  • What is a fancy way to get coordinates?

I been running around with no idea where I am.

I found a nice little hollow where I'm building an indoor waterslide for boats. No idea if it will work out.
  • Press F3.
  • There's a big sand/dirt hill that I burrowed into at x: -7 y: 100 z: -148 and claimed for my own.
  • I'd like to get added. I'm gedavids.
  • I'm at X: -116 y: 98 z: 41. There will be a pool eventually!
  • My waterslide is near 18, 65, 419.

It's crushing my test rafts right now. This is totally worth it... ... ...
  • I had an urge to visit this server just to argue economics in real-time with Bryan.

Then I realized that I don't care quite that much and that the landscaping isn't going to mulch itself.

lol. At this point, I don't think I have much left to argue, since it all gets shot down by over 9000 people anyway; you will note I ask genuine questions in the other threads now to understand how things are theoretically supposed to work right now cuz it makes 0 sense to me. Of course, the genuine questions don't get answered, only the postulates I make which get flamed hard.

You could mulch virtual landscape instead of a real one.

Bah. Rafts break way too easily. Waterslides aren't as much fun without one though. :(

I backed off in those other threads because I didn't want them to become even more adversarial. Also, because I am lazy and your posts were long :)

  • So, I found a cave system under my housemountain that has a bajillion coal, iron, and quite a bit of diamond. If you need some materials, feel free to mine there. It's under the coordinates I posted earlier.
  • Alex:

Something I only dabbled with, but you might want to do: Install the Permissions plugin so you can pick and choose what powers non-admins have. That way you could assign who gets to use /spawn or who can feather, etc. There are a bunch of Permissions-dependent plugins that would be available to you then as well.
  • edited July 2011
The Permissions plugin seems to installed.

I couldn't spawn due to permissions (nor could anyone else), so Alex was toying with the permissions. I expected it would need a reboot. It did not, it just went from not working to fixed. Good mod, that.

Although there was the one moment when nobody could dig or build. lol

  • After installing any plugin, you don't need to restart. You just need to /reload (an admin) so that the plugin is activated. You can do that from the console or in-game, but beware -- it will deactivate any plugins that need activation. For example, /reload will turn off /cs and you'll need to /cs -t again.
  • Yeah, I installed Permissions last night when I realized my home/spawn plugin basically depended on it. Things are only roughly where I want them now, but I'll refine it over time.

I claim the island at x:256 y:75 z:-73 and the two tiny rectangular islands near it.

    I shall name it... Bobland...

    Or something.

Oh shit that's even better. I thought Alex was just fixing the Permissions plugin that was already there. I gotta hand it to the MC people, that's good programming practice right there.
  • George, you're in.
  • AtheriShadow

Perhaps some time away from my own server will rekindle my inspiration.

  • You might want a /home plugin.
  • edited July 2011
The /home plugin is already there unless it was removed.

Although I've been having problems with /home and /spawn killing me if I use them when I'm not in the same general area.

There was supposed to be a plugin that prevented all your stuff from disappearing when you die. When I last played (2 or 3 days ago), that wasn't working.

  • If /home is there, permissions haven't been allocated.
  • /home and /spawn should work fine now. The plugin I was originally using for those was rather buggy, but I found a better one.
  • They worked fine this morning. Thanks.

If you need other plugins tested, deop me and I'll jump on.
  • I put a bunch of maps in a chest at the spawn, so if people need maps go there.

Also I should note that there are currently 4 secrets to Castle Turing (not counting the main entrance or the planetarium.) Well more like 3.5, I'm just getting started on the forth one.
  • I made a waterslide that goes from the surface all the way down to the floor of the world. I have yet to get a raft to make it even a quarter of the way before breaking on nothing. *sigh*

Yggdrasil kinda looks badass, though. That is much better than what I was tinkering with.
  • Am I correct in assuming mobs are turned off (since I haven't seen any)?
  • You are.
  • Midgard's a pretty safe place (no monsters to ambush you at night). But if you crave danger and adventure, there is another alternative.

Find the world tree Yggdrasil (don't worry, it's easily accesible from spawn).

Hidden in its roots and branches are gates to several other worlds, which are not nearly so safe.
