Don't change the time on your DS when playing these games. The game knows and will lock the palpark/migrate feature for 24 hours if you change the time/date.

That's all it does? That's great! So if you want to catch some night-only or day-only Pokemon, just change the clock! I'm nowhere near getting the pal park yet, so who cares!

It also knows if you put the game in a different DS!
I was going to migrate another 18 Pokemon today so I could do some GTS trading for rare Pokemon. Now I'm locked out for 24 hours!
The thing is that it is 24 hours since you last migrated from the GBA pack. Yesterday I migrated a bunch just before leaving for work so I wanted to do the same thing this morning but, it had not been 24 hours yet. So, I set the clock forward an hour. Now I'm locked out for 24 hours!!!
Status report - I got past the aroma forest, or whatever it's called, on the train this morning. I hope to beat the second gym leader on the train ride home.

The second gym leader is not that hard. The hardest part is getting past the gym trainers. You will understand once you get in the gym.
While in town be sure to see the old man in the house next to the PokeCenter. Heck, when you are in a town you should talk to EVERYONE! There are so many people who give you things it is ridiculous!

Of course I talk to everyone. Do you think I've never played an RPG before or something.

The previous Pokemon games had a much higher number of "fluff" characters to talk too. In the new games a large percentage of the people have real information or items to give to you.
Putting the chip into a GBA restored the save game! Yeah me! Heart attack averted!
Chip whatnow?
With the Leaf Green chip in my DS I was getting the error code about the missing memory and it was dumping me back to the very begining of the game, before I choose a Pokemon. When I put Leaf Green into my GBA it turned on and everything was fine! My saved game was there and the worries ended.

You mean cartridge?
Yes, chip and cartridge have the same meaning to me in this context.
Indeed. My Torchic just hit its third evolution and is now the zomegawesome at level 38. I've got five others bordering on level 30, two with the trainer, and I'm ready to cross the desert for more fun. I've collected 60-some different Pokemon. There must be a lot more game left than I had thought, though, because it doesn't look like there's much more to the map and I've yet to collect about 100 that are listed in the Pokedex.

This is your first stab at the world of Pokemon, right? Are you gonna write an article about it?
I only write extremely local news -- police beat, city hall, the occassional feature story. I also do a shit-ton of editing, and even graphics and pagination. I'm the go-to guy for all things tech in our office.
I work for a conglomerate that publishes hordes of tiny, tiny newspapers that cater to small cities that are typically overlooked by the Cleveland Plain Dealer and smaller local dailies. The only meta-news I might do is this still-potential geek culture column, which I have drafted and given to my editor's boss. If that happens, then yes, I will likely write about Pokemon.

2 badges = max lvl 30
4 badges = max lvl 50
6 badges = max lvl 70
8 badges = max lvl 100
I checked the status of my current trade offer in GTS. I'm looking for a diagla (sp) and I'm trading a lvl 100 Latios. No takers yet...

I thought I was just locked out for a while for changing the clock but, this morning I tried to start the game and it was wiped clean!
Now I am scared!

This is a cartridge.
These are also some chips.
So Jason, still playing Ruby?

I'm surprised you got Ruby rather than Emerald. Emerald has more post game action than Ruby.
There are 4 freaken legendaries in this game I haven't caught yet. :|
