can go back and change your answer to key plot questions to see how things would play out. Except, you know, linear.

Catherine, meanwhile, is mostly a movie with block puzzles sometimes. Granted, it's a very good movie, and the block puzzles are challenging without being overly frustrating (then again I am playing on Easy difficulty since I heard this game was hard as balls).
  • Awesome, another Historia fan. Yet another DS game that is fairly original (I have never seen a combat system quite like it) and will probably go under the radar, even for people who like RPG’s

If you have a DS and like JRPG’s, this is one of the best!

If you liked Chrono Trigger AT ALL, you will be in heaven.
  • I have tested the Radiant Historia and it seemed interesting, but I'm still in the middle of Chrono Trigger on DS and my one rule is that only one jrpg per system at a time. (It should be one jrpg at a time, but I'm constantly breaking that).

I know right? I'm in the middle of Historia and currently playing Xenoblade on Wii. I'm too scared to even turn on PS3 lest I find a 3rd game that sucks me in!

I loved Trigger DS. I think the portability made an excellent game even more accessible.

Zelda soon :) RPG's and such make me so happy. Guess its just my game type.

  • Still mostly playing BF3 when I can, with Dawn of War 2 thrown in there... I also finally got a chance to play an awesome round of Warhammer 40k tabletop last weekend, it made me so happy to finally field some Space Marines and take down some heretical scum...

As well, I finally finished a 6-month game of Megamek. It was awesome, and I'm planning on spending some time tonight putting together a new map for my next game of 2 players... here's the scenario I thought up:
It is the year 3051, the Clans have finally made themselves known once again. In the space of a year, they have been successful in invading numerous worlds, despite the fierce fighting put up by Inner Sphere forces.

In the meantime, the defenders of Callisto V, a small manufacturing planet on the fringes of Inner Sphere space, have heard the news and were busily readying defenses. With all of their 'Mech lances recalled to more strategically important positions, they were left with a defense force of mainly vehicles, naval forces, infantry platoons, battle armor, and a few industrial mechs. The one mech that is available has been brought out of the planetary defense force museum: an aging MSK-6S "Mackie" Assault mech, one of the first to roll off the assembly lines nearly 500 years prior.

However, the preparations are over as the combined forces of the Clans have come to Callisto V. Their target: the coastal city of Callistan, the largest city and planetary capital. As a show of force and how futile resistance is, the Clan leadership has chosen to field a force of Light mechs, supported by Elementals and a single Medium mech to act as a command and control unit.
By the way, if anyone is interested in Megamek feel free to let me know.. if I have time I'm happy to play.
  • I am replaying Majora's Mask and realized this is Nintendo's version of what a sandbox game is. Wish more Sandboxes had the atmosphere like this game.
  • Batman: Arkham City was pretty awesome, now I am playing Uncharted 1. In less than 7 days I will be immerse in the world of Skyrim :O
  • Batman: Arkham City was pretty awesome
I wouldn't know, since the PC release was already a month behind consoles, and now it's been pushed back another Two weeks.
