Don't have the name of the albums off the top of my head but...Kris Keyser and Revengineers are the two. I bought EVERY CD Boston 8 Bit had last year at PAX. EVERY. ONE.
Kris Keyser's only album is Staring Into Squares, unless you have his single. Revengineers' only release is their self-titled ep.

You gave me some inspiration to do something this weekend, stay tuned for more details...
Glass Onion: Songs of the Beatles is a compilation album I found in a used record store a few months ago. Finally got around to transfering it into digital. High quality shit right there. Aretha Franklin turns the worst Beatles song into a masterpiece: But I'm not gonna lie, it all gets overshadowed by Bill Cosby's performance track one side
Here's something that'll spin you out - I used to regularly take lunch in Leeds while chatting to the old grave of a chap called William Darby, among others. Who you might have heard of - he was more famously known as Pablo Fanque, and he was mentioned in "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!" on the Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album.
How this band escaped my scope is beyond me. A bunch of metal and metalcore people together making... a post-hardcore cd? Or something like it. Either way its definitely not metal, but it's pretty awesome.
I've started listening to Gil Scott Heron's work. I love it. It gives me deep feels.
If anyone else here is knowledgeable about his stuff I'd love to have some recommendations as to what the essential Gil Scott stuff is. I'm kind of just going through Spotify randomly with it right now...

That's not a bad way to do it. Pretty much all his work is compelling. If you just want the heavy-hitters, maybe check out "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" compilation. Also if you like Gil Scott-Heron, this album is also very very good and the same time of style and time period.
Excellent. I'm going to give "The Last Poets" a straight-thru listen now. I'm considering picking up his last book The Last Holiday too, to see what his novels are like.
What got me into him was an interview between him and Jamie Byng of Canongate, which is easily found on Youtube. Lots of life-changing advice in that interview.
I had always heard the phrase "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised," but had no idea it was Gil Scott's thing until very recently.
I've got a lot of respect for Jay-Z. He works hard, he's dope, and most importantly he represents an attitude that's more or less died in mainstream hip hop.
I must admit, it was pretty funny when DOA came out, he had a bunch of interviews, and explained about how people like T-Pain and Kanye use it well, and they have an ear for melody, but too many others are using it instead of hard work to get their shit right, or as a gimmick because it's popular. Cue Rap community response - "OH YEAH? WELL WHAT ABOUT T-PAIN AND KANYE?"
