  • Well that's unfortunate to hear. I might have been confused about the critics thing, as a quick Metacritic glance has ST 3 points lower than PH. We'll see how far I get.

I also have my Minish Cap badge, although I haven't opened Skyward Sword yet. The DS is much easier for me to squeak gaming time in with, but if ST does turn into a letdown, I may just switch tracks to Skyward Sword. Oh the horrible puns...
  • Torchlight 2.
  • Planetside 2

The game just gives me the large scale combat that I crave. Nothing like running around with anti-tank mines behind enemy lines or working furiously to keep all the turrets on a platform operational. There are so many times the game gives you those heart pounding moments where you can change the tide of a battle.

Only bitchy thing is how long it takes to unlock guns (since they want you to pay for them since it's Free2play)
  • I'm still playing FFXIII ftw.
  • I'd probably have more fun with XIII if I literally had no interaction with it. I found 20 minutes of cutscenes followed by one battle, walk up a hill and 20 more minutes of cutscenes to be annoying. Just put everything on auto and watch it unfold.

Sturmgrenadier took The Crown on Indar in ten minutes last night. It was re-god-damned-diculous. One of the most intense and furious firefights I've ever been in.

Yea I was with you, it was intense. Big problem with the game is communication with non squad members I kept pinging you in game and you never noticed.

They should add an ability to deploy near friends.

  • Guild Wars 2 is amazing. It's really all I've ever wanted from an MMO and then some.

-Combat is fantastic and actually gives purpose to dodging and terrain.
-Crafting is fun and offers real fun in discovery.
-The Trading Post is a welcome alternative to Auction Houses, offering instantaneous selling.
-Real immersion! Especially in the motion comics and the way the story adapts to your own personal character. The voicing and the motion comics are really smooth in getting you into the personal story quests.
-Questing and Experience feels very organic and lends to a real freedom of taking things at your own pace and discovering the world the way you want to. (And you are encouraged as well!)

Only thing I hate, is the loading screens. But aside from that, I am absolutely on the train of "This game is phenomenal and a true game changer."

I just wish I could skip the nonsense battles easier. Like when its just two easy dog dudes or whatever. All I have to do is hit X enough to beat them anyway. When you gotta do paradigm shifts and actually try for different chains and stuff its a lot of fun.
  • Guild Wars 2
Yeah it's really good. They streamlined so much stuff, but in really good ways, and not stupid ways. My laptop really can't run it well tho, so I can't get involved in the large scale pvp shit unfortunately.
  • Playing Black 2 right now.
  • Shit I really want to get Ni No Kuni.. but I have no time to play it and also Final Fantasy XIII ftw :(

Do you have a commute of some kind? If so, Ni no Kuni might fill that gap.

  • I am currently playing Seiken Densetsu 3 (aka Secret of Mana 2). I'm not too far in, but I am not sure if I like it more than Secret of Mana.
  • I still like Legend of Mana the best.
  • I still like Legend of Mana the best.
    Never played it. Should I?

I think it's amazing, it's on the PSN store.

  • Downloaded and played the demo of Ni No Kuni on PS3. Level 5 + Ghibli in an rpg? SOLD!

Yeah. I only realized tonight that only the PS3 version was released, and not the DS version (The Jet Black Mage). Mea culpa.

Rocksmith was on Steam for $15 a while back, so I picked it up with the USB chord. Nothing super profound in the teaching methods - you get used to the interface pretty easily, songs get gradually more difficult and similar to the real thing as you master them (in a way that's frustratingly vague), and there are some decent games to help improve your technique as well as a cool "amp" mode that mimics the setup of songs you have already played. I don't think it "gamifies" the incentive of practicing guitar that effectively, but it does offer some neat tools to make playing more approachable and interesting.

Definitely not worth the MSRP of $80, but I snagged it for around $40, and it's been useful just as a motivational tool. I'm definitely faring better with it than the last time I tried to teach myself, but that may also be from the much nicer guitar I'm using (it's my roommate's).

  • I also picked it up, and it is pretty enjoyable. It's algorithm for determining difficulty is a bit harsh - it doesn't give you much breathing room before trying to make you pick up a new technique or set of notes/chords, but on the whole, it's not bad by any means. I think it's probably more enjoyable to someone who already has the basics of guitar down pat, rather than someone coming to it totally fresh.

Also, the songs included in the game, it's a pretty good selection, certainly more varied and interesting than some other guitar games, plastic or otherwise. Plus, the songs they release as the DLC every two weeks or so are mostly pretty choice.
  • Kentucky Route Zero. Preeeeettttttyyyyy coooooool.
  • Finished Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed. Was such a good racer, but it'll forever be a "B" title because for all intents and purposes, it is a single player game. With local multiplayer, the non-gamepad people have to use wiimote tilt to steer. I'll leave it at that.

Played the Rayman Legends demo. Seriously I think Nintendo is the last company on the planet to finally offer demos. Rayman was fun and I can appreciate the quirkiness (especially on that third level of the demo, the musical one), but I still don't 100% "get" Rayman.

Currently still playing Spirit Tracks and have started up ZombiU

No they don't, you can use Classic Controllers.

  • XCOM
I lost my squad leader, the only remaining member of the team from the first mission. Haven't played it since. The feels...they're too much.

I was planning to build the Breakfast Squad, but I ended up with a squad of unkillable badasses who were in no way the Breakfast squad, so I ended up going with them instead. I never lost one, but I came real close a few times.

  • I didn't really lose any important squaddies until I got to the
mind control aliens. They can take down my best units.
