  • Borderlands 2 in 3 days... Where is the Carbonite when you need it.

    Hurry up!
  • I ran into the loop, but after about 3 restarts it didn't prompt me to restart again and now it works fine. Not sure what fixed it.

Bro-oping BL2 tonight. Dungeon Raid on my phone till then (and work I guess).

Has anyone gotten split screen coop working on PC? does it well in conjunction with online coop? I can't find a straight answer online.

  • Just got Dirt 3 for free with my new graphics card, I heard Sonic wanted peeps to get in on that with him so I might give it a go. Also Planetside 2 is some hot shit.
  • Played a solid two hours of Borderlands 2 in someone's dorm. Even with the new stuff, it is still not my cup of tea :/
  • I will wait on Borderlands 2 until it's cheap and play it with three other people who also wait co-op. ;^) I got burned buying the first Borderlands early, and it's clear they didn't address the level-related issues with co-op.

Even with the new stuff it's still the exact same game. I would figure if you didn't like the first one you wouldn't like this.

Jeremy and I are enjoying it. The online multiplayer is a lot better with getting it started vs. that Gamespy crap.

I don't think they fixed that whole playing with new friends who are starting with different levels.

The level related issues are the same as Castle Crashers, but at the same time what can they do to fix it?

    Edit:
Finally finished all the main levels of Yoshi's Island 100%.
I've heard it called the best 2D platformer before. I would have to agree.

  • Well for one, remove the level based damage calculations. Attacking a target of higher level reduces your numeric damage by a percentage in Borderlands (don't know about 2). Removing that fixes a good chunk of middling level differences.

The more difficult step is to actually scale characters like, for example, Star Wars the Old Republic did. They actually did a reasonable job at that up to level 49 at release.

When I was walking home from work yesterday I was thinking of some ways to balance the game reasonably while still keeping it fun. Honestly with their current layout I feel like it wouldn't be that difficult, it would just take some creative thinking and some experimentation. I'd post my thoughts but it will turn into a few lengthy paragraphs.

I tend to have a bigger issue with either going into a game where someone is ahead of me in the story or going back and replaying the same thing that I played right after I played it.

    Ain't that the truth.

I liked the first one... I just thought it didn't live up to what it could be. Second one didn't address the issues I had, so-far. The level design did improve... slightly. So that's good. But it's not going to change anyones real opinion.

The biggest problems I have come in two categories. Level/encounter design, and general loot/inventory/management for diablo-esque systems. I have tertiary concerns about the RPG aspects and co-op. All things that could have been addressed by now.

  • I was sort of hoping the NPCs would be a little less cardboard stand-up than in the first one. I haven't actually loaded the game yet, it's sitting on top of my XBOX at home waiting for me.

I really enjoyed the first one A LOT, but yeah, it had some room for improvement.
  • Nice Yoshi vid Rochelle :)

Next up, Advance Wars 2! The one AW game I haven't played, been saving it for a rainy day. Micro locked and loaded, it will NEVER LEAVE MY PERSONAGE until I am done!

I am probably in the minority, but I FRIGGIN LOVE the GBA Micro.
  • Dude, the GBA Micro is dope. I don't own one, but it's a triumph of design.

The thing about Red Coins, never noticed it before. *mind blown*

I think I may just hook up the SNES again, or just play on the 3DS XL. :3

RED COINS!! I just played over 50 hours of the damn game and STILL didn't notice this... I have been collecting EVERY coin the whole way though.

  • Wait, what's the deal with red coins? I know that the red coins subtly look different, and you want to collect them all for max score. But why not collect every coin anyway? No coin is a bad coin.
  • Yeah, they look slightly different. I never noticed that. I always just figured COLLECT ALL THE COINS!
  • I loooove Game Grumps

Let's imagine a situation where you jump from a high ledge to grasp coins in the air and let's say you missed two, now you can ether waste some eggs to get them, or spend time climbing back to the ledge to get the coins that way, or you can just look at them, see that they are not red coins and keep moving.

Sure trying to get all the coins is nice, but sometimes I value time more than few non-red-coins.

Oh, I can see now that you were all wasting time because you could not recognize red coins. Maybe you should make a red coin mod.

THIS! Oh man... Oh shit... I collected EVERY coin... Well, you know, until I memorised where the red coins were... SO MANY HOURS...

I'm going to go kill myself now, BRB.

When did I say I didn't recognize them?
