Thanks! The design that was printed is borderless, since the client wanted to make it rectangular.

Very nice! Good dimensionality -- it feels really solid, especially in the mouth and nose area. If you don't mind a little critique, I think it'd help to bring the far brow/forehead area forward a bit -- it's kinda receding behind her eyeball.
  • Gunter, you once said the only reason you don't make this a regular thing is that it makes your hand hurt. I think if you did it more often; the pain would recede to the point of not being an issue.

Oooh, thanks. Didn't even notice that!

I'm pretty sure that isn't how repetitive stress injuries work. The other problem with a daily schedule (which is what you were asking for before) is that I've usually got a couple other projects on the go at any given time, so not all my creative energy can go into drawing funny hobos. I'll probably make it more regular once I get a website up and running.

Oh, and Uglyfred, that's a pretty awesome drawing. There's something very satisfying about how three-dimensional and solid her face looks.

  • Günter, and all you other artists wanting to take your go at it, I demand you draw a family portrait of Hobo King and his relatives. Several were named, but that's not all, is it?
  • Nice Drawing, Justice!

One criticism: The ear is too close to the front of the head. Nudge it back a little bit, maybe make it slightly rounder, and you are good to go.

Hey Sonic, here's your picture I was promising you! I FINALLY got around to inking it. I wonder if you forumites can identify all nine people he asked for. (The challenge was to draw us like we were taking a group photo at a con.)

I may color it, but if someone wants to color it for me I will love you forever. It needs to be colored, though. Viga's purple hair just isn't the same.

    Full Rez Here.

So that's what Churba would look like standing up straight.

    And Rym's missing his tiara.

Churba, Viga, Scott (above), Sonic (below), Sail, Rym, Emily, and I'mnotreallysurewhothosetwoarebutonemightbeFunfetusortheymightbetheMacrosses.

Also, it looks kind of like Sail is hovering.

That's the Macri, Funfetus looks like this:

I have a feeling that Funfetus could be in a coma for six months and still have bags under his eyes.

    It's true.

Yis! Correct. (They are the MacRosses)
Also, it looks kind of like Sail is hovering.
I was thinking of making him sitting up on something, like a wall or stage. I don't have a background in mind, but I would probably have him climbed up on something.
  • Also, it looks kind of like Sail is hovering.
    I do that sometimes.

    Loving the picture, Gomi!
  • Emily, that picture is so wonderful! You made it easy to tell who everyone is. Not to mention that I laughed so hard at Rym's foot-gloves.

That picture is just so awesome Emily! Thanks so much! I had actually forgotten who I had asked for, but it was so easy to tell just by looking at them.

Actually, the way you drew me is pretty spot-on. And I notice Sail looks a bit like Aizen from Bleach...

Again, absolutely amazing job Emily! Maybe someday we'll be able to recreate this through a photo. ^_~

It's true, he does. Otherwise there could have been no way he could have dropped that penny so perfectly last year at AX...

  • Wow! So great, Emi! I'm so honored! Now I'm gonna be happy all day at work.
  • So, a friend in an 8-bit band asked me to make an official forum icon for each of the members. Here's the first one! Please offer criticism if you have any, because I'm actually going to get paid for this! (My first commission ever, ohcraps.)

And on a background, for easier viewing.

I'd make the sword a tad longer so it doesn't create a tangent with the shield. I don't really like the asymmetry as well but that is just personal taste. I'd also have the A big enough so it touches the top of the shield so it doesn't feel so bottom heavy.

I do like the color palette and general aesthetic of it.

Hmmm...the sword doesn't seem to be creating a tangent with the shield to me. This sort of thing isn't really my forte, but it looks good to me. Congrats on the first commission, too!

  • I see the tangent, and it bothers me.
  • I just started selling books on Amazon Marketplace, so I made this little logo to print at the bottom of my packing slips.

  • So awesome.
  • So awesome.
  • Wow. Kim looks downright murderous.
  • Wow. Kim looks downright murderous.
No doubt. She also looks too skinny in the face. Very gaunt.

Also Scott doesn't look clueless enough for my tastes.

I do think that the drawing is nice overall.

Is there a reason why Stephen and Scott are looking to the side and Kim and staring straight?

    She's staring into your SOUL.

But seriously, the drawing started as just a drawing of Kim and I added Scott and Stephen afterwards.
  • I think you should just have left it as Kim. It would have been better that way.
