Yay, my game has arrived, no thanks to a Royal Mail postman. Fucker left the DVD on my doorstep, rather than strain himself pushing it through the letterbox!
My third best weapon is the knife. 23 kills with a kill per minute score of 18.16.
Funny part is that ten of those kills were scored last night when I went on a ten person knifing spree. It's too bad the game doesn't track highest streak with a weapon...
I played a bit more of the single player last night. It might be an "on-rails" experience for portions, but sweet jesus the sound design and everything is just incredible. It makes me not care that the story is predictable and characters are flat.
Does anyone know how "Skill" is calculated on your stats screen? It seems a bit ambiguous.
Only very vaguely - Basically, you're assigned a skill of zero when you start out. As you kill people, it goes up - More when you kill people higher level than you, less when you kill people lower level. And of course, it goes down when you're killed by someone else, but in the opposite way - less by someone higher level, more by someone lower level.
You can sign up for Origin free but it's kinda BS. Steam lets you post your stats where the hell you want.
No, the game needs to be in your Origin list, or you need to have gone online on your xbox or PS3. There is literally no way I could look at the battle log without buying it. (Which in my case means waiting for ~1,5 weeks)
Last night, was playing engineer, Rush on metro, and I ran my EOD bot forward towards the B point. Where I encountered...another EOD bot. From the other team. We then proceeded to chase each other's bots around for a minute or two, until I finally managed to blowtorch him to death, scooted forward, armed the Mcom, and then ran over a dude trying go prone and crawl up to the Mcom to disarm it.
Also, playing as support, I had my mortar out, to combat another guy who had his out - and we managed to drop a mortar on each other's heads simultaneously.

Listen to the tone - Don't set flares as soon as they acquire you(Doot doot doot doot), or lock you up(Doooooooot) but fire them about a second or so after they fire (bee bee bee bee bee), then break hard in another direction and hit the afterburners to get away.
Admittedly, I've simply out-flown stingers before, but I suspect strongly that it's more a case of luck than skill.
See, this is making me almost want to break down and buy the game, but the closest thing I've played to any Battlefield game is, well, TF2/CS. Would I be making a horrible mistake paying full price for this right now?

If you are worried that you aren't going to like this style of game, maybe wait for the Steam winter sale and pick up Battlefield 2 or Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and see if you like it before diving into BF3.

A quick 180 tail-whip into afterburner, if timed correctly, can shake a rocket pretty consistently. The problem is knowing where the rocket is and when to do it.
I had the weirdest thing happen on the Siene Crossing map. I jumped in the American tank and turned right to kill the guys camping on the far right flag. I was in the middle of the road with the turret facing sideways to shoot into the alley. I fired one round and then my tank fell sideways into the river. Yes, I drowned...

Oh yeah, tanks slide like motherfuckers on the slightest slope - I've seen one go flying sideways down a hill at running speed, when if it were a real hill, I'd be able to walk up it without breaking stride. EOD bot, as loveable as my little robot bro is, will get stuck and flail uncontrollably around on even the slightest obstruction.

This is best I can do to claim my bragging rights: http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/battlereport/show/4323545/2/235907881/
Looks like knife kills are not tracked for the kill streak stat?
What kind of BS is this?
Gotta get it on Steam next time.
