  • Fuck that, let's play Advance Wars at PAX. ;^)
    Hahahahahaha I call not it.
  • I have a sneaking suspicion that there are other games like Advance Wars that have never been translated.

Yes, but they are older Game Boy games. We have all the newest ones.

  • The funny thing is that Days of Ruin actually didn't get a Japanese release.
  • I have acquired this "Pokemon: Conquest" at the Nintendo store. I may talk about in the future.

Warning: "talking" may consist entirely of me going on at length about how it's the BEST GAME EVAAAAAR and how I'm never going to play anything else ever again.
  • Games like Advance Wars, not other Advance Wars games. It's mostly as they seem like games that could be made by a small team due to not needing huge amounts of assets.

Something like Sengoku Rance but less leveling up and porn.

    Really??? Nintendo, you crazy.

Please sell me on it, because it just looks like FF: Tactics and I quickly got bored of A2.

I may not be able to: my excitement for playing this is mainly predicated on my love of the Final Fantasy Tactics and Fire Emblem games, which this promises to have elements of.
  • GameStop wouldn't stop bitching at me to pre-order Pokemon Conquest. In a moment of weakness, and with a promise of free exclusive Pokemon, I gave in. I went today to pick up my copy of the game.

Apparently, I can pick up my copy of Pokemon Conquest tomorrow.

Today's note on Pokemon Conquest: the AI is dumb as bricks, and has silly objective prioritization.

Are you talking about the one where they sit on the banners and don't move?
  • Don't forget to check pokemonconquest.com for some free rare pokemon via codes. You can get Oshawatt (the water starter from Black and White) and something called a Gible this month, along with something for pre-ordering at GameStop, and a code for a Dratini in the box.

I wonder, does it check online if the passwords have been used? If not, we should pool any codes for the pre-order pokemon and the PowerUp Rewards pokemon for everyone.
  • The codes are definitely an offline thing. We can share them all. Here is a code that the Nintendo Store Employee gave me.

    vVALFrGTXX

I entered it, and it said the code was valid. Except it also said that it could only be used after a particular event. I need to re-enter the code after the event. I think it gets cinccino.
  • Yeah, I'm very tempted to buy this game today.

Alright, then my stupid decision to buy it at GameStop paid off.
The PowerUp Pokes (The PUR site doesn't actually, you know, tell me which one is which, but this pack contains Axew, Beldum, Darmanitan, Larvitar, and Sneasel).
    •pK5RgzqLG8, CMqkZRRSRX, Rc338MpqLx, BqWxXEK3xg, Lpu3ggCYk8
    The Pre-Order Bonus Pokes:
    Emolga - Jnm3kqgN8X
    Lapras - GfV33RVN3F
    Piakchu - FZP8GqRZRR
    Riolu - Shw8mxRAJR
    Scyther - 8GV3LMGmM
Yeah, I'm very tempted to buy this game today.
If you have any enjoyment of Final Fantasy Tactics or Advance Wars style games, it's a great choice. There are precious few new DS/3DS games that have come out that I actually care about recently, this is one.
  • I wonder if ALL the pokemons are in this game.

    Can I field some Spiritombs?
  • I heard there's around 200 'mans in this game. Spiritomb is... Not on The List, though. Looks like Ghosts only get the Ghastly line.

There are ~200 pokemons up ins.

    EDIT: What Neito said.

Spiritomb is indeed on that list. Learn to use ctrl+f and also watch the fuck out.
  • I will have the game tomorrow. I'll warn all of you that I plan to Advance Wars it (unless the strategy boils down the the Final Fantasy Tactics level ;^) ).

There's not too much going on strategy wise. All you have to do is rock-paper-scissors the Pokemon types and make sure that any Pokemons that get hurt either heal themselves or move out of the way. The one strategic thing I keep forgetting is to use the trainer powers, but that's not exactly a strategy.

I just noticed that and was on my way back here to correct myself. I did CTRL-F, but apparently was spelling it wrong.

It's fun, but it's Pokemon. Each pokemon has exactly one move it can use, plus a warrior power, so there's none of this "covering your weakness with a move that's super effective against things super effective against you" stuff.
  • It sounds like it's actually a LOT like Crystal Warriors.

A bit. But it's also a Nobunaga's Ambition game, so there's a lot of castle management, too.
  • The castle management is okay, the combat is a bit simplistic for my tastes, and it has a massive problem where damage changes depending on the way a pokemon is facing but there's no way to control which way a pokemon faces at the end of the turn.
  • I did not know that facing mattered. Snap.
  • edited June 2012
Isn't that how it was in FFTA? If you waited, you got to pick direction but if you attacked, you were stuck facing the same way.
    Post edited by Omnutia on
  • Yeah, but in this one you can't pick direction even if you wait. Which is a pain in the neck.
  • Conquest acquired. I'll be starting it up later this evening.
