Dude, ceramics is legit. Those guys study Kevlar, aramids, and ultralight stealth plating. Not quite the same as pottery at the university level, as I understand it.
It's pottery, but I found that pottery game for android so cathartic. And it looks like so much fun in real life. And you actually learn a neat skill that lets you make things.

Could always make ultralight stealth pottery.
In 1989 the american government built the most stealthiest cup known to man in a bit to infiltrate the Russian how beverage network. The fall of the Union saw the end of this brave band of stealth pottery. Now they exist as soldiers of fortune, daring devils who will do the jobs that no one else can.
Also anyone here good with making ceramics? I'd like to make a suit of ODST armor.
A tip I learned for weight loss is resistance training. Weight lifting actually burns a lot of calories, and ensures that the weight you're losing is fat, not muscle.

What security do I want for my laptop to protect it from theft at college? Are physical locks worthwhile? Is there software I should be running? What should be password protected?

Common sense is probably your best guard. Provided you are taking your laptop about either: have in in your bag and on your person, or in arms reach and visible. Don't leave your bag or laptop anywhere even "just for a moment" unless someone you reasonably trust is watching it. A laptop lock cable probably isn't a completely wasted investment, but if you're being smart you probably won't need it. As for software security, have a non-trivial password to your OS and have it Auto-lock/make a habit of locking it. If you're feeling paranoid, do all the encrypting and extra pass-wording.
Well, I always click lock on my laptop when I get up just so that my friends don't mess with it while I'm gone. Theft-wise I think your best bet is just keeping an eye on it and not giving people the chance to steal it. If you're paranoid about someone stealing your data, you can make a truecrypt for your secret documents or just encrypt your drive. That's probably overkill, but it's there if you really need it.
I'm leaving later today to go to Richmond, VA for buisness. I should have time in the evening to stop and get a nice dinner. Any one here know of a good place to eat down there?

I used to work at a Craft Store that had pottery/ceramics, and I made stuff all the time on slow days. I actually made some ceramic armor pieces for a Cosplay as well. I would caution that you use clay rather than a ceramic material because clay is a bit tougher. Although they are both still relatively fragile, as I found out when a piece of mine fell off and shattered, boo. Plan out the armor placement well because you don't want pieces clanging into each other. Will you be glazing it or just painting with acrylics, etc? Keep in mind how you are going to attach it to your outfit. (I used hot glue with glazed pieces, turned out not to be strong enough after a few hours due to the shiny surface, hence the falling off and breaking.)

What's your planned route? Avoid DC at rush hour (2:30 to 7). Or are you flying.

I'm guessing straps as the ODST armor looks removable over a set of cammies. Main pieces are a chest plate, shoulder covers, and greaves, judging by some reference pictures.
Is the Nexus 7 good enough that I want one despite having a Galaxy S3? I'd be using it for RPG rulebooks, board games, photo editing, notetaking, and labwork, along with other tablet duties.
A S3 phone? Ehhhhhhhh, maybe. "Tablets" are better at some things than "phones". Personally I'm just very fond of Nexus devices due to the OS being unmolested by the manufacturers.
I'll say this. When I bought my nook tablet I had a crappy android phone. I installed tethering on the phone and the tablet became an indispensable item to me. Recently, we upgraded to the Epic 4G Touch (Galaxy S II), and I find that I use my tablet a lot less. I still use my tablet for reading kindle books and as a DAW controller for Audition, but just about everything else is done on my phone. If the tablet had 3G and a camera, that might not be the case, but there you go.
Co-worker has the S3. It is GIGANTIC. We also have a Nexus 7 at work. It's an even bigger S3. Same size as Kindle Fire-ish.
Well, the n7 is a tablet, so I would hope it would be fairly large. I don't get the love for big phones. It strikes me as an unattractive middle. Too big to be convenient, too small to do the stuff you'd use a tablet for.

I have big hands to use the big phones and I like having one device to do all my things on. I want to carry less things not more. I use my tablet to read books and browse the web when I'm lounging around home.

EDIT - Nevermind, I found out. Released in Febuary, but refused classification in Australia. Wankers.
I'll suggest to the navigator that we give DC a wide berth.
