Who gives a shit about starter Pokemon, they all suck. Why do they stick to the stupid formula of having only three to choose from, and always having them be plant/fire/water? Why can I take my pick of like 20 different Pokemon to start with?
I played Pokemon Red on the original GB, and I can tell you the best Pokemon ever is this guy.

It has to do with the learning curve, for people who have never played one of the games before. Having this introduces the way types work in battles. It simplifies the rock-paper-scissor mechanic before eventually complicating it.
The charmander line's crap too. It could've been great if they had followed on with charmeleon to CHARAPTOR. A monstrous raging dinosauric behemoth tearing you several new ones because you looked funny at its trainer. Instead we got a grumpy fire-dragon.
Why can I take my pick of like 20 different Pokemon to start with?
Because type advantage rival. Duh. And it's easier for all that way.
the best Pokemon ever is this guy. [dragonite] Why? Because he's a fucking dragon. Don't fuck with dragons. Dragon. Don't fuck with it.
And a sealion can trivially rape his ass back and forth without lifting a fin.
Ho-lee shit, I am digging Yanappu's evolved form. Freaking monkey with a pompadour!
EDIT: Also, the Monozu line is pretty boss. I'm pretty okay with having a Hydra.
Overall, the designs are really... interesting. They definitely went for a completely different design scheme, and there is a definite lack of blatant cuteness (the overly cute Pokemon are just too saccharine sweet for me, and I look at Pokemon that people usually wouldn't find cute and see them as adorable, like Garchomp).
EDIT 2: HOLY SHIT. THE HEAVY METAL ZEBRA'S EVOLUTION IS SO FREAKING METAL. HE'S THE BEST. I am so going to put one on my team. Along with the Ghost/Fire Chandelier, the Dark/Steel guy, and my Wotter. I find it so weird that there is a plethora of Grass types that I like. Grass is one of my favourite types, but most of the designs in previous generations suck.
Pokabu line makes me happy and that's all that matters over here. :P I'll just have a happy time getting my ass kicked by all of your wotters. Tabunne and Zoroark will definitely be on my team with boo.
I don't know what to think about Yoteri's final evolution, MEGA-MUSTACHE FLUFFPUPPY, but it made me laugh.
Also, very nice to finally have a kitty who's not some throwaway normal type. A dark type leopard? It's about time we got some more big cats.
Seriously though, is one of those pokemon really an ice cream scoop? For real? :[
EDIT: HEEE KUNG FU WEASEL POKEMON FIGHTING TYPE I AM HAPPY.
It's another fire/fighting starter when Pokabu has a black bandanna and shorts on! They should've made him fire/dark and wotter water/fighting. And maybe the grass starter grass/flying.

... PERSIAN, BITCH. Knocks that purple pussy out and switches before you can even attempt to scratch it. And do not mock Normal type when you get GUTS backed STAB Facades coming your way.
Seriously though, is one of those pokemon really an ice cream scoop? For real? :[
It's a stalactite with snow on top shaped like an ice cream yeah. The gears are worse though.
When six geodudes fight six afrobulls, you get to see a scene from a Pokemonized blaxsploitation flick, and each trainer gets a bottle of Cisco (functionally a Full Restore) and a carton of Newports (same as X Speed).
Even though I love Pokabu and his line, this would have been super cool.
Scream with me in rage: GAME FREAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAK!!
What the hell has followed Persian up?
NOTHING. Because Persian is AWESOME. Not even this purple thing (evolved form looks worse than basic form imho, just like Glameow/Purugly) will follow up Persian. At least, unlikely, it doesn't have the stats to use Unburden at all, and Limber is not that useful an ability unless you come across a lot of thunder wave (from Persian...).
Persian's never done that for me.
Persian's not a guts user. I talked about Normal type in general there. Swellow burns the fuck out of a lot once on fire. Double edge Clefable + life orb + belly drum is also godly. Normal types have great potential, but mostly bad typing, fighting attacks every fucking where.
I love normal types, but a lot of them get shafted - especially the cats of the previous two generations.
Koromori is a flying mouth. With wings. And I'm pretty sure that Dokkora's a yakuza, what with his pompadour and his beating stick. Warubiaru looks like something straight out of Earthbound.

What is up with those crap stats, man. Why do they design some pokemon to wind up being useless like that?

I do love Clefable, especially with the Magic Guard. I've always liked using Zangoose too, even if he's fragile. Fighting types are my favorites, but the normal types that they crush are close behind.
INSTEAD LET'S GIVE IT A FLOATING SPIKEY RING THING. YEAH. That does it!
That makes sense right up there with not-Luvdisc. ): Seriously, why no new evolutions? I know they're completely stuck on the "new start" bullcrap for this gen, but new evos for old pokemon was one thing that kept old players coming back. So very many shafted mons..

They only made new evolutions in Generations II and IV, and in II it was only because of the introduction of Baby forms.

For the sake of balance, the next generation of Pokemon should not contain any new Pokemon, and should only contain evolutions of existing Pokemon. I want to see some crazy shit like Articuno evolving into something crazy awesome.

Generation V is going to be (hopefully) a better version of III. Game Freak is making a lot of the same decisions (setting it far away from the other land masses, all new Pokeymanz, trying to change up the formula a little bit), I just hope they get it right this time. While Generation III was a big step forward, it wasn't as good as the previous games.

Above all else, they better make it faster. If I turn off animations, I want that battle to go as fast as I can press A.
Also, I'm still sticking with my previous plan. I'm not getting black or white. I'm waiting for gray.
I can honestly say I don't like most of the new Pokemon designs. They're not bad, they're just not that interesting. Also, a lot of the type combinations are really boring. Only about...A quarter of the types for the new Pokemon are cool. I'm really pissed off that the Grass AND Water starters don't have secondary types, and that we have ANOTHER Fire/Fighting.

There are 17 different types. Pokemon can have one or two types. the number of possible pokemon with two types is 17^2 which is 289. Add to that the 17 possible Pokemon with just one type and you get 306 possible unique Pokemon types. If they made it possible for a Pokemon to have no type at all, not even normal type, then it could be 307. Well, there are a lot more than 307 Pokemon, has every possible type combination been used? I think so, but I'm not 100% positive. Also, if they added more types, could they maintain balance? The type effectiveness chart isn't symmetrical. A new type might be unfairly strong or unfairly weak. Even so, they need more types to get more interesting.
If I were in charge of Pokemon I would have all new Pokemon with all new types.
Yeah, I want more new types. And no, we have a lot of type combinations that haven't been used. I've looked at it before. The few new interesting ones I saw were Grass/Steel, Bug/Fire, Bug/Electric, and like...Fire/Ghost and Water/Ghost. There are a lot of cool new Ghost Pokemon.

Dragon. Don't fuck with it.
Yes.
Also: Pocket Dragons.
Impressions: HOLY FUCKING SHIT, some of those base stats are ridiculous.
Further, Ghost/Water type.
WHY THIS, WHY NOT THIS?! Also, levitating electric type. Moldbreakers, gravity and iron ball trickers out of the closet!

This guy is my favorite.

I don't know what to think about Yoteri's final evolution, MEGA-MUSTACHE FLUFFPUPPY, but it made me laugh.

Tamagetake is the new Voltorb.
And there's definitely an ice cream cone and a chandelier Pokemon.
Also, I'm still sticking with my previous plan. I'm not getting black or white. I'm waiting for gray.
I'm going to get Black and the third version (like I always do).
If I were in charge of Pokemon I would have all new Pokemon with all new types.
