  • So I'm assuming that Civ V's multiplayer is garbage? I'm looking forward to solo play, but I'm not aware of why multiplayer is terrible.
It's poorly implemented, due to not having a defined turn order. It used to be slow and crash all the time, but that's supposed to have been patched.
Combat between players is basically bullshit in Civ V currently unless you play local hotseat.

  • Thief Gold is now on GoG.com! Time to play the only stealth game that's really a stealth game.
  • I only played Thief 2
  • Blackjack'd a dude from behind over the head, he didn't go down. Damnit.
  • Humble Bundle for Android (and Windows, Mac, and Linux):

I think I'll wait on this one. I already have some of those games, and my android tablet doesn't play games all that well. Hopefully they're just holding back the big games like they usually do.
  • While having your game collection just a click away is nice..

  • Yea, one of my 500GB partitions is completely filled because of Steam.
  • I don't actually keep most of my steam games installed... and I keep my steam directory on my SSD for faster load times.

    Steam mover.

My steam directory is on an SSD now, so it's become a sort of Zen meditative practice to keep the folder less than 40GB

  • nah, I just delete games. The save files save so it's no big deal. So I delete single player games and generally leave multiplayer games.
  • Nutnfancy, the youtuber, is going to be on Glenn Beck. While he's a little over the top with his "EDC" and guns and whatnot, I thought he had enough sense to not be on the side of someone THAT crazy.

But how does this get me the vidja gaems?

  • I solve this problem by never actually installing most of the games I buy. ;^)

What did you say at Magfeset? It was something like only 12 or 20% of your games you've ever played?
  • Growing up I played everything I owned. Then steam happened and now I've only played about 30%, and many of them I've never beaten.

Until you hit a certain threshold of money. Then you have both forever.
  • Don't you mean inversely proportional?

I still can't understand why so many people above this threshold continue to work. Maybe they like working the most, and that's what they want to do. I can understand that part. What I don't understand is when people continue to work and pursue even more moneys. Steve Jobs had the $1 salary and such. These other guys just keep trying to get as much money as possible at all cost when they have enough to retire to a private tropical island for themselves and the next five generations of their family without having to work ever.

Megalomania? Avarice? You have to be driven my something more the the desire for leisure and security to make it to the top of the heap and when your up there all alone the only thing you've got is getting more, going further.

That Steve Jobs chose to die of a treatable cancer instead of taking time off work says something.

  • Do these megalomaniacs not learn one of the most important lessons?

    LOOK, YE MIGHTY
  • They don't see what comes before, so they don't realize that which drives them will destroy them.

By the time it got to that point, it was essentially too far gone. He caught it early, and it's not refusal to take time off work that killed him, it was the woo-woo bullshit he pissed about with first that pretty much did him in.

  • I would guess that many people who work far after becoming wealthy have the same problems many retirees have. If they don't have a job they don't have anything to do, so they may as well keep working.

Maybe the previous generation. We have video games.

  • Moon bases aren't going to build themselves.
  • If you are one of those people who only has XBox Silver, you can download the demo of Mass Effect 3 for free right now. Then you will automatically get upgraded to Gold, for free, until Mass Effect 3 is released.
  • I'm probably dropping to silver and never looking back. I don't use gold anymore really.
