They'll walk it off. A little poison never hurt anyone.

  • It knows Psychic, Ice Beam, Thunder, and Recover; I'm trying to get it one last super-powerful move to round out the set.
Teach it Thunderbolt instead of Thunder because it's more accurate. Starmie loves knowing the move Surf. You normally don't want HMs on your main guys, but Surf and Waterfall are great on special and physical attackers respectively. You should get rid of Psychic or Recover to have Surf on your set.
  • I've noticed that the Athlete Shop in the Pokeatholon Dome has a different elemental stone for the past two days. Does the selection change daily, and if so, can anyone tell me what days which stones are available?

    Here.
  • I beat the Elite Four. Time for a break.
  • Got Silver this weekend, been enjoying it. I'm at Olivine City right now, I've got a Meganium, and am working on raising a good water Pokemon to help me take down Jasmine's Steelix. This game has reminded me of why I loved Pokemon in the first place. So much nostalgia...
  • I kind of spoiled my enjoyment of this one. I traded over a level 1 Totodile that I had bred for level 1 battles and it is owning everything in the game. I only have 4 badges but since it has Crunch, Aerial Ace, Aqua Tail, and Ice Fang there is no reason to use any of my other Pokemons. I have to hold back on him though cause pretty soon he will be too high level to control.

The single player part of the game is kept challenging by the scarcity of certain Pokemon. I'm four badges in and have yet to encounter a single fire Pokemon that was in the wild. Having Ice and Dark moves early in the game removes much of the challenge.

You can get Ponyta fairly early on with the Pokewalker.
  • Vulpix is also hangin' around the early stages.

I can't get my DS to recognize my new router and it's pissing me off. Nintendo support forum has not solved anything. No router means no trades means no fast-growing pogeys.
  • If you've got a DS Phat/Lite then you might be unable to connect due to WPA encryption.

Which is total fail for Nintendo. The wireless should be transparent to the game. The DS should do all the wireless work and allow the programmer to simply hook into it via program calls.

It does, but Lite and Phat's firmwares have no support for WPA encryption.

I understand Lite and Phat do not support WPA. From what I have read (not owning a DSi) is that if you use a DSi with WPA some games will not work because they (the game) only support WPA. Am I wrong in this?
Important note about the Nintendo DSi and WPA security: While the Nintendo DSi is compatible with WPA security, Nintendo DS games with online play still require the use of WEP or no security to connect with the Nintendo WFC. Therefore, your connection settings for using these games must be set up on slots 1-3. Not in my experience, but I myself do not have a DSi.
  • I can say that the release of this game before PAX East was genius. I can't tell you how many people I encountered with Pokewalkers and had our Pokemon play. I got so many items and watts. I must have opened 4 new paths, and received 40+ items. Among there were several Star Pieces that sold to the shop for $4,900 each.

On Friday I walked around the Queue line asking if people had Pokewalkers. It was a success.

I also believed they made an impromptu Pokewalker meet up on Sunday afternoon. Too bad I had to leave before then.
  • Anyone up for some battling and trading? Currently my team are all at around 25, but that will change in few days :P. I am also looking for a good Dark pokemon, what could you guys recommend?

Tyranitar is the best dark Pokemon in the game. The biggest issue with it is that it causes a sandstorm when it enters play that can hurt your team if you're not setup to deal with it. Weavile is great if you need a fast physical Pokemon with ice and dark attacks. Spiritomb is a sturdy ghost Pokemon that can spread some status effects and hit with ghost and dark attacks.

I let someone else handle Kanto for me after playing for 45hrs and getting through the Johto elite four. I'm not sure if I should save some of my champion pokemans (my Alakazam, Starmie, Typhlosion, and legendaries) to a copy of Diamond and start a new game or not. Or, boosting the amount of replay even more, just straight-up start a new game.

It has a lot of weaknesses, though. It's like Rhyperior in that regard, except Rhyperior has an ability that weakens super effective attacks.
  • I had to box Quilava today because he wasn't pulling his weight. Houndoom has been promoted to the active roster.

Rhyperior is still extremely weak to special attacks even with his ability. Tyranitar just has better stat distribution and a diverse movepool to work with.

I like my Rhyperior, I've actually made it's weaknesses work into a strategy.
  • Has anybody created a anti-freezing patch for the either of the Roms yet? Because it still doesn't work on my r4.

You can try giving YSMenu a go. See this previous post.

Same, but I subed him with my Charizard from Leaf Green, meaning that I now have some Flying/Dragon in my party and that I can get rid of Pidgeot for Sneasal, Railith good call !^.^!
  • So what is everyone's team now? I have a level 60 Typhlosion, a level 59 Lucario, a level 59 Noctowl, a level 58 Ampharos, a level 58 Starmie, and a level 61 Rhyperior.
  • At the moment (still getting ready to take on the Elite Four for the first time),
Meganium level 56, Lugia level 45, Gyrados level 37, Nidoqueen level 31, Haunter level 25, and Magby level 18.

I've got a long way to go, unless I skimp out and just try to power through with Meganium and Lugia, like I did in the old games...
  • Just beat the Elite Four with
    • Magnezone lvl 47
    • Charizard lvl 46
    • Sneasel lvl 49
    • Machamp lvl 45
    • Alakazam lvl 48
    • Need a sixth pokemon, but I used Ho-oh lvl 46 to take on the EF
Wow, I managed to level all of my pokemon about 20 levels in two days. What should I change Ho-oh out for, I was thinking some Dragon action as I have my Charizard on air duty, but I kinda need some water action, thoughts?

Remember that starting April 1st in the US and Europe, there is a WiFi event that will allow you to catch surfing or flying Pikachu using your Pokewalker.

Really hating the fact that my internet is WPA and not WEP. Stupid DS games not using WPA...
