I know why Abby's comic was supposed to be funny. I just didn't find it funny.
Well, there's a difference between saying "I saw no humor" and "I didn't find it funny", though people usually mean the latter when they say the former.
I'm glad Abby won, super sad Erika had to go, her interview was heartwrenching.
I actually kinda liked Erika's comic better, but I did think Abby's was hilarious. I just thought Erika did a really good, solid job for the 90 minutes, and I liked how relevant it was to the show overall.
Regardless, Abby was one of my favorites when I was looking at all the artists before the show started, so I feel vindicated having her continue on.
I was surprised, yet happy that Abby won. I think it would be very very difficult to draw a comic by hand in 90 minutes without the aid of a computer. Abby's comic looks pretty well polished, although the flow of the joke is a bit off. Erika's looked a bit more rushed, but her joke made sense. I think that maybe had this showdown happened earlier in the competition, then Erika would be making a surprise comeback like Lexxy did. It's sad that Erika has to go away, and her going away speech was touching, but I am glad Abby won.
If Robert Khoo offers to take you to dinner of your choice in Seattle you DO NOT choose Red Fucking Robin. Von's is the MINIMUM choice. I would probably have Yelp'd for places with four dollar signs. I just did, and Art of the Table looks pretty good.
Also, I really really like Abby. BUT, I did not find her comic funny! I am torn because I want to see Abby on the show more than Erika, but I really did like Erika's comic better.

Dollar signs? Couldn't care less. I'll eat what tastes good, be it a 5 star restaurant with Anthony Flinn as my personal chef, or if it's a mexican-thai fusion food truck downtown. If someone's taking me out to lunch, I want to be saying "I know where to get some fantastic food" rather than "I really know how to spend other people's money."
That said, Red Robin seems pretty bland - not bad, just forgettable. I'd have gone to a good tavern or steakhouse myself. My favorite joint right now is just a mid-sized pub with pool-tables, usually some live music, fucking fantastic food, and they brew their own beer on-site.
Who gives a fuck about food? The most valuable thing she got was his time and advice from one of the coolest and smartest businessmn in the industry, and all you guys are concerned about is the food?

I guess it could have been worse, and she could have asked for McDonald's.

For all we know she freaked out at the invitation and saw a Red Robin across the street and jumped on it as fast as possible before he said something came up.
We don't know. I agree with Ro and Churba, it's not about the $$. It's about face time with RKhoo and the food is really ancillary so long as it's consumption won't kill you or give you a disease, whih Red Robin won't do.
Churba - To your point, Red Robin is sublimely average. you won't get bad food there but you won't get bad food. The sine wave is very small and close to the x axis at that joint.
From looking at their web comics, Abby is consistently funnier than Erika, and I like the style of her art a bit better too. I think Abby against Tavis, Maki or Lexxy would mean she went home, against Erika I think she might make it.
I really enjoyed this episode. It was strange as we didn't see much of the art as it was created, but holding off on both of the comics meant they were less spoiled.
Erika's was pretty bland, and I could have guessed it would be about needing to shit and not shitting as soon as they said "This is in your wheelhouse" based on her Bucko comic. In the end Juliane and I just had a "m'eh" reaction.
But Abby knocked it out of the park. I laughed at the title with the crossed out "ad". Then I laughed at the "penis inside me" line. Then I laughed at the expression on Sherlock's face, and then again at the bra on his head. Four laughs for one comic? Clear winner, in my opinion.
I'd still be happy with Tavis vs Lexxy rematch for the final, but Abby saying in the mix should make things more fun. A Tavis vs Abby elimination could be fun, but in that case I think Tavis would win.
I feel like Lexxy is the biggest threat, and she might get sent in the hopes that she loses out. Her coming back was a longshot opportunity once, and it showed that while she was strong enough to be wanted, she might not be strong enough to win elimination against who was remaining, just the two people she replaced. Put up against Tavis or Katie she might not make it in sheer art speed.
But yeah, Monica for sure, unless she pulls a come from behind victory.
Gotta say, PA makes ping pong the best. Paint the line.

Ultimately it's highly subjective, of course.

At this point they are the coolest cats.

Though considering next episode I should probably have gone with "Welcome to the Terrordrome" by Public Enemy.
Is it me, or is Tavis at the moment the favorite to win it all?
I feel it's still anyone's game, however Katie, Lexxy, and Tavis could possibly have better odds.

This one made me spit out my food from laughter.

Pretty fuck-awesome.
Also can't help to notice how the match between Lexxy and Tavis quickly devolved into the classic Khoo vs. Kiko duel.
Can't wait for tuesday. Either way it's going to be a heartbreaker.
