The problem is landing a job in a VA hospital. EVERY med student in the US wants debt relief.
Yes, if you aren't already a vested civilian or have some specialized degree that the VA desperately needs, most of our jobs go to Veterans. Well administrative side mostly, however the medical side really depends, but being a Veteran you get preference on your application.

As much as it might sound like I'm being a dick about this, but I very much agree with this - I think that should be the case.

I agree with this as well, however I will disagree with not firing or reprimanding people just because they are Veterans. If you're not qualified for a job and have been given many chances and sufficient training, you should be let go or put into a place that is more fitting.
There are so many people that I work amongst that are barely qualified to turn on a computer and have been working here for many years.

Well, yeah, that makes perfect sense - If the person can't do the job, You can't give them a pass because they're a Veteran, you either get your shit together and learn, or you go do something else - Veterans should get the help they may need, but they should not be given a free pass in that regard any more than they had while they were still under arms.
However, this also fits in neatly with my previous stated position - Because if you can't do your job, you're taking up a spot where someone who can could be and therefore is not, and that is just not on. As much as you may deserve help, you damned well don't deserve to get help that doesn't suit you at the personal expense of others, especially when the situation could be better by putting you somewhere else.
But, Of course, call me on it if I'm talking shit here, you're the one with the the knowledge of the system you work in, not me.
The Boehner gives us a perfect example of playing both sides of an issue by saying raising the debt ceiling is irresponsible, but in the same breath saying that they're going to deny any legislation to do so without trillions of cuts. Oh, and he also said that they won't accept any tax increases to help pay for anything, because that'd hurt the economy. Republican logic is so borked right now I can't even understand it anymore.
Seeing as they have nothing of value to offer and nothing of substance to criticize, pundits and future presidential hopeful retardshave jumped all over the fact that the rapper Common appeared at the White House. Why is this such a big deal, you ask? Because Common astutely pointed out during the Bush years that the administration clearly cared more about war and oil than helping poor families. Also because he had song lyrics that glorified the killing of a police officer...except that his lyrics were in a song from over a decade ago and any songs since then lack any mention of killing cops. It's gotten so blown out of proportion that the president of the NJ State Troopers assosciation has claimed that Obama is an acolyte of Rev. Wright and likes Common more than cops. Aside from that retardedness, Bill-O was making allusions the other day on his radio show that Obama was under Wright's thumb because he and Common went to the same church. Because you know, two people who went to the same church and lived in the same area are obviously under the direct influence of their religious leader and can't think for themselves. Oh yeah, did I mention that Faux News, who has been running the story all over the place and giving an outlet for Karl Rove, Palin, and others to spew vaguely racist conspiracy-theories was praising him a few months ago as "very positive" and "conscious"? Why does the right wing not understand that the internet remembers things they said?

The Daily show did a two part segment last night that COMPLETELY destroyed fox news for this.
From Fark comments "We live in the Age of Autism. Life has become so isolated and insular for many people that no reality outside their own skin exists for them. Libertarianism is autism translated into politics."
So we've hit the debt ceiling. Again. And it looks like a group of House Republicans-jee, I wonder just which ones-are threatening to shoot down any legislation to raise the debt ceiling unless cuts get made.
Well, we SHOULDN'T raise the debt ceiling. Doesn't mean they're not wrong (we should raise taxes, not cut things-- at least, not the spending they want to cut), but we shouldn't allow more debt.

It will be impossible to reduce the deficit enough to avoid raising the debt ceiling in so short a span of time. We've raised it every time this has come up for some 30 years, and this time won't be any different.
We need long term changes, mostly involving tax increases, to solve this.

We can't take away the Bush tax cuts, that's a tax increase and will hurt small businesses! We can't take away the billions of dollars in tax breaks to oil companies, it will hurt small business! We should keep the debt ceiling where it is, and give more tax cuts, because Reganomics! We don't need the EPA or the FDA or the DoE or Welfare or Medicare or Medicaid or regulatory committees! Just get rid of them and the problem will go away!

HE'S BEEN DRINKING TEA! GET THIS HYSTERICAL MAN SOME COFFEE, STAT.
Ahh, Faux News. Screaming about the constitutional rights of the Tea Party until someone else deserves those rights. Then the constitution doesn't matter. Also, the main anchor makes some comments are beyond asinine and hyperbolic.
Governor Rick Perry of Texas will probably enter the presidential race. Because, you know, a guy who campaigned on hating Washington will totally be a good choice. And we all know what a bang-up job the last Texan asshole did.
I think it would be interesting if the US or even the UN put huge bounties (like in the billions) on cures that could be made immediately public domain.

Never thought I'd say it, but thanks, Florida Governor Rick Scott.

I'm totally taking credit for this
