  • Dude, you are young. Let us oldsters catch up.
He's a college kid with time on his hands. We're old fogeys with jobs and responsibilities. ^_~
I'm a college kid but I only have one badge with my pokeymon around level 11.

    You're graduating, I don't count you.
  • I think Ro is beating me in levels. My pokemon barely hit level 20!
I have the habit of grinding to make sure I don't have too many problems with battles.
    I'm the exact same way, yeah. I just hit Goldenrod City with my main at level 20 and my others at 16 and 17 (with a Dratini at 15, since I just got it at the Game Corner; damn Voltorb Flip, so addictive!). I don't like having one or two Pokemon being way higher than the rest, so I like to make sure everyone gets evenly leveled, with my main being two or three levels higher just in case. That really came in handy for a surprise Rival battle I forgot was coming. XD;

Oh crap! I want a Dratini!

I know my main beast right now is a Kangaskhan (which I named Genghis) at level 22 right now. I caught Genghis in my PokeWalker.

  • I'm currently at Cianwood city. Feraligatr= the shit.
  • I just got the medicine to heal the Ampharos so I can fight Jasmine, and most of my Pokemon are level 26. It makes me feel better that most of you are about where I am (-ish), having pretty much only Li to compare myself to here at school is a little off-balanced, to say the least.
With the PokeWalker, it's my understanding that your pokemon only gains one level per day. Is that true, or is it based on the number of steps/watts?
  • It's one level per walk, yep!
  • edited March 2010
Nope, it definitely is based on number of steps. I found this out first-hand yesterday with my Dratini, since I barely went anywhere and she hadn't leveled at all when I put her back in my game. XD; But yes, Serebii confirms this as well.
1 exp for every step (A Pokemon will not gain any more experience once it has enough for one level, but it will continue to gain happiness)

So as soon as you reach the # of steps you need for next level, sync right away to get the level, otherwise wasting?
  • Don't certain Pokemon only evolve once they reach a certain amount of happiness?
  • I think the extra watts you can produce can also go to unlocking new paths.
  • I got Heart Gold. Picked Cyndaquil as a starter and named him Ogoun, after the Voodoo loa of fire.

    Yeah, they do.

I'm up to three badges. I have a friend who is almost done with the game, that bastard.

  • Here's a decent GameFAQs thread about use of the Pokewalker: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=960099&topic=53947332

I support naming Pokemon after mythical beings.

I named my Totodile Maverick, after my dog, who is in turn named after the famous naval aviator. Who is mythical. Kind of.

I had a Bellsprout named Yggdrasil and traded him. I'll probably trade over my grossly overpowered Venosaur from Diamond and rename him the same.
  • My Pokemon are named after Roman gods this time around (they were Norse in LeafGreen and Greek in Platinum). Typhlosion is Vulcan, Ampharos is Jupiter, Nidorino is Pluto, Noctowl is Minerva, Staryu is Neptune, and Lucario is Mars.

I suppose I do have one Pokemon who's named after a mythical being! My Spearow is named Harpy. XD The rest don't follow a theme, though, other than that most of the names I've picked are references to various media I've consumed. Other than my Spearow, right now I have Bayleef (Ivy), Flaafy (Chirin), Spinarak (Smith), Sandshrew (Lieam), and Dratini (Shana). Other Pokemon I have in my PC box with fun names are Geodude (Stone Cold) and Slowpoke (Cakeisalie).

  • All my pokemon are going to be named after loa. I'm going to try to get a Spiritomb named Samedi.
  • I guess I'm the only one who doesn't use nicknames?

I absolutely and wholeheartedly approve of not only the namesake of this, but I also praise how awesome you are for coming up with that.
  • My nicknames are usually silly: I have a Geodude named AGGROCRAG, a Weepinbell named Acid Sack, and a Chinchou named Nightlight, among others.
  • Sentret: Tanooki
    Zubat: Bella
    HootHoot: Archimedes
    Mareep: Polyester
    Togepi: Eggbert
    Hoppip: Radish
    Geodude: Pebble

    Future planned names:
Mantine: SteveIrwin (if it can fit)
  • I have a Geodude named AGGROCRAG
    Ahahaha.
  • Whenever I cap a new pogey, I ask the wife for a name. "HONEY, QUICK, WHAT WOULD YOU NAME A POISONOUS PURPLE RABBIT?" Monty.

"BEAUTIFUL, HURRY, I NEED A NAME FOR A PINK BLOB THAT LOOKS LIKE THAT MOLASSES MONSTER FROM CANDYLAND!" Rosenthal.

"HEY SEXY, TELL ME THE PERFECT NAME FOR A RAMPAGING FURRY SNOW MONSTER!" Bert.
  • edited March 2010
Ro, the name limit for Pokemon is 10 Characters. It'll fit!
