  • Counter clockwise is going to the left, if you look at a clock. Damn it, Australia, even your toilets are leftist communist horror pots.
  • RESIDENTS OF COLORADO, WASHINGTON, AND CALIFORNIA! I have a question of the utmost importance.

Down here, we drive on the left. You drive on the right. We pass the joint or bong to the left, do you pass it to the right?
More than likely clockwise, since that's how water goes down the drain, right?
What are you talking about, water goes counter-clockwise down the drain. You're mental. That's why passing to the left is so important, you're going AGAINST the flow, just as the predecessors of today's stoners went against the flow of THE MAN.
Yeah. I'm going to say lack of sleep and I'm the only one here working. But for driving, it would probably be easier to go clockwise.

So there's this boss in WoW you have to rotate around to the left, which I described as clockwise...

This is probably interesting only to me.

US rotation is nominally determined by the person providing the weed, by general knowledge question, or by a game of Marco Polo.

Nah man, clockwise is generally held to be turning left. Anticlockwise is turning right. It's about the whole circle, not just how the hand travels to the right of the clock initially, before passing through the left of the clock.

When I was living in the UK, and in the time before I came back, it was either to the left, or by Bing Bong. Whoever has the joint calls out "BING!" when they're done with it, and then whoever says "BONG!" first gets it. Though, when it's getting toward the wee hours of the morning, it tends to come out more like "Bing!" "yeah over here fuckya"
  • That sentence makes 0 sense. I am questioning my understanding of clocks now.

Clocks go the other way in Australia, but we call it clockwise because that's the way clocks go.

Also, don't use the term "clockwise" when you're talking to someone sitting inside a clock.

Possibly the first time I have been outdone by two curved arrows.

  • I've never smoked weed before but I'm told it will cure my Crohn's and turn my hair blonde.

Prescription steroids have made me so paranoid that marijuana would probably make me psychotic.
  • It probably won't be the last time clocks confuse me.

I'm getting tired of democrat pundits using Obama/RomneyCare of an example where bipartisanship should have been present. Why do they never acknowledge the tenth amendment and the fact that there are some things that are viewed as constitutional when a state does it but not when the feds do it?

Yes, I know SCOTUS upheld it via tax powers but it was passed via commerce powers.

  • It's not getting repealed, so who cares anymore? Any rage over Obromneycare is pretty much wholly impotent as of last night.
  • The constitution is an imperfect document and that's why we have amendments. It's patently obvious to anyone sane or compassionate or both that universal healthcare is the right thing and that Obamacare without the public option does not go far enough. Every other first world country has a working model, this is no longer debatable. You look like an idiot when you argue against it. Enough already. The bipartisan issue should be amending the constitution and getting this shit going right now. My insurer is bleeding me more every year for fewer and fewer benefits. We know that medical billing is out of control. We know it's padded as fuck. We can demonstrate this not only on a micro-level, per transaction, but on a macro level when we compare the US to the UK or any other first world country with universal healthcare. It's a solved problem. It's a finished analysis. There is no room for argument. Enough already.

Medicare is a wildly successful program that should be expanded to include all Americans. The increased risk pool would decrease costs and provide for the general welfare as the federal government is mandated to do by the fucking preamble. All done. Shut up. Enough.
  • But... but... socialism! That's not Merican!
  • Just because something is the "right thing to do" does not mean government has the right to do it.

Yeah, my name is on the return address .
  • I'm less worried about the constitutionality of universal medical care and more worried about implementation. All the medical professionals I've talked to seem to be of the opinion that the government couldn't screw up the way they administer the current system any harder if they tried.

That makes me a little worried about the new one. I'm glad to see more government involvement, i'm just not sure they wont fudge it up.

Muppet, you seem to be wary of government corruption. Does having those same politicians in charge of your medical care really sound all that appealing?
  • Muppet is too partisan to care. As long as a Democrat is in charge they can do no wrong.
  • Yeah, because muppet has never complained about any of Obama's policies.

    Oh, wait...

I have a hard time referring to wild conspiracy theories as complaints.

What Obama (not pre-Obama) policies has he complained about?

The drone program which includes unilateral secret assassination runs on political targets absent a declaration of war or any judicial oversight is the problem.
Criticizing Obama is not detracting from his good works. But frankly, when his good works are couched in and surrounded by some pretty terrible evils like the NDAA, Gitmo, and other police state shit, it's pretty hard to sit still during a big praise-fest and not bring them up.
Obama agrees with Bush, at least tacitly, on things like the HORRENDOUS changes to bankruptcy law in 2005. He chose to continue to bail out the banks rather than underwater homeowners (which indirectly would still have bailed out the banks), etc etc etc. He's as much a corporate whore as any Republican.

    God this woman on a fb friend's status.I just....ugh. Here's some highlights:

"if your wealthy, you obviously went to college and you got an education. you obviously worked to get there. we are all jealous of the wealthy. they deserve the same tax cuts as everyone else. the poor can go to college for free(because of obama). they can get free daycare to help them go to school. Everyone has the same opportunity and my mom is very wealthy and works her ass off! She deserves every last dime she has.."

"my husband is in the military and ANYONE can join. so theres a job right there, plus free education. and if you make under a certain amount a money a year, you can get financial aid in college. Im not racist but EVERY black person i know(Im from Virginia) goes to college for free. So idk if its diff up here."

Also I had to explain to her how tax rebates work.

  • lol, when you start off a statement with "I'm not racist, BUT", that's pretty much when I just tune you out.

Also, had to laugh at the co-worker that told me after all the "shit" from last night, that he should move to England. Oh yea, England, that bastion of conservatism.
  • Nah, I'm moving to Japan.
Hah! Hah hah hah! Do you know that Japan has WAY more social programs than the US? Nationalized health care, pension programs. You want bureaucratic governement? Japan! Read a book about Japanese taxes and government and then tell me that it is the perfect country for your views. It's really conformist, so if you are a Republican that is all about "I do what I want!" you are in for a harsh awakening. Plus, you don't speak Japanese and you are not college educated. Good luck getting a visa.
I'd like to live in Japan again, but I am under no illusions about its difficulty. Just like any country Japan has its share of political problems.
God, people who talk about emigrating to Japan without knowing anything about the country piss me off. You don't even know the different visa levels, do you? Or that someone has to offer you the job while you are overseas, before you enter the country. I hate the idea of someone moving to the country and being fucking illiterate, unless it is an emergency. You would cause mad meiwaku for everyone.
    THANK YOU EMILY
  • That is literally the first time in my life I have EVER been accused of being partisan. LOL!

Doctors are horrifyingly paranoid about their compensation. Their opinion of ANY authority of ANY kind that has say over what they get paid is highly suspect. Doctors in Connecticut successfully lobbied to make it nearly impossible to bring malpractice suits in this state even in cases of gross incompetence (and in slam dunk cases, the awards are limited so sharply that many lawyers won't bother to take the case.) Fuck doctors and their opinions on administration.

To be fair, they do have a strong political party in England that is all but openly racist, homophobic, and isolationist.
