  • That reminds me:

  • I have friends who are actually talking to realtors about selling their property and moving because Obama won.
If you want to be the most epic, wonderful troll in existence, help them with the whole thing, and then pack them off to Australia.
Actually I had another friend giving him suggestions of where to move to, to get away from government interference. Somalia was a popular one.

The ironic bit is that he lives in South Carolina. We're about as free from government interference as you can get in the US.
  • Nah, I'm moving to Japan.

Somalia would be pretty good, but it's hard to fall in love with Somalia. After all, it's where that obummer is from isn't it?

No, Australia is the master troll destination of choice, because all the stuff mentioned in that image is non-obvious. You can actually show up and fall in love with the place before you know any of that. And also I kinda wanna see their faces after they've fallen in love with the place, and then I tell them that it's fantastic because of all those things that they hate and moved away from the US because they thought they were coming in the next four years. And watch their hearts break right in front of me.

And this is coming from someone who said on a whim "I'll move to another country if Kevin Rudd is elected", and then followed through. No particular reason, really, most of my current objections to him are not really policy based. Fun Facts, the day I arrived home is the same day he was removed from his position as Prime Minister. The process proper started while I was still in transit.
    Nah, I'm moving to Japan.
    No, you won't.

Good luck with that, I'll be happy to help. I looked into immigrating to Europe pretty strongly, so I'll be happy to help if any of that information would help you move.

I think Emily could help me more since my biggest hurdle would be learning Japanese.

You'd be surprised. Learning the language is actually going to be one of the easier bits. Once you get the knack of the basics, the rest of it isn't as hard as it seems. It just seems a lot harder than it is, because it's all written in moon runes.

  • *raises hand* I would like to learn Japanese. Not because I want to move there, but because I think its super adorable. >_> I can haz learn?
  • I think the biggest hurdle would probably be immigration. I don't speak French but I saw that as the least of my worries. Immigration laws are tight.
  • Nah, I'm moving to Japan.
Japan with its universal health care?

The UK isn't so bad but I'm not sure that its something that would go down so well.

Haven't I mentioned I'm okay with universal healthcare?

Also relatively high taxes and a relatively liberal government? How about its collectivist attitude?

What does Obama want to do differently from what Japan does on any issue?

  • You should move to Somalia. It's libertarian paradise!
  • Have you put a lot of thought into your move, or is this a knee jerk thing? If you're trying to get away from government interference, you'll have to look at third world. Or South Carolina. Move down here, the feds will pretty much leave you alone. Hell, we're fighting about allowing Open Carry right now.

He doesn't have giant fucking robots.

Yes. But I can't teach you, because I'm dumb, and my Japanese is worse than a child's. Chaos already mentioned Aniki, though, it's pretty good - my failings are my own, the program itself is super ace.

Just when I thought I'd never find myself agreeing with Jack...

I'd started thinking about it back in July. Of course I kept myself pumped, and you see how well that panned out. If I turn my car in and save up I could probably have the money in a few months. During that time I could be learning to speak and read Japanese, and figure out how I can get a job and an apartment over there.
  • Yeah, I'd seek employment pretty significantly then. Also look into actual immigration techniques. Talk with an immigration lawyer.

I did a quick Google search, and it looks like you'll need some luck to get in there. January, 2012
  • I heard a long time ago they had a program where native English speakers could be hired as English teachers. I dunno if they still do that though, in light of that article.
  • It would also depend on what qualifications you have as well. They are not likely to take you if have squat.
  • Well, he can put nontrivial membership of the FRC Forum on his résumé ^_~

They had similar programs in Brazil and Venezuela. Check that out, too. No giant robots, but some pretty geography.

I actually put that on my resume above any of my past professions or current experience.

  • Actually, yeah; I came up with the idea as offhand humour, but in all honesty it's a pretty good idea.

I was just going along with it, I keep my participation here and my work life separate at the moment. That changes sometimes, but at the moment, nope. In fact, it likely will in the future.

I honestly haven't looked at my resume for a while, I think I might have the FRCF on there in a really obtuse way that doesn't point here unless you're already in the know, though.
  • (I'm actually interested in refreshing my college-level Japanese, are there any good programs for iPhone?)

FUCK YOU OBUMMER THIS IS A TRAVESTY I'M MOVING TO A DIFFERENT PART OF BROOKYLN [my rent is too damn high :(]
